We are going to Spain next month for 4 nights for a hen do.
We have been sent a message in the WhatsApp group that no white allowed except bride.
At first I thought she meant no white outfits for the night outfits (which is totally fine ) but she’s said no white at all.
No white vests /trainers /bikinis/cover ups /linen trousers etc etc
Now most of my vests I wear under jackets are white and my trainers are white.
Shes specified no white at all
So I’m gonna have to rethink loads of outfits as a lot of skirts for day time match with a white vest.
My linen trousers for pool days are also white etc
Do you think this is a bit ott?
I mean trainers …I only own white trainers 🙈

Since when had avoiding white clothes been standard for a hen do?

It’s ridiculous and no way standard!

I’ve seen plenty of hen dos where the bride wears white and the others wear a different colour, it’s really not that unusual

For four whole days? Including trainers?

"In would stay away from white clothes because that is pretty standard for a hen do."

Perhaps in Instaland. Meanwhile, back in the real world it's a made-up load of rubbish.

Telling someone they couldn't wear white shoes to a wedding would be ridiculous enough. White has nothing to do with hen parties.

I agree banning all white clothes is ridiculous especially trainers but I’ve seen plenty of hen parties where when they are out the bride wears white and everyone else a different colour

‘I wouldn’t give up my white trainers though.’

Ok, that doesn’t mean it isn’t done

Ok, but I only ever said it wasn’t standard, did I say it wasn’t ever done? Did I?

On so you can change the rules if you feel
like it? Or you have your bike trainers to wear? I thought the whole thing was bridezilla wanted no white! Would she check underwear as well?

If you are going somewhere hot of course you need to wear some white items especially the white trainers. She is a brideszilla and it’s only going to get worse, but

Vaxtable · Yesterday 00:52

I would just go back and say sorry my trainers are white, I only have white vest tops and will be wearing them, unless she wishes to send some money for you to purchase stuff you will never wear again

I would point out shes being a real bridezilla over this and it’s not a good look

can you cancel? I would consider doing that

Where?

I have been to about 15 hen dos in the last decade and they have all done this. As PP said, it's really not that unusual.

Edit to be clear- talking about the bride wearing eg a white dress. NOT talking about the bride dictating no white items of clothing whatsoever at any point, very different.

I think that’s the issue for me, bride can wear what she wants, if she wants to wear white all weekend, fair enough!

But dictating to others what they wear is a hard no! In every aspect not just the trainers!

AEIOYOU · Yesterday 09:59

I don't like white for clothes for myself (doubt I have anything white) but I'd being going out and buying white white white if I were insane enough to go to this senseless woman's hen night out.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · Yesterday 11:10

😲😲😲.
Probably by the sounds of it.
And even ultra strict white clothing only Wimbledon has stopped doing that.

I guess I don't see it as 'dictating' anymore than black tie at Ascot or cocktail dresses at a wedding reception is. It's just a dress code.

Don’t be silly it’s not like ascot, is it?

I mean for Ascot you’re aware upfront and you decide if you want to go, pay the money for the ticket and know if you’ve suitable attire.

In this situation, the OP has had bridezilla decide with no notice at all than she wants, no white and expects they silliness to continue for four days…. A dress code announced that has to last four days, because she wants it 🤣🤣🤣🤣!

The same with a wedding the invite will dictate the dress code for one day, which you either accept or don’t.

It’s not a wedding, it’s a piss up in Benidorm or whatever, hardly needs a dress code!

You’re going about OTT tbh in your responses! I wouldn’t request anyone to not wear white at my hen do (well I didn’t) but I also wouldn’t choose to wear white because around weddings and hens white is the bride’s colour. And yes I would wear my white Nike trainers even if I was asked to not wear a white outfit

Well then it’s irrelevant if you’ve never heard of it, just because you’ve not heard of hens wearing white it doesn’t make it unusual. Maybe unusual to you but not to others that have heard about not wearing white

ParisIsMyGirlCrush · Yesterday 14:40

Yeah fuck that!! Wear your white bits, What's she gonna do?

My responses are my responses, don’t like them, don’t respond back!

The OTT one is the bridezilla who wants a four day hen party, with only her wearing a dot of white! Including your clearly cherished Nikes! I mean fancy excluding the Nikes! It madness I tell you!

It is a Hen party group of friends going away to celebrate the bride, it isn't an "event" it isnt Ascot, the bride is being pernickety and obtuse, of course she can be centre of attention without dictating .what her friends wear
