Here you go @FuzzyPuffling

Lovely!

FuzzyPuffling · 28/05/2026 11:37

@bedfrog Thats a beautiful garden. Exactly my sort of perfect green space. I bet the bees love it too.

bedfrog · 28/05/2026 12:13

Thank you @FuzzyPuffling, it's a new build and I've done the entire garden myself (with dh doing the heavy work, naturally). I'm really proud of it 😀

martha79 · 28/05/2026 12:33

Afternoon all, sending cooling breezes and healing thoughts around (too warm for hugs).

Gorgeous garden @bedfrog

@TeaAndStrumpets I have tattoos and am always happy to roll my sleeves up if someone comments and wants to see more 😄 Can't believe my body has managed entire days of being tattooed not that long ago, I can't imagine it'd cope now!

I've got friends visiting this afternoon so have had a fairly quiet morning apart from a bit of tidying.

Yes you must have had a very high pain threshold!

Dozymoo42 · 28/05/2026 13:41

glad to hear that @MyAutumnCrow😊

@TodayIsatrickyone will give box breathing a try methinks, my shoulders are permanently up around my ears so anything that will help me properly relax is worth a try!

@JewelleryCat the nearest I get to relaxing is listening my audiobook or sewing, I used to enjoy colouring also so might have a go at that again.

@DoAWheelie Hope it stays settled for you.

@TeaAndStrumpetsBit more of a breeze where I am today thankfully we had a storm overnight 🙏🏻 Sounds like a lovely weekend is heading your way with DGD get plenty of rest to prepare 😂

Sounds like there’s a story there with Lucy Worsley @FuzzyPuffling I do like her documentaries ! Heat also makes me grumpy unless I am on a sun lounger round a pool on holiday (with a sun umbrella over me 🫣)

Beautiful garden @bedfrog you definitely are right to be proud!

Thank you for the cool breeze @martha79 very much needed at the minute!

I am pottering today very excited to have enough energy to peg out some washing whilst hubby is at work , I am getting there slowly🤞 all this talk of sitting in gardens has spurred me on to get hubby to make a start on tidying our yard so I can sit out with a cup of tea and my audiobook 😊

DS3 has just left to catch his train, I will miss him, but its very tiring having an extra person, even one you love and don't have to pretend in front of. DDog is bereft, he will wait by the door for his return until his teatime distracts him, 😥

DH and I spatchcocked a chicken for lunch so the oven wasn't on for so long. I don't know why I haven't thought of doing that before, it more or less halved the cooking time. It was horrid cutting out the spine, and cutting through the ribs though. But in all honesty, DH was doing the cutting, and I was reading out the instructions. I don't think I have the strength in my hands to manage it myself.

Its muggy here, even though we had a humdinger of a storm last night. I was looking forward to it feeling refreshed this morning, but alas not.

I'm going to try to find a film on TV thats not dystopian, violent or frightening and has a proper story, that I haven't seen before. Wish me luck 😁

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/05/2026 14:48

@Dozymoo42 I always want to do laundry on a hot day! I am restraining myself from washing some down pillows as I am supposed to be resting. I always put them out to dry on the patio then trot back and forth fluffing and turning them, so it's a lot of energy. Instead indoors doing shopping list and browsing eBay "Thanks, I'm just looking" lol

@danglethedingle can't help you on the film front, I'm down to audiobooks of old faithfuls. Let us know if you find one! I haven't watched TV since April 9th and haven't missed it! Normal service will resume once I've got some new specs next month.

I had a pang when my DDs left home but I wish they had taken all their stuff with them!

danglethedingle · 28/05/2026 14:57

@TeaAndStrumpets We cunningly downsized once they were all flown, so we had a good clear out of all the stuff when we moved. They took the bits they really wanted, I kept a few bits like their first shoes, and school reports. And other than photos, that's all we've got now.

I really wanted to bring the door frame we used to measure them on, but I didn't say anything quick enough before DH had painted over it.

Luckily DGC have taken over the filling the house with 'artwork' so I am not entirely without paintings of me with a green face eating a purple icecream!

