Yes. I can understand why the US system is the way it is. Good points and bad and all that. But the dems consistently keep playing by the rules. And when the rules are against you then you really should be breaking them if needed.

If there is no national leader position, then make one. Then unmake the position later. It should be easy. " We the undersigned agree to follow the lead of X during this time ......." . At the moment herd of cats comes to mind.

Then again, a damp squib is more likely than a firebrand.

As I mentioned earlier, TRIP US today is good on what the Dems are/should be doing.

They were slightly of the “don’t interrupt your enemy while he’s making a mistake” ethos whilst also reminding people that there are an awful lot of “double haters” out there and unless a magical 3rd option is going to come along, it’s going to come down to who do you hate less.

Not seen it. But “don’t interrupt your enemy while he’s making a mistake”, should maybe be " Make sure everyone knows your enemy is making a mistake" ?

Bluesky users are convinced that the Democrats need to make Hassan Piker their Lord God King. Imagine a more snotty version of Owen Jones except he is a streamer on the Twitch platform who goes on luxury communist tours (he's just back from Cuba after raving about how cool China is)

A good way to check, I find, is to search PRC state media. Good way to spot a tankie. Or someone who is very naïve. I just searched "GlobalTimes Hassan Piker" and got this :

He is a propagandist for an authoritarian Government.

Fortunately publicity over the Trump administration's actions in this particular field is also being well provided by... the Trump administration.

With all these ultra high-profile MAGA going at each other's throats in their customary ultra-public fashion, I think anyone wandering in would just give MAGA the opportunity to (briefly) appear united in attacking the outsider.

The opposition do need to be organising quietly in the background, though, to be ready as things change.

I find that conversation incredibly pointless and stupid. Honestly, that people are putting energy into that debate makes me want to scream. I actually feel like, if you're a candidate and his point of view works for your platform and your constituents, go for it, and if not, don't. It doesn't need to be a party-wide decision. We don't all need to be in agreement.

I actually think just showing some passion instead of uniting for strongly worded letters would go a long way.

Sarah Longwell, who I think is brilliant, keeps saying that when she does focus groups it's not that people want Dems to be more centrist or more progressive, it's that they want them to show some courage and fire. You can't keep saying this is the most important election of our lifetimes but acting like it's just business as usual.

Well personally I’d want to hide the bits with Trump - but that horse has bolted for her ha!

I just thought maybe the intelligence visa is so well known as a euphemism then no one really discusses it but just accepts it. I think she’d have been better keeping quiet - I’m not sure it’s something of itself to get worked up over, and if you’ve done this then best not to mention it at all rather than lie.

I saw a clip of her speaking - seemed to me they’d rolled her out and insisted on behalf of her beloved orange man. - I mean to what actual end I’m not sure but it was my impression. I’ve always thought she couldn’t care less about much but Baron and her parents - like her coat said - but does her ‘job’ to an extent.

I’ve since intermittently heard that it’s quite poor what she’s done - and let down the victims in this but I need to look more into it - thing is do I want to!

This really needs to be watched by any and everyone who wants to see the future

TL;DR is that thanks to Trump, Iran no longer needs a nuclear weapon. They have something much more powerful ... something that cannot be taken away from them.

She mentions Europe getting more nukes, arrrrggg likely to happen, sadly. You know, we possibly could power a whole medium size country for a good while with the amount of enriched material wasted sitting inside those bombs. Humankind could not be more ridiculous.....

Tbf, Hassan Piker is not wrong. China is coat tailling on what South Korea has been doing re soft power on the global stage. Chinese dramas (google Pursuit of Jade) is starting to make waves just as Korean dramas seem to have fallen victim to their own global popularity with more exposure, more quantity but a fall in quality.
China is exploiting the value of sm to chance perceptions.

Ah, be fair. She only wanted ones that had been used by the Obamas to be changed, not all the boggers in the entire building. She wanted the whole en suite bathroom changed (even though she was also demanding a bedroom of her own and not to share one with her husband, so she wouldn't have been using an Obama-contaminated khazi anyway) but settled for just the toilet seat and managed to cope with the potentially dangerous used-by-decent-people shower. (By not using it and having one of her own.)

I expect she was afraid high standards of morality and civility might be contagious.
