HBO Harry Potter series trailer!

I can't see any other threads about this somehow. The first trailer was released this evening for the new HBO Harry Potter series. I am buzzing with excitement! What do you think of it?

I thought it looked amazing! I love that we’re getting snippets of events only briefly referred to in the books (Harry being bullied, Mrs Dursley cutting his hair etc). Very excited!

Where will it be streaming? I’m also very excited! Trailer looks amazing 😍

I thought it was great! Spot on atmospherically.

Looks really good, albeit a bit odd seeing the characters played by different actors to the films!

Yay some HP fans on Mumsnet! I'm honestly so thrilled, I can't wait to see scenes that they didn't put in the films!

I am very excited about this but I hope the series itself is a bit brighter than the trailer! I want it to capture the magic and escapism of the early books - not all doom and gloom. I’m looking forward to seeing a bit more with the Dursleys

Just from the trailer looks like the new child actors are going to be an improvement on the old ones. Can’t imagine the adult characters being played by new actors but excited to see what they do.

I thought it was coming in 2027 so it’s exciting that it will be this year even if we still have to wait until Xmas.

Well the trailer left me really keen to see more - so that’s a good sign! The film adaptations had to cut so much of the world building out so I’m hoping to see more of that.

The child actors seemed a lot more natural and less wooden than the film actors. It looks good.

I think it looks good actually. Not 100% sold on some of the casting (Dumbledore in particular) but overall I’m excited.

Not sure Hagrid seems right but the rest looks good.

I wasn’t looking forward to this, being a big fan of the films as well as the books, but it actually looked really interesting.

I thought it looks amazing, and the kids can act! Bigger production budget too.

It looks amazing. I was sceptical about it when I saw it was being remade but having seen the trailer I can’t wait to watch it.

That looks incredible. I’m a humungous HP fan, but more so the books than the films. I really hope this series contains bits that were sadly lost in translation. I’m assuming we can watch in the uk!?

Yayy, thank you for sharing, looks cool! I’m surprised how like the films it looks in places but then the films got a lot right in terms of setting and casting so I guess that’s not really a surprise now I think about it more.

I’m looking forward to this being done properly now they know the full story and have more hours over the series to fully tell the story and build the characters properly

I’m actually so excited for it - I wasn’t when they first announced it, but the trailer gave me all of the hope I was missing - it really captured the magic I think!

I just hope the music is wonderful.

This! The soundtrack makes the original films magical. The two main theme tunes give me goosebumps.

So excited to see another take on the books after my kids making me watch the first three films in particular over and over again 😂. Harry looks really well cast from the trailer. I did love Rupert Grint as Ron and feel the new Ron has his work cut out living up to that, but hope he does!
