Corvo

we know that - that’s what we are discussing 😂

Ah there you go - being demeaning as you can’t get your own way and influence what we discuss

it is public knowledge - taken direct from a website vocal voice or something - doesn’t mean it’s true but it wasn’t made up by poster

just chat to people you want to and leave us alone - you don’t get to censor our chats

you are contradicting yourself - saying don’t discuss and watch out you could prejudice case and then saying what we are discussing isn’t true so therefore it couldn’t do what you think

why are you so bothered? Go and chat with who you want

The poster has acknowledged they got it wrong. Keep up.

Do you seriously think if she was on her phone she would’ve crashed through a hedge, a field, a children’s picnic then crashed into a building without reacting? Carried on whasapping?

Yes! Quite easily - that’s why it’s 3 points if you are caught

didn’t altering off a motorway bridge when they driver was on the phone

Obv very biased

I thought that tongue thing was very old school

I don’t believe a word of it!

Frightening that anyone can be on a jury, no qualifications, no critical thinking skills, brings all their own prejudices and just says ‘don’t believe it’ to every single thing with no logic, no reasoning.

the poster isn’t on a jury so not sure why you’re conflating the 2.

My brother has his first ever seizure when he was driving. It was completely out of the blue with no history at all of any other seizure activity.

That’s how first seizures present - the person can be absolutely anywhere and doing absolutely anything. Including driving.

He later went on to be diagnosed with epilepsy after investigations began as to what had happened to him.

Thankfully the only person injured was himself but if he was in a public area then he could easily have killed other people.

Just because her first seizure “conveniently” happened when she was driving, that doesn’t mean it’s not the truth. This could just be a very, very tragic accident.

My brother still doesn’t drive as his team still cant stabilise his despite trying various medication and its stories like this that will probably make him never want to drive again, even if he does go the 12 month seizure-free time period that the DVLA request before returning a licence.

As many posters have said though, about 1 in 20 people have epilepsy…. and they all had to have their “first seizure” somewhere. For some people it’s when they’re at home, for some it’s when they’re in the middle of doing their shopping and for some it’s whilst they’re driving.

My dad had his first daytime seizure and crashed his car into a wall on the other side of the road. He was miles from where he was supposed to have been going and on a small, quiet country road, thank god, or he could have killed or injured someone.

Not conflating anything, just observing that this type of thinking is rife and just as likely to appear in a jury as a MN thread.

Having been involved (unfortunately) with The Met and Payne Hicks Beach, I have significant concerns about their handling of this tragic case.

The defendant has some serious cash at her disposal. PHB charges 75k for an undefended non-molestation order.

Tongue biting happens with nearly all tonic-clonic seizures (unconscious and convulsive seizures) and other partial seizure types too.

It’s the myth of swallowing the tongue that is old school.

It's clearly a false statement, though, and if you keep going on about it the thread might get taken down, which would be a shame.

No it won’t because it bears nothing

no going on - just replying to a poster who seems to want and argument and to act superior

It's still there, but I won't link to it because it's obviously fake (AI-written, non-existent journalist, nonsensical medical statement). Goodness knows where it came from, or with what motivation.

Nonsensical is no threat to our justice system

but remember you said stop
talking about it and then precede to 🤔

“Claire offered the police her full medical records. The police confirmed these medical records showed that she had never previously suffered any symptoms of epilepsy."

Interesting phrasing from the legal statement. Not an outright denial that she had suffered any symptoms of epilepsy, just that none are shown in her medical records.

“Swallowing your tongue” is just non-medical parlance for obstructing your airway. Which can happen during a generalised seizure, if it goes on for long enough. Most seizures self terminate pretty quickly though.

Why isnt this bigger news? This school is similar to mine, and it seems like they have great lawyers who got her off.

Because however tragic it was, its just not that interesting or important compared to other world events.
