Thanks for answering. That's awful. I haven't seen it reported by the media yet.

Also not sure what the US warships have achieved? They were told to turn back, they turned back, therefore proving that the world has to dance to Iran's tune to transit the Stait, which we already knew.

That last question isn't aimed specifically at you @logicisall, just trying to make sense of it all.

Edited

Hahaha, we're a robust bunch here. It goes without saying that here's a lot of fake news coming out of the SoH atm so it's anyone's guess what's happening there apart from the news that the US warships etc have arrived.

Whenever I post about happenings in Kuwait/Bahrain/UAE, it's from direct messages from contacts on the ground.

Personally, it's unhelpful to try and use ciphers to discuss Israel. If for no other reason than all countries are unique and Israel doubly so.

Noted.

Wipeywipey · 11/04/2026 18:35

So the ships have "turned back" presumably until the talks are over. I wonder where they are hanging out until they decide if they need to return or not.

I think, somewhat surprisingly, that Vance has been sent to negotiate because unlike Trump he can stick to a script. Whether it is worth the paper it is written on if Trump changes his mind is still yet to be seen.

It’s amazing how successful the US have been in making the Iranians look strong and improving their hand.

I wonder how much they paid Putin for that ? He certainly delivers. If only he could run Britain ....

So is a State the people or the geographical boundaries . What happens when the boundaries move?

Ask the Poles.
Poland is not where it was before WW2

There are loads of videos like that about a lot of things.

I liked the one about the best selling artists, and albums.

There's also one on the cities of the world. With London at the top for a while ....

You will be pleased to hear that I have asked for my post to be deleted. I do believe that understanding the Israeli pov as well is essential to understanding the problems in the ME today.

It's a perfect question to ask.

Talkinpeace · 11/04/2026 19:03

My focus was more on how the borders move.

The UK and the US are bounded by physical geography rather than political geography
so our perceptions of what a country is differ from people like the Belgians
whose borders are entirely manmade

Northern Ireland. The boundary was moved to the six counties to facilitate the Protestant population of Ulster. If Northern Ireland had been Ulster, nine counties, then the majority of the population would have been Catholic.

The boundary of Northern Ireland is the longest in the UK. And that proved to be highly problematic during the "troubles" and more recently Brexit.

Plus ça change plus ca la meme chose.

As the article says eventually other providers are available.

It's true that the restrictions means frequency of imaging of certain areas might reduce but the statement made by a journalist in that piece that somehow European images are more blurry than those provided by US suppliers might be a bit wide of the mark..

You did not upset me. Lately, posts are being reported a lot, and after your response I thought it better to avoid the risk. It's a bugger tho, thinking that we now have to pussyfoot around for fear of being reported.

I am heartened to learn (from reactions as well) that some thought my post had merit.

Why would you substitute anything..that makes no sense when you're specifically asking why should Isreal exist. That does make me ponder.

Using substitution is a well known aid to understanding, as it allows you to look at things from a 360 perspective. It allows you to ask, 'if this applies, then why not that, all things being equal'. It can lead to the answer that no, all things are not equal. This is exemplified in @SerendipityJane's observation that Israel is doubly different.

That clip also names Brad Parscale as Chief Strategy Officer for Salem Media.

I remember him. He was the guy in Trump's 2016 campaign who hired Cambridge Analytica to use the profiles (created from stolen Facebook data) for microtargeting on Facebook and other social media. He embedded staff from the social media companies in his campaign offices – it was called Project Alamo.

And since the Iranians are likely using Russian and Chinese images anyway one could conclude that perhaps the USA have something to hide by not allowing journalists access to that imagery.

Especially given how cagey they have been about reporting injuries and deaths and keeping the identity of the missing pilot secret. It’s almost like the claims that they are winning the ‘war/not a war’ might be wide of the mark.
