Yes! Good description!

I've gone the other way with TV and am watching quite a lot at the moment - decided to get a TV licence again after years of not having one and am currently binge-catching-up on Death in Paradise. Started watching Small Prophets too and an enjoying that.

Oh I loved Small Prophets! It's just my cup of tea. We never watch much anyway because I get too much adrenaline if I watch anything disturbing!

When we were first married we didn't have a TV for years but would go out to films and plays and pubs. Once DDs appeared we cracked and got one for some entertainment in the evenings. Slippery slope, our quiet life was ruined by DDs loving all the soaps. DH would leave the room if East Enders came on "All those people shouting!" so I suppose we've gone back to our pre-kids peaceful life.

MewithME · 30/05/2026 13:40

I've been to the garden centre, had an iced coffee and spent a fortune on plants. They're now lurking in the garage waiting for my next spurt of energy so I can get them planted....maybe this evening when it's cooler.

Bit less weird headed now.

Hope you are all fairing well. Tis hot here again but much nicer than earlier in the week.

Ahh I’m glad you got out @MewithME as sometimes distraction is the only way to get out of that kind of head space. I find I can get a bit like that when I spend a lot of time on my own. I actually enjoy and need the quiet when DD & DH are out but have noticed too much of it and I can get stuck in my own head! Mostly during a flare or illness when im even more limited than usual.

Enjoy your visitors @TeaAndStrumpets little people are the best company!

I adored ‘ small prophets’ too @martha79 I must re watch at some point.

Hope the support group is helpful @Orangesandlemons77

Glad TV helps you @JewelleryCat What are you enjoying now Astrid has finished?

@ValleyClouds 5am wake ups are the worst!

Not much happening here, warm again but not as hot and I’ve managed to sit in the garden in the shade. Inside now as got a little too hot for the dog so we’re both resting in front of the fan.

Very boring but have been putting washing in all morning to get it done before the rain next week. DD finally tidied her room to appear with masses of washing yesterday despite being asked all week to sort it out! Tbf she will usually happily do her own washing but as she’s mid exams I took pity on her. Only I can’t peg out yet so thats mostly down to DH. I think we’re finally on the last load. 👏

Have a peaceful weekend everyone.

@TodayIsatrickyone I’ve been enjoying Panda on More4 on a Friday night. It’s a French police drama with comedy thrown in because Panda isn’t like your conventional police officer. If you haven’t seen it, I’d give it a go. I’ve been watching season 2 of The Hardacres with is on a Thursday night on C5 too, it’s a period drama if you haven’t seen it, very gentle and I think it’s by the same people who produce All Creatures Great and Small which is another one I absolutely love. Bake Off:The Professionals is back so started watching that again on a Tuesday night

TodayIsatrickyone · 30/05/2026 15:46

Oh thanks @JewelleryCat I haven't seen those so will make a note. A bit of comedy and something gentle sound just what I’m looking for now I’m able to tolerate TV a bit more.
The only thing I’ve been watching and enjoying recently is ‘ Race around the World’ as I love seeing countries I’ll never get to!

I tried that but couldn’t get on with it and found it a bit boring. Oh I watched a film recently with Michael Caine in called The Great Escapers and it was such a lovely film, really gentle as well and it’s based on a true story. You should still be able to catch it on BBC iPlayer

TeaAndStrumpets · 30/05/2026 16:30

Great suggestions @JewelleryCat I like the sound of Panda. Have you seen Mademoiselle Holmes? Very funny and very French!

TeaAndStrumpets · 30/05/2026 16:32

Visit over, we are on our knees but it was lovely. I started a visual migraine after the first hour! Luckily my speech didn't go so I managed.

martha79 · 30/05/2026 17:31

I added that Michael Caine film to my list earlier @JewelleryCat, it looks nice.

Well done for managing your visit @TeaAndStrumpets

I feel a bit better after a nap, and managed most of the pilates class (it was also mostly lying down).

I haven’t but I should give it a try. It has Raph in it from Astrid I believe

JewelleryCat · 30/05/2026 17:46

I’m glad you like my suggestions for tv and film watching 🙂

If anyone has any for me, please say and I’ll try and remember to watch and hope I don’t forget

Yes she is very good!

TodayIsatrickyone · 30/05/2026 18:22

I started a list on my phone so will add a few. I think I watched one mademoiselle holmes before recent events and had forgotten that one!

sometimes someone will suggest something but then when we want to find something to watch I’ve forgotten so DH ends up scrolling through everything for ages while we decide by which point I’ve lost the will to live never mind watch TV 😂
Im still upstairs by myself a fair amount too so good to have some gentle ideas I can watch. I’ve listened to so many audio books lately.

TodayIsatrickyone · 30/05/2026 18:26

Gosh sorry about the visual migraine @TeaAndStrumpets I get those anfd sometimes they develop, sometimes I think just my body warning me I’m pushing it! But so glad you enjoyed the visit and now rest, rest, rest. Hope you got some nice photos to scroll through 😊

Ha would you believe it we were so busy playing with her nobody took any photos! She never stopped moving and had a lovely time charging round. Lots of words coming too, which is so sweet.

Sorry you're still stuck upstairs, that must be a bit too peaceful at times! All worth it in the end though.

I've got the house to myself tomorrow so I may just stay in my nightie and listen to my audiobook. I do doze off a lot but it's an old favourite so easy to pick it up again!

JewelleryCat · 30/05/2026 18:49

For something else gentle, I’ve been watching repeats of Call the Midwife on Drama channel on a Sunday afternoon which has been lovely because I stopped watching it so these repeats are good for me to watch. I can’t remember why I stopped watching it but I read that there is a prequel series in the works and maybe a CTM movie too

TodayIsatrickyone · 30/05/2026 20:07

I get that re the photos Tea I always intend to get pics when my DS comes home but it’s always too busy to remember much! Even though he’s not a cute toddler anymore, he’s 26 😂 it’s nice to get him and DD together now he’s no longer living at home.

I used to watch call the midwife in the earlier seasons too @JewelleryCat and enjoy it but for some reason I went off it in the last few seasons. But I guess characters come and go so maybe it was that!

I still feel a bit guilty that my DD watched one episode, I forget how old she was maybe about 9 but she decided she was never giving birth after watching it 😂

JewelleryCat · 30/05/2026 21:56

I think I stopped watching CTM after Sister Mary Cynthia left so it’s been nice to see the newer faces if you like on the repeats. If anyone has freeview, its channel 20 tomorrow afternoon and there’s two episodes to watch

MewithME · 31/05/2026 08:34

Morning all. Woke at bloody 5am. Must put that blackout sheet up again. Took it down when it cooled off but forgot it helps with waking up too early too!

Debating if I'm up to doing coffee with my friend this morning. It'll be 20 mins drive each way and I'm doing mum taxi (10 mins each way X2 ) this afternoon.

I think it would be good for me mentally if not physically. 😬 Really not sure.

I did my plants last night so I am a bit knackered.

Lost track of the thread, it’s moved quite fast this weekend. Hope everyone is doing well. My security camera alerted my phone at 2.30 that there was someone at the back door so I was panicking but there was no one there on camera. I did manage to go back to sleep thankfully

MewithME · 31/05/2026 09:45

Sorry @ValleyClouds it's probably me rabbiting on 🙈

I think I'm the only one without one of those cameras. I think it would make me more anxious than less.

@MewithME I got mine for reassurance as my back entry has a blind spot. It does go off when the neighbours washing blows over the wall which is a bit annoying
