Tenerife heading to Manchester now.

Still quite low altitude, so might swing around for another attempt at south approach

How do you use flight radar?

Download the app, then zoom in on the map and click on the planes for more info. The free version gives you enough info to get hooked!

What actually happens if they divert you to another airport at 2am?? What a pain.

Yes. Same time as a flight from Dalaman into Leeds landed on first attempt. Except the Amsterdam one landed back where it took off. Alas.

Edited

I imagine the passengers are fed up but at least they're safe!

No hotel usually at that time, a very cold wait for a coach to take you to your destination airport. I guess where most people’s cars will etc.

SpringLambton · 05/04/2026 01:44

Tenerife surely heading for Manchester now?!!

Looks like they are headed for Manchester, actually. Not sure where they'll slot in.

strawlight · 05/04/2026 01:45

It’s deathly silent outside now so hopefully it’s subsiding.

The Tenerife plane is scheduled to fly to Palma at 6am, all those families will be checking in at the airport in a couple of hours. As it’s now heading west I think they’ll be disappointed (or bussed across the Pennines)

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 05/04/2026 01:45

Jet2 from Antalya just went straight over Edinburgh and is circling round to try again. It’s got extremely windy here in Edinburgh in the last hour. The internal front door keeps trying to blow open,

Snoopy51 · 05/04/2026 01:47

Tenerife doesn’t look like it’s going to manchester after all…

strawlight · 05/04/2026 01:47

Where the heck is Tenerife going now?

LadyPorkPie · 05/04/2026 01:48

I’m guessing Manchester have said no more traffic for now. Trying to think where else it could go, anywhere north is going to be risky.

Poshjock · 05/04/2026 01:49

Gusts of 69 on the Forth coastline. Can’t hear a thing in Fife but maybe sheltered by the Lomonds. It was very gusty about an hour ago. Looks like Ryanair Girona out of holding pattern now too

YeaVerily · 05/04/2026 01:50

I grew up in Bradford & had family at Yeadon (it’ll always be Yeadon Airport to me 😀) so this is particularly interesting. I’ve flown in & out of that airport & had no idea it’s such a difficult one. Every day’s a school day on Mumsnet!

I grew up in central Leeds so very close to Yeadon airport. It will always be Yeadon airport to me too. 50 years ago they used to do an hour long sightseeing or taster flight. My Dad took my two older brothers aged 9 and 10 but not me because I was 18 months.

I still call it Yeadon airport.

LadyPorkPie · 05/04/2026 01:50

I guess it’s not just having the air traffic control staff, it’s having the place on the tarmac to store the extra planes, all that extra baggage coming in. I can see why Manchester would say no more for now but looks like they’re going to take Tenerife maybe?

Picpac876 · 05/04/2026 01:52

Nah, they look to be falling into the landing line up for Manchester. Same with Girona. Just got to space them out to slot in.

purpleme12 · 05/04/2026 01:54

It's making me want to go in holiday

Picpac876 · 05/04/2026 01:54

A bit like with Dublin earlier and another flight that looked to be loitering. Just holding till they can go round to join the flow. Not like cars where you can just go stationary or reduce speed limit that much.

It’s blawin a hoolie in Falkirk!

That's my take too. Cold and uncomfortable but safe is ok.

LadyPorkPie · 05/04/2026 01:55

With no flights departing at this time though, I wonder how they’re fitting that many extra planes on the tarmac etc?

I'm guessing they might have planned ahead according to weather. Perhaps shifted those they can into hangars. And maybe have a fair amount of extra capacity. I'm guessing they must get paid for taking these extra and then for them taking off. So seems a business savvy decision.

Jet 2 Tenerife going TOGA at Edinburgh. Got down to 800ft too!

juggleit · 05/04/2026 01:57

Tenerife to Edinburgh just tried to land but going around for second go.
