I posted on the other thread that I heard a very angry caller on LBC today. He thinks Starmer is making us look weak and the Iranian people are well up for being bombed back to the Stone Age to get a regime change - Trump is the only one helping.

He was frothing about this and reminded me strongly of very right wing protesters I see. They do walk amongst us sadly.

It’s a very good job we don’t have a far right party in - including Kemi - they’d have had us in this from the get go without thought - they only backtracked due to general public opinion.

I have been a constant supporter of our PM , been called names for it , but this is so important that our RW media need to be totally on board with the Govt and fully back them.

Yes it's excellent to see. It's a beautiful sunny few days ahead and I really don't want to imagine what would have happened if others were in charge.

It's also a bit silly because those countries can demand reparations all the want and the UK can say no also. There isn't any way that the countries can force the UK to pay reparations as things stand. And as far as I know I don't think there are any political parties in the UK running on a platform of paying reparations. So it's all manufactured outrage anyway.

For.what it's worth I do think while there's a discussion to be had about the effects of colonialism etc in general, I dont see how paying reparations to entire countries would work. If we did it would make more sense to pay it to cpu tries in the Carribean etc than West Africa because that's where the descendants of the actual slaves are more likely to live. AnBut its such a non argument anyway because realistically I can't see any UK government doing it. So Reform are tilting at windmills.

I’ve just written to my MP (Labour, in a governmental role) to express my horror at Trump’s latest threat to wipe out the whole of Iran. I’ve said in my view we now have to shut our bases and airspace to the USAF and cancel the King’s visit or become complicit. I’ve also said I don’t mean do that if he doesn’t back down, I mean do it anyway because he says that sort of shit and nobody on the government or legal apparatus of the US does anything about it. (I didn’t say shit in my letter obvs. I was the soul of discretion, language wise).
Ive asked hi. To pass this on to the PM’s office and trust he will also give it the weight of his agreement

I tend to think petitions just get ignored. As my letter will be I expect. I had to do something instead of sitting around wondering when someone would do something though!
