Meanwhile, the Guardian seems to now be be promoting Farage and the prospect of him becoming PM. Bizarre.

These quotes stood out:

"In the places that Nigel Farage has visited, there has been the occasional cry of “not welcome” or “despicable man” but generally he has had a warm welcome"

"Local elections are notoriously unreliable barometers for predicting general election results. But this time, as the government finds every available hole to fall into - or, if necessary, digs one of its own - things may prove to be different".

Sturdy Alex thread on Hodges article

This is such an unintentionally revealing piece by Hodges (on, I believe, DAY 2,719 of trying to destroy Angela Rayner for having a curry). He seeks hilariously to preempt accusations that he objects to Rayner for being a woman or working class or someone who occasionally has fun, by listing 1/

Labour is facing wipeout in its final stronghold. Why? It’s housing, housing, housing | Aditya Chakrabortty

In the 1980s, Labour-controlled London built 52,000 council homes. During the Tony Blair decade, just 280. It’s brought this local-election catastrophe on itself, says Guardian columnist Aditya Chakrabortty

Reading it again, Hodges is suggesting Rayner is an alcoholic, isn't he?

Angela Rayner should quote the wonderful Delia Smith. "Let's be having you!" And add, not you Desperate Dan.

Thank you. As someone in the comments to that article says: some on the left seem to want to wipe out Labour (and it seems that includes the Guardian). I am more left wing than Starmer and Co. but I don't think destroying Labour is the way forward.

FGS.

In a post promoting the British Army and their actions, Tory leader, Kemi Badenoch, actually used footage of Bloody Sunday.

There are no words.

Kemi Badenoch criticised over the use of Bloody Sunday footage

Will she apologise I wonder? Stupid, stupid woman.

DuncinToffee · Yesterday 14:33

She removed the post on X today, I don't think she does apologies.

Jesus, that's awful.

I recommend the brilliant museum if anyone ever visits Derry.

TemperanceWest · Yesterday 14:35

"The Conservative Party, whose former leader David Cameron issued a public apology in 2010 for the soldiers' actions, said the video was removed "as soon as we were made aware of the footage".

"We apologise for the inclusion of this material, which should not have been used and will not be used again," a spokesman told BBC News NI"

So nobody checked what was actually on the footage?

That was funny. I’d be just emigrating with shame if I were Kemi - possibly to Mars. Does she even notice her faux pas or that the Tories are currently incinerated toast though.

Spandauer · Yesterday 16:07

Sadly, I suspect, a huge proportion of the electorate are ignorant (or choose ignorance) of British military actions in NI. And I suspect that also goes for some of the Conservative social media bods who saw the footage and thought "that'll do". 😡😔

placemats · Yesterday 16:08

So we have the Conservatives and the Green Party apologising for posts that are awful.

Yet no scrutiny on Reform and thier CEO Nigel Farage and the 5 million donation. Plus the absolute gall of the man who was accused of anti-Semitism during his days in a privately educated sixth form college going to Golders Green and making a speech in support of Jewish people.

She'd land on Jupiter and say it's near enough.

As I recall, she never makes mistakes. So why would she ever need to apologise ?

Imagine the stress of having to face Badenoch at PMQS when your family has suffered an horrific and scary attack.

Badenoch never agrees to welcome any visitors or to give sympathy to attacks.

If the King died she may well give a statement, but protocol in PMQs is always to echo what the Prime Minister says.

Headline story in the Guardian now - does anyone believe all this wishful thinking? Or just more Guardian shit stirring?

Andy Burnham has plan to return to Westminster ‘within weeks’, allies say

Exclusive: Greater Manchester mayor said to have identified seats where MPs would step aside to allow leadership bid

Llttledrummergirls · Yesterday 20:13

If Andy Burnham puts his personal ambition over the security of a stable government I shall definitely be writing to my Labour MP to give my opinion of this pathetic alledged in fighting. Grow up, get over yourselves, allow the stability and have some fucking patience.

I'm sick of alledged manoeuvres from Burnham.

God knows what is true and what isn't. If it does come to pass that Burnham takes over, does he imagine he'll get a free ride from the rw press and everything will be hunky dory?

This all might explain why the knives are out for Rayner, though.

Grow up, get over yourselves, allow the stability and have some fucking patience

Don't you think that it's all a bit unlikely - I mean there's no evidence that the NEC have changed/will change their view on him leaving the Manchester mayoralty
