I’m really shocked by that post @SerendipityJane. I thought we were better than that on this thread.

It's hardly an underground hate rag.

And I repeat, I don't care about the individual here. It's the underlying fact it could happen.

Probably time for me to step back today, things don't clean themselves.

I feel we might be about to find out what happens when an SM resigns/is sacked. This poor dab in Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni didn’t think he’d be elected… Got the 6th seat for Reform. Wasn’t even at the count.

Oh dear.

Fair question or not - it's a fact and was just about the only [properly referenced one] in that whole appalling thread - why do you want to resurrect it here?

Commonwealth citizens can vote in all elections. They voted in Brexit vote too.

Any thread on this or any newspaper article has hugely obvious tones of xenophobia , racism, homo and transphobia.

As a side note , JKR now has a trans councillor in her own ward.

Piggywaspushed · 10/05/2026 10:48

SerendipityJane · 10/05/2026 10:07

Because I was under the impression that only British citizens could vote (and therefore stand) in parliamentary elections.

I was uneasy that our PM was married to a non British citizen ... so to learn that a non British citizen can actually hold a parliamentary office is a little bit of a nasty revelation.

I couldn't give two hoots about the specifics of this case. It's the fact it can happen that is my focus. Because it doesn't feel right.

Your first sentence is completely wrong though.

Piggywaspushed · 10/05/2026 10:51

I can't tell if you are trolling us Jane! The Scottish Sun may not be underground but a hate rag it most certainly is.

Organised by Stephen Pollard so to be expected to be honest.

Jenrick defence of Farage's £5m on LK

“The State wouldn’t provide funding for the security of Nigel”

Farage was a private citizen and not even considering running for MP

Farage himself is claiming he was 'hacked'

Maybe Badenoch hacked him!

Pretty much Yusuf’s defence on a radio show. He was called out for it not making sense but just repeated the nonsense. He was asked whether Nige may have had other ‘gifts’ but just said he shouldn’t have knowledge of other people’s private finances so the question premis was wrong - he avoided a direct answer by stating just this three times.

DuncinToffee · 10/05/2026 12:57

It's the party line, anything against Farage is a 'smear'

Tice was a joke on LK. He implied that Reform voters don’t care about Farage’s ill gotten gains. He brushed off that awful Nigerian as pothole fillers quote as a smear.

DuncinToffee · 10/05/2026 13:17

Yes, he couldn't bring himself to condemn that racist bile

@DuncinToffee
Re the interruptions by LK today , she was shockingly poor in my opinion , and even my DH ( who is very tolerant of my political musings) picked up on it and commented .

BIossomtoes · 10/05/2026 14:18

I actually find Tice and Yusaf even more offensive than Farage.

I wouldn’t go that far. Offensive in a different way maybe.

He’s probably right Farage’s cult don’t care - he should have been more honest and mentioned Farage’s cult actively like racist, abhorrent statements.

She’s always been pretty shocking - I don’t know why she’s the political go to girl for the BBC. If she’s getting worse his help them - always felt she was a boris fan girl and hoped she may be more neutral when he’d gone - but no.

They have suspended him now

OP posts:
Efacsen · 10/05/2026 16:35

Good

TemperanceWest · 10/05/2026 17:01

I should think so.

He won't be the only one.

cardibach · 10/05/2026 17:13

So we can add him to the list of Reform councillors who have gone/changed parties…
Clearly they wouldn’t have suspended him left to themselves.

TemperanceWest · 10/05/2026 17:28

How long do we think Starmer can last now? It seems more MPs are speaking out now.

What a mess this all is.
