28 here...worse tomorrow!

MyAutumnCrow · 27/05/2026 19:37

Well, isn’t it absolutely bloody typical that I’ve had a full-on ‘reflex syncope’ episode late this afternoon?

And it was all going so well …

Lucky that OH was here, god love him. I ended up laid out on the bathroom floor (again). So refined, so dignified. Oh well, onwards and upwards. No point stressing.

MyAutumnCrow · 27/05/2026 19:38

@TodayIsatrickyone I’m with you on the mindfulness techniques - very helpful.

It’s so hard to do especially in stressful situations that are out of your control as we’re all human but I guess that’s when it’s even more important!

I’m definitely my own worst enemy sometimes, I know stress makes me ill so then I’m stressing about being stressed and making symptoms worse but you're right, sometimes we have to decide to put it to one side until we can deal with it.
I did a new meditation today actually, that had you visualise writing your worries down on a large whiteboard and putting it away to deal with another time. I quite liked it!

I’d love to be able to do the white board visualisation I think it would do me good but I really struggle with visualising stuff😢 always have, I think I’m one of those people that can’t see images in my brain there’s a name for it I just can’t remember it!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 27/05/2026 20:54

I'm not good at whiteboard/letters/writing visualisation. However I can do situation. So I "see" sitting on a luxury beach on a comfortable lounger under gentle swaying palm trees.. I scrunch my toes into the warm sand. I feel a gentle breeze. I see the gorgeous blue sea with sparkles of sun glinting off the water etc.
I breathe slowly, eyes tight closed & let my whole body relax.
It's a nice brief holiday 🤣.

Would love a nice holiday like that! Unfortunately all I see is black when I try 😂

@Dozymoo42 oh what a shame.

Thank you @JewelleryCat I knew there was a name for it!
Do you do any form of meditation or anything? As I really struggle with relaxation techniques because of it. Nice to know it’s not just me!

What if you stared at postcards or photographs of relaxing beach scenes, something like that? Are there any photographic images that soothe your brain?

Thanks @MyAutumnCrow I am not sure as I have never tried to do it that way! I may give it a try though.

How are you feeling now since being unwell?

Hi, thanks, feeling a bit better. Drank water and ate a third of a boiled egg. Go me. Lying down now scrolling on MN, pondering.

TodayIsatrickyone · 27/05/2026 22:56

@Dozymoo42 yes visualisation doesn’t work for everyone. Funnily enough, I looked at the reviews and that was a comment so you’re not alone.
Perhaps focusing on breath work might help your body physically relax? My physio suggested box breathing for me recently just to get my shoulders to relax and it does help a bit. You’re literally just breathing in, count to 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4 and pause for 4. I find my mind doesn’t wander off like it can in some meditations because I’m too busy counting! Also brings my HR down a bit.

Sorry about tonight’s episode @MyAutumnCrow 😕

My meditation is colouring at the moment. I can’t do guided meditation or think of a happy place or close my eyes and an image like that beach above pops in my mind. I just close my eyes and it’s like yours, black

I made the mistake of taking my diuretics on monday as usual before I realised how hot it would get and have spent the last few days with kidney pain and feeling sick.

It's starting to fade away now so I think I'm healing. I've been keeping an eye on my pee colour just in case and it's stayed normal so I'm not too worried.

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/05/2026 08:30

Morning all!

24 degrees atm so just nice, 28 later.

Hoping for nice weather on Saturday when DGD is coming to see us. She is obsessed with throwing balls at the moment so I've bought lots of tennis balls to play with outside. Four adults to play with one teeny child...the ratio seems about right! She is very speedy on her little legs.

Our steam cleaner broke during DH's housecleaning spree so I got another one. I spent hours looking online and there is an amazing lot of options. In the end I've just got a basic one that plugs in.

That sums up my boring week! Hope you are all also finding excitement in your lives!

Hope everything is back to normal now. It must be difficult to coordinate medication with the weather, there's always bloody something 😒

TeaAndStrumpets · 28/05/2026 10:39

Evri chap just delivered the tennis balls. He had an amazing tattoo all over one arm but I only got a quick glance. It seemed rude to ask for a good look! I don't care for tattoos myself but this was a real work of art. I suppose all is revealed in this weather!

FuzzyPuffling · 28/05/2026 10:48

Just catching up on you all.
I like Lucy Worsley documentaries but I know someone who worked with her...

I dont like dogs. Sorry, I said it. Noisy, smelly, no manners, pester you, unlike cats.

Still hot here ( SW England) but not as bad as it has been. I want a thunderstorm.

I need a nap. DH had a hospital appointment at 8am and I had to take him ( he doesn't drive). Who has appts at that time of day???

Can you tell the heat makes me grumpy!

bedfrog · 28/05/2026 10:50

Hi everyone!
Have done all but one of my errands today before 11am. I was in pain from my occipital neuralgia last night so took a painkiller and went to bed at 8.30, meaning I was up by 6 this morning. It was nice to sit in the quiet garden with a cup of tea.
Cooler here today thankfully. My garden is looking fab so I'm spending some time out there today. Although I havent got a book to read as the library doesn't open until 2.
Hope everyone is well and having a gentle day.

Grump away! Safe space!

At least hopefully it is half term? Quieter for traffic.

Please don't disillusion me about Lucy Worsley, I'm already seriously off Alice Roberts! Not that I expect everyone on TV to be perfect 🤗
