🤞

That looks more bearable. I couldn’t stand the thought of years of Reform banging on about being the largest party but denied power by the nasty lefties (because they know their followers don't really understand how coalitions work).

And I thought it was bad enough that they misspelt the name of one of their less than lovely candidates in Sunderland.

It’s getting a bit trigger happy with deletions round here. I had the first one in about a year today and it’s beyond me how it contravened the guidelines.

Efacsen · 06/05/2026 15:48

I noticed that yesterday - not one of yours @BIossomtoes or mine - the very mildest criticism getting deleted as a 'personal attack'

.

DuncinToffee · 06/05/2026 16:06

The mass deletions on a thread in citme a few weeks ago for personal attack were laughable

MN's reasoning was even worse.

OP posts:
BIossomtoes · 06/05/2026 16:27

It wasn’t even a personal attack. I cast aspersions on a particular section of MN - nothing personal in it.

That thread is awful.

BTW There is an old Peruvian saying: "Beware of the one who claims their earth is sacred. They have visited before many times in many guises and mean nothing good."

I have the opposite issue . I have reported attacks on public figures which are racist, anti semitic or downright everything ist and phobic and been told they stand as 'discourse'. Guess it depends on who des the reporting.

Efacsen · 06/05/2026 16:54

@Piggywaspushed my theory is that the 'personal attacks' are much easier to ajudicate whilst the other worse stuff falls under 'it's too complicated'

Personally only report spam now after too many frustrating experiences

DuncinToffee · 06/05/2026 17:26

Not much use reporting these days, they just disappear and plop up with a new name

OP posts:
PickAChew · 06/05/2026 17:57

They're welcome to their spam, IMO. I broke my no report habit for a personal attack against someone in a vulnerable position and they "took a look" and did no more.

So came home today, and found 2 hand delivered c. 10p a pop letters from the local Tory party. (You can work out the cost for an electorate of c. 16,000).

We also had a nice flyer from the local Labour candidates.

Both Tories and Labour have had the same people for years.

Nada from the other parties.

No amount of trying to reslice the raw data suggests any other way of stopping reform except voting Tory.

PickAChew · 06/05/2026 18:23

Are the tory candidates good'uns, Jane?

Hard to say really. in my 24 years here, it's been Tory+Tory with Labour in a quite removed second place. Hence the way tactical voting works out. However as we all know, Birmingham has a Labour majority.

I am hope for all the flagshagging, the Tories retain enough support for the tactical element to keep reform out.

Meanwhile here's a rather niche startup channel. Only 61k subscribers now, but who knows where it could end ?

And here we go. One of YouGov’s daily questions today. Note no option to say Starmer shouldn’t be replaced at all. It’s clear where this is going.

Well amazing - and why don’t they point out it doesn’t work like that, just you know for general info! Or remind folk Tories turned into a revolving door of leaders.

Who sets up YouGov polls? I’ve never wondered before tbf.

Well tough. They aren't going to get one!

Happy polling day everyone. 🗳

Remember to ignore the ploppers if they come a-gloating.🐿

BestIsWest · 07/05/2026 08:02

Polling day and I STILL haven’t made my mind up! I really want Plaid to do well but hoping Labour don’t do as badly as predicted. Head says I should vote Plaid, heart is still with Labour. I’m not going until about 5pm so I’ve got a while to think about it. DH is voting Labour he says. I’ve only once not voted Labour and that was in the last Euro election when I voted Plaid as a protest on Labour’s Brexit stance.

I’ve got a full on day, starting with the hairdresser at 9, optician and an art class, no doubt I’ll hear a few opinions along the way.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/05/2026 08:10

No elections where we are - so just watching in trepidation. I genuinely don't believe I could ever vote Tory tactically though.
I only ever voted tactically once - LibDem in 2010. That went well...

pointythings · 07/05/2026 08:12

Last time round it was exceptionally close between Tory and Independent. It's reasonable to expect the Tories to bleed support to Reform, so I am going Independent. He's excellent and has done good things so that's fine.

BIossomtoes · 07/05/2026 08:15

Remind me - how many PMs did the Tories have without calling an election? Three wasn’t it? We’re off to vote this morning. Our incumbent councillors are LibDem and they’re doing a good job so they get my vote again today. I’m bloody glad I don’t live in Wales.
