I get up at 5.30-6am week days. I even like being in bed for 9.30pm on a weekend night too.

55 and up at 6.30. In bed by 10 at latest, usually 9.30 but reading. I aim for 8 hrs sleep.

For the first time in my life I understand why people do this. TV is so utterly shit, I am exhausted and just want to go to bed early evening now. I’ve never done this in my life before. I tend to wake at 6 to 7 am. Honestly longing to go to bed from 7 pm onwards!! Mid sixties. I would never have even considered doing this in my life before. I read or listen to podcasts.

I’m late 30s and am without fail in bed by 8:45pm Monday to Thursday. I have to wake at 5 to get my son up for the school bus (I could sleep later but I need my 30 mins of alone time to have a coffee and pack his lunch). I’m usually asleep by 9:30. My husband works late hours so usually only comes to bed 11pm/12am and wakes at 6am he cannot understand why I need so much sleep when he’s fine with less! I have always been this way though so I can’t even blame my age 😂

I’m up & about late on Friday / Saturday nights if I’ve got a reason to be, just not in general.

I wasn’t. I was in bed and lights out at 10. I have been up since 5.20 this morning though. Early is no different to late. Dishwasher done a load of washing is done and has been hung up. Sitting down with breakfast now and a coffee.

LOL not sure why you dont get it.

Surely it's not that odd that people might go to bed earlier than you and also get up earlier than you- is that really so baffling to you?

I couldn't stay up that late if I tried.

I was asleep by 9pm last night. Up at 4.50am with dogs. Have done a 3mile dog walk and physio and some abs work.

Just eating brekkie now.

Chocolatecoffeecup · 18/04/2026 07:29

I'm in my 40s and I go to bed as early as possible but I do read or watch tv in bed. I don't get up as early as you.

ThatWaryLimePeer · 18/04/2026 08:29

Age 57, I go to bed at midnight and wake up at 7.37 on the dot.

FlatErica · 18/04/2026 08:34

I’m the same as you, OP. I’m 59 and I just love the mornings.

Why don’t you get it?

The stuff you presumably do between 9pm and midnight is the stuff many of us do between 5 and 8.

Exercising, relaxing, reading, watching tv, housework, study.

Vive la difference and all that!

RampantIvy · 18/04/2026 08:50

People's body clocks are set differently. I am still working so on weekdays my alarm goes off at 6.30. I usually do some exercises before breakfast than shower and sit at my desk. Bedtime is usually 10.30 to 11 as I need less sleep these days.

I can't imagine being ready to jump out of bed a 5am in January unless I really had to.

You've answered your own question here 🤣
