@TemperanceWestThanks!

@DuncinToffee That's some twist.
The idea that it might be "illegal" to find out about the £5 million, not that the £5 million donation itself may be highly contentious.

In my opinion.
Thanks for highlighting as I didn't hear that interview.

TemperanceWest · 08/05/2026 15:33

This result is exactly as predicted in terms of seats but PC had a bigger share of the vote and Reform less than predicted.

Surely everyone knows that technicalities are a slippery get out of jail - and a very BAD thing.

Sorry pointy. Did I read that Essex has gone too?

Yes, Essex also gone Reform. Lots of gloating. It won't last.

One of the 5 Tyne and wear counts complete.

Of the 20 seats Co tested in North Tyneside, 10 we t to reform and 2 to the greens but labour still have a good majority there.

Currently 51 of the 75 Sunderland seats have been declared and 39 of them are reform, so they already have their majority.

MsJinks · 08/05/2026 16:16

My city of sanctuary Reform got most increased seats but Greens nearly matched and labour/lib dem kept a couple - not the worst - not great.

Local small city - labour hold where we leafleted - woohoo! - labour leader hung on - some going Reform though - so hoping reform doesn’t get control there.

Ponty was on a knife edge with Reform predicted to win 3 PC 2, but 'twas the other way around in the end! Same for Afan Ogwr Rhondda which has just announced.

C'mon Wales!

cardibach · 08/05/2026 16:17

I’m pleased with the Valleys results so far. I’d assumed the Brexity vote there would have gone reform but so far they’ve returned more PC than Reform seats.

Never in doubt! (It was. I was shitting myself it would be 2 for Reform…)

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/05/2026 08:16

It's the element of the left vote that has gone to Reform that I find most worrying though.
Pleased to hear your results have bucked the trend BIWI.

I think more and more that the only way we are going to rectify this belief of the left that Reform are the answer is for reform to run the UK. They need to see Farage is not the golden ticket he sells himself as.

He’s just a great communicator who knows how to say what people need to hear without actually saying it.

Imagine Starmer getting away with half the stuff he does and being able to just ignore it?

Worked for Johnson for a while and people believed “oh that’s just Boris” until it started to affect them.

Labour aren’t perfect. They’ve made mistakes and have a lot to do and they’ve had bad commence the stuff they have done.

But if people think reform are the answer they’ll soon learn!

And which party has been accused of anti-semetism,again?

MsJinks · 08/05/2026 16:21

One of our new reform councillors previously said out loud that the guys who built the Olympiastadion were ‘real visionaries’ - asked for a sun wheel to be added to a flag etc - I mean who are the folk who vote for Nazis - despair.

BestIsWest · 08/05/2026 16:23

I’m pleased with the Valley results so far too. Although disappointed Reform took the 6th seat in Caerfyrddin despite PC having 43% of the vote.

dontcallmelen · 08/05/2026 16:24

The two Labour incumbents held & share of vote increased in a ward that was heavily targeted by reform here in my little corner of south east London my ward the three Labour councillors re-elected with an increased majority very happy we worked bloody hard.

Why's the thread title in German? I don't understand what it says. Is it an in-joke?

It is a tradition now for these threads to have a non-English thread title. Just a bit of fun.

Well done - fabulous work you’ve done.

We targeted 2 wards - one went Reform though- then helped one next door and Labour held - feels worth it doesn’t it - and not just for the step count!

cardibach · 08/05/2026 16:40

I’m battling an eye infection that is making me feel more crap than seems reasonable so the results are helping a little.
Sir John Curtice is predicting PC as largest party on 41-46 seats. 49 needed for a majority so that’s pretty close and should be easy to form a government.
