dalaman still seems to be heading for Leeds - let’s hope things are a bit better for them

We were saying earlier, the KLM planes are smaller. (Regular shuttle service) so maybe that as an effect in storms?

Definitely, yes. KLM frequently cancels flights, one of my friends lives here and works in Amsterdam and quite often is stuck at one airport or the other!

how is this so wildly interesting 😂

Blimey I know! Never gave it a second thought before today but now I'm knee deep in it! Random post I casually opened. Now I'm glued!

Me too! I REALLY need to sleep as well but that ain’t happening!😂

Dalaman seems to be going for it at Leeds

KnitFastDieWarm · 05/04/2026 00:28

also, this thread is mumsnet at its best (and i feel the crew of the dublin coastguard helicopter should be honorary mumsnetters as they clearly get it 😀)

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned but I had no idea that gliders flew at night. One has been flying over York for quite a while now but it doesn't follow their path.

ArmchairSuccubus · 05/04/2026 00:29

KnitFastDieWarm I adore your username. Most excellent.

I also track friends and family ( flights of…otherwise that would be very wrong 😱), take screen shots of their flight and sometimes even send them on to them. My family think I’m nuts. ☺️😆😂

Edited

I tracked my daughter on a BA flight to Washington and the plane disappeared off the west coast of Ireland and went into the past tense. I freaked out for two whole hours until I eventually contacted her boyfriend (in America) who was tracking her in a different flight app and the plane was fine. But fml.

I’m watching the Amsterdam - Leeds safely back to Amsterdam then off to bed.

Unfortunately it is slowing - perhaps a busy Schiphol - when I last looked 22 mins to landing, now 39 mins.

Goodness it is going to be a near three hours ( for a usual 1 hour flight).

Pilot must be shattered, poor crew and passengers.

And still not down.

dalaman due to land in a few mins - come on pilot!

I did that the first time DS went to a job on an oil rig. I didn’t realise that when the chopper landed it basically just vanishes (seemingly into the sea) and then reappears from seemingly nowhere when it takes off again

Lalgarh · 05/04/2026 00:32

This is precisely why I DONT normally track flights.

There was that time when Kwasi kwarteng had just been sacked by Liz Truss when she was pm and he was on the flight back

strawlight · 05/04/2026 00:32

The Amsterdam flight has landed back at AMS almost 3 hours after taking off. Some of those passengers will have been sitting in coffee shops for a few days and may disembark a bit confused 😲

If you look at the location, height and ground speed you'll see that it doesn't actually look to be flying. Looks to be at an airfield and 80 or so feet off ground. So perhaps maintenance or a dodgy reading

SassyCow · 05/04/2026 00:32

Dalaman going for it it seems, dropping altitude nicely.

Do you have a link pls?

I think@Lalgarh posted an image above. We'll have to wait for it to be approved.

ReadingSoManyThreads · 05/04/2026 00:33

There's over 5000 people tracking the Dalaman flight into LBA!

Lalgarh · 05/04/2026 00:34

I put it as sensitive so as to not provide spoilers!

IAmKerplunk · 05/04/2026 00:34

Dalaman has landed. Well done that pilot!

mushypeasontoast · 05/04/2026 00:34

Amsterdam and Dalaman both landed seconds apart!
