What age did you get engaged, married and have kids?

As I feel life is too short and I’m just throwing my life away. Me and my girlfriend are 33 and have just bought a house and are yet to get engaged, married and have kids. But because the cost of everything else we’ve just saved up for a house and have thought about the said stuff to a later time. But as said we both feel it’s a ticking time bomb to have marriage and kids, because for a woman after 35 it’s gets harder to have children. We’ve been together since 26, but all of this cost of living has made our lives a bit further behind than we’d like to be.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Engaged 17. Bought first home 18. First child 20 , married 21 , 2nd child 23. Just celebrated 24th wedding anniversary.

Kids at 21 and 25, engaged at 28 and still engaged 5 years on!

Engaged at 24, married at 25, children at 29, 31 and 33.

I understand not wanting to commit to someone. I don’t understand why someone would buy a house or have children (I know you don’t have children) with someone you’re not married to.

15, 17, 18. Not a sensible timeline.

I’m 39 now. Bought first home at 24, engaged at 27, married at 29, first child 32 and second 34.

Bought our first house 22, moved in at 23, engaged 23, married 24, DD at 28, moved again at 29.

Hopefully we won’t be moving again, we are in our ‘goal’ dream home unless we come into a lot more money 😅

Engaged at 28, married at 29. Bought house at 32, children at 36, 38 and 41. Pregnant first month of trying each time.

Got together age 24
First baby age 26
Then got engaged after that and bought house jointly
Second baby age 30
I’m ‘done’ now, and overall very pleased with my timings and decisions. Have now been together 10 happy years and feel things are now more relaxed with our youngest starting school soon, a bit more money and starting to rediscover some time to ourselves.

We were engaged at 19, married at 21. We bought our first house at 25 and had our first child at 27.

Bought first house at 24, engaged 26, married 28, first DC 29, moved to our forever home 31, second (and final) DC 33.

I will say though, only now, with our DC2 5 months old do we feel like we can slow down and not be constantly saving every last spare penny for something (house, wedding, maternity leave).

Everyone is on their own timeline. My best friend is 36 and is in the early stages of a serious relationship. She wants marriage and kids before she's 40 ideally but also doesn't want to rush it. Each to your own, as long as it feels right for you.

Just go for it - quick cheap wedding and start trying for kids!

Been together 25 years now.

Got engaged at 57, married at 32, had first child at 17.

Engaged 37, kids at 41 and 42, never married.

I’ve only done one of these. First child at 37.

Met my partner when I was 34 at the end of 2020, he proposed when I was 36 in 2022, bought our first house together when I was 37 in 2023, had our daughter when I was 38 in 2024 (had 2 losses previously) and we get married this year. I’m 40 at the end of the month and he’s 46 next month.

I think that’s fine imho. I had my DC as a teenage as well.

Engaged at 24, married at 26, first DC at 30 and DC2 at 34. We bought our first house at 31 after several years of renting.

Even though my life was on track, I remember crying over not being a homeowner and being the only one in my friendship group who was renting. I felt like a failure. Getting in the property ladder is no mean feat in this economy, be proud of what you’ve achieved. You still have time for the rest.