Swanhilde · 28/05/2026 14:58

Last day of the holidays so we went out for a lovely lunch to a restaurant we know well 😋

Travelling home tomorrow so I'm relaxing in preparation this afternoon. It's been a wonderful break and I am feeling very well rested despite the heat 😊

DD did her last exam this morning, so that's uni finished! She and her friends will be partying til the early hours I'm sure 🥳

Keep cool everyone 😎

Love that! We just weren't quick enough!

Things migrated back here according to their housing situations. DD1 and family lived in a static caravan while doing a major house restoration, so we stored a lot of their stuff for three years. DD2 we thought we were safe but she and her DH got jobs in another city and rented out their first home. They stretched to a new house near new jobs but neither house is huge. We have been housing her piano for 20 years but now it's got to go as we are moving. DD2 is very attached to the piano so it's now gone to her sister's house! So it's all a bit like Jenga.

Oh fab sounds like you did well in the heat. It's very pleasant to be warm I must say! About 26 indoors is lovely. My toes are pink not purple for a change.

Dozymoo42 · 28/05/2026 15:50

Well I seem to have got carried away with the pegging out @TeaAndStrumpets am now lied on the bed with the fan and a booming headache! 🫣seems the energy I had was a mirage and not really there at all-oops!

Hope you find a good film @danglethedingle and that the doggo comes round a bit after missing your DS!

Sounds like a good plan @Swanhildeand glad you’re feeling well rested. Hope your DD enjoys her well earned partying 🥳

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/05/2026 15:53

@Dozymoo42 reckless pegging- out is an invitation for collapse!

Let that be a lesson to you, young lady 😟

I am definitely happier in the heat @TeaAndStrumpets ☀️

Kids call me a reptile as I'm always cold, despite my overactive thyroid! 🦎

@Dozymoo42 even listening to your audiobook or sewing is meditation in its own way. I believe it’s called mindfulness or mindfulness meditation where you do something and your mind is blank or drifts away

I have found that my visible band shows me as resting fully when I am listening to an audio book . I think because mindfulness is always mentioned when I speak to health professionals that I feel I’m missing out on something that would be helpful to me if that makes sense?

Swanhilde · 28/05/2026 17:03

Mindfulness is being fully present in the moment, so not thinking about the past or fretting about the future. It's being completely absorbed in whatever you are or aren't doing. Be that meditating, colouring, practicing yoga or listening to an audiobook, whatever works for you 🧘

JewelleryCat · 28/05/2026 19:25

@Swanhilde do you do mindfulness? I’ve also heard of mindful eating but never tried it

@Dozymoo42 there you go then, your audiobooks must work really well to show you’re fully rested on Visible

martha79 · 28/05/2026 19:27

I've done some nice mindfulness meditations which are with your eyes open and focusing on what you can see, or that concentrate on sounds instead. I do have a very visual imagination but even then it makes a good change.

Lovely visit from friends but we went out for a walk and the heat was awful - went straight to bed as soon as they left and slept for almost two hours. I can't wait for it to cool down. Just about to get into a cool-ish shower and then settle down for the night.

I used to teach it in a previous life, when I could talk out loud for prolonged periods of time ...

Mindful eating is great fun. Used to do one with the kids using minstrels 😆

Now that mindful eating I could be onboard with @Swanhilde!

Yes you must have had a very high pain threshold!

I think I do - the hardest bit for me was always the staying still for so long! And with a long session your body does start to do some weird things (because it's basically under attack for hours) - it can go shivery and you need to make sure you keep your blood sugar up. But you also get endorphins after a while so there's a bit of a high too. I can't see me ever getting a big tattoo again but it'd be nice to feel well enough for a few more small ones at some point.

Sorted out my counselling appointments today and I start on Monday - am quite looking forward to it even though I know it's also going to be quite tough.

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/05/2026 09:38

Morning all!

It was cooler last night thank goodness. I had my hot water bottle - to the amusement of DH, just pain relief for my lower abdomen. IBS - always follows stress.

Not much happening here today except we are having the gutters cleaned out. They are rammed with moss from the roof. DH isn't safe on a ladder with his dodgy hip so DD1's hubby is arriving with a scaffolding tower. Perfect day for it, not too hot.

Hope you all enjoy your day.
