1.I mean we do need a steel industry at home because of security but it's hardly a massive big whoop. Nationalise the water industries maybe.

  1. Just bloody rejoin the EU. No referendum, do it now and ask in 2 years if people want to leave. He has nothing to lose
3. They have cut the adult skills budget by 6% , apprenticeship offers are on the floor already and cutting adult skills provision means no money for staff to facilitate learning on the apprenticeships or other training needed to get young people ( and the unemployed) into work. A bit crap overall, but the problem is everyone else is either worse or will get nowhere because it's the party who are the problem.

Rejoin the EU without out a referendum? Where does it stop next party in just leaves without a referendum, in, out, shake it all about,

A lot of what some people are complaining about is completely out of the hands of any UK government. What the current government hasn't done is explain this in words of one syllable to those people who just want to bash them because they didn't vote for them at the last GE.

They’ve lost a huge amount who did vote for them, that’s a problem for them. And no it’s not ‘one syllable’ whatever.

Blimey, you aren't getting this are you?

1 - I don't think we should all have the same opinion.

2 - I think that EVERYONE matters - regardless of skin colour, religion, social class, economic status - whatever.

3 - Anyone who proudly declares themselves as right wing and makes statements that are demonstrably false, as you have on this very thread, deserves additional and unrelenting scrutiny.

HokeyPokemon · 11/05/2026 12:55

I haven’t got a problem with leaning left, even though in the past I’ve voted Tory.

I just can’t stand Starmer. He’s a socialist and a hypocrite. My dad’s a tool maker and my mum a nurse……but I now live in millions row in Surrey.

Sorry but no, he doesn’t get it. I grew up on an estate in a poor northern town and now I live in a big house and have a really decent household income. I don’t get it. My life is not hand to mouth like others. He is a privileged man who is trying to g to put the world to rights as he sees it. His ideology is written on the back of a Waitrose being. He’s a fraud.

I like Andy Burnham and I’d like to see him as PM. I liked how he handled himself in Covid.

Unphased · 11/05/2026 12:58

KS goes on about the EU, Under EU rules he would not be able to nationalise British Steel

Fast800goingforit · 11/05/2026 12:58

There is absolutely nothing to be proud of in expressing and trying to promote racist views and disinformation which is exactly what that Express article is doing. The facts are not very prominent and certainly haven't been related here by you @pavillion1 You've just gone with headline sound bite you posted.

If you think Starmer is a hypocrite for working his way up from a working class background then are you a communist?

Hallowedturf · 11/05/2026 13:02

Not one word from Starmer addressing the real reason he received a kicking last week.

‘Priority for social services should be given to existing UK residents over immigrants’.

Your thoughts please.

Its not racist to say that I’m not happy with immigrants living here with multiple wives that they have married in their own countries and them receiving more in benefits.

‘Walking away' as if he's honour bound…

Hilarious.

He would crawl over broken glass to cling to power.

Shameless little shit.

mikemag · 11/05/2026 13:16

On Wednesday we get the King's Speech laying out the legislative program that we can expect. The PM then goes on to explain the 'How' of what has been promised.
I expect some ideas of timing for the Steel nationalisation Bill and any surprises.

Angela Rayner has demanded that Andy Burnham be allowed to stand as an MP, opening the door to a potential leadership challenge against Sir Keir Starmer by the Manchester mayor.
The Prime Minister’s former deputy said that his decision to block Mr Burnham from running for Parliament earlier this year was a “mistake that the leadership of our party should put right”.
In an address to the Communications Workers Union just hours after Sir Keir delivered his reset speech, Ms Rayner said: “We as a party have to do better than this. And we can only prove we mean our Labour values by putting the common interest ahead of factionalism.
“And we can start by accepting that Andy Burnham should never have been blocked. It was a mistake that the leadership of our party should put right.”

Hallowedturf · 11/05/2026 13:22

What won’t save him is this speech, or his comment at the weekend that he wants to go on for 10 years, or the decision to bring back Gordon Brown or Harriet Harman as advisers. Those moves probably made things worse, showing the paucity of strategy.

Its not racist to say that I’m not happy with immigrants living here with multiple wives that they have married in their own countries and them receiving more in benefits.

OK, once again, as you seem to be hard of understanding.

Someone with multiple "wives" can only claim benefits for one wife, as a couple, i.e. two people.
Any further "wives" claim as single people, or single parents as applicable.

Note that a couple and a single parent in one house will actually be claiming LESS than a couple in one house and a single parent in a second house. Because they only get the housing benefit for one house, not two.

And, to add once again, there is nothing to stop anyone who fancies it from shacking up with as many other willing adults as they can find. This is not an issue about multiple "wives", it is about multi-person-sexual-relationships, which the law does not recognise, for ANY religion or cultural group.
The law only recognises couples and single people.

Just to repeat: adults sharing housing are paid LESS benefits all together than the same adults in separate houses.

I won't reply to you on this point again, and if you repeat this lie it will just prove you are posting in bad faith.

Yes I’ve read it .. I can not help the adverts and pictures

There is no financial benefit to claiming as part of a polygamous marriage, as more would be paid if the additional person claimed as a single person.

They'd literally get more money living separately.

Universal Credit doesn't recognise polygamous households at all, and since the Immigration Act 1988, it hasn't been possible to bring second wives to the UK through the spouse visa route sooooooo.

So what? I was hoping once the locals were out of the way the bots and people with no life would put the pitchforks away for a bit and let the bloke get on with his job. The general election will be along at some point. Use your little pencil like you're supposed to

We don't need this shit going on while there's instability in the world that affects us.

He has got on with his job and made a right old mess with u turn after u turn.

He has nothing new to say and is completely hopeless at his job. I remember he said he would always take Friday afternoon off to be with his family. Bet that lasted 5 mins. He is totally unprepared for running the country,

@StandingDeskDisco and @PutAGirdleRoundAboutTheEarthIn40Minutes for your great answers to my questions. So many good ideas that would make a real difference.
