It's the element of the left vote that has gone to Reform that I find most worrying though.
Pleased to hear your results have bucked the trend BIWI.

Absolutely this. I struggle to understand working class Tories - though Wes Streeting explained it well in his James O’Brien podcast interview - but Reform is a whole other level. I just don’t get how you can think you are disappointed with Labour so you’ll go to the extreme right instead.

DuncinToffee · 08/05/2026 10:31

Nearby towns result have been Lib Dems and Tories so far

Othering. Reform play on implying that others are to blame for people's woes.

cardibach · 08/05/2026 10:35

Projected Senedd declaration times for those affected. I’ll be pacing by 4…
Will Hayward says gossip from the vote verifiers (how many papers have we got, not what do they say) is that it looks like Reform haven’t done quite as well as they hoped to in their strongest areas - Casnewydd Islwyn and Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni. Unverified yhough so trying not to get my hopes up. As John Cleese says in Clockwise, you can handle despair, it’s the hope that gets you (or words to that effect)

Me too.

According to YouGov Clwyd is polling 2 seats to Reform, 2 seats to PC, 1 each Tory and Labour.

PC to take a hefty 4 seats in Gwynydd Maldwyn, Reform 2. So will be interesting to see how those first two results match up to polling.

Is it too early for gin?

I think I’ll need a gin drip before this is over

Hampshire seems to have gone from Tory to Lib Dems and Reform.

Aldershot and Farnborough are flag central and pothole galore, no surprise they have gone reform.

Reform's target seat Bexley has stuck up two fingers to them, Tory majority by quite a margin.

Never imagined celebrating a Tory win - but I am lol

Well judging how the potholes have been managed in my next door, and most of my kids’ council area, they are certainly in for a nasty disappointment- and today I’m mean enough to think ‘good’.

I'm thinking that in a way it's a good thing if Reform win so many seats/councils - because that will soon demonstrate how bad they are. Will point up that their policies simply won't work. So people in those councils/areas will realise that they aren't worth voting for in the next GE.

A weird kind of silver lining, I suppose.

Well they've only lost 170 seats so that must be brilliant in her book

Co Durham didn't put off the reform voters of Hartlepool.

I hoped this but now I think not. I actually think Farage will play on what wasn’t achieved by local councils, as due to Labour government hating on them and stopping the great progress.

I mean there’s the problem of leaking super racist/other way inappropriate councillors but that never seems to matter!

I see Rupert Lowe was thanking Great Yarmouth - but no results in yet. When Reform is not sufficiently racist and shite for you must surely consider looking in a mirror eventually!

TemperanceWest · 08/05/2026 12:14

Badenoch is claiming victory in Wandsworth.🤪

Can’t bear to listen to any of them today - so thank you for taking that one for the team lol!

But not sure if it’s as bad as I expected for them? I don’t know enough really - just been crying over the Reformistas I guess.

I had no idea they were rebuilding the party tbh ha - I barely know who’s in their party, have no real clue on their policies that they’d take forwards - I mean despite laughing/eye rolling at Farage saying he had a shadow cabinet I do actually know much more about them and I feel I’ve already cast the Tory party as now a small time irrelevant party - maybe I shouldn’t as some are clearly reverting to the main parties to vote so perhaps they’re still able to engage support - though they will bin Kemi before a general election I think.
