How many bras do you own and how often do you change them and wash them ?

Came up in conversation with a friend who is now saying Im strange 🙄. I live in Southern Europe, in the winter I wear a bra for 1-2 days, in the summer I tend to change every day/ sometimes twice a day. I usually have 10-12 bras on rotation.
Friend says 4-5 days is fine and Im a clean freak.

About 8. Clean one every day

Waitingfordoggo · 23/03/2026 15:05

I hardly ever wear normal bras. I wear sports bras most days as I am teaching classes so those bras obviously get sweaty and get washed after one wear. The rest of the time I wear soft crop tops. Would wash after one day if it’s a warm summer day, but will wear for two or three days in winter.

Megsdaughter · 23/03/2026 15:06

Four new non wired bras. I have lost six stone in the last nine months so have gone down four inches on the band and three cup sizes so had to tgrow out all my old bras and buy new. Only bought four though as still have four stone to lose so should go down in size some more yet.

Wear a clean one each day and hand wash the previous days one and hang to dry.

I have loads of them but my everyday ones I have 7. Change them everyday. I have certain bras that are for certain tops though, and if I’m in a pinch I will re wear one if I specifically need that bra for the outfit.

It’s probably the 7 everyday ones plus like 28 fancy ones that are part of matching sets.

hahabahbag · 23/03/2026 15:29

2 - 3 days unless it’s really hot and sweaty. I’ve got many but not all fit

Dooodaaaaaday · 23/03/2026 15:34

JaneBirkenstocks · 23/03/2026 12:10

No, you're perfectly normal 🙂

Knickers get changed daily for obvious reasons but bras? Nah!

Agree.

MeridaBrave · 23/03/2026 15:37

In winter could wear for 2-3 days. In summer wash daily. I have about 8-10.

TeaAndTrumpet · 23/03/2026 15:51

I’m on the “wear them for aaaages” side, but I know better than to ever mention that to anyone IRL!

People would be shocked. I’m known for being a neat freak. When I think about it, I know it doesn’t make sense, but empirically there is never an issue with smell.

I’d change if I’d worn it to do something very sweaty, but otherwise I just don’t see the point. It’s more time for me, less cost to replace them less frequently, and better for the planet!

familyissues12345 · 23/03/2026 15:52

I have 10 I think, generally only wear them for a day before washing

Amsylou · 23/03/2026 15:56

I change bras every 2-3 days (except for gym bras). I also have fairly small boobs so don’t get the under boob sweat as there isn’t much under boob 😂. I wonder if that makes a difference with some PPs!?

Darlinghag · 23/03/2026 15:58

I definitely do not wash my bra every wear, but I do it more frequently in hotter weather.

I am losing weight so have to replace often, and have a larger cup size ( 34ff) so right now I have two that fit properly and well, worn with fitted clothes, work, events etc. Two ‘house’ bralettes, good for popping to shop when wearing a loose top, dog walking, working from home. Two older bras that do if needed, slightly too big but workable when tightened.

When I get to goal weight I will expand the range - and I am happy to buy for a particular dress for a wedding etc.

diamondsandbluejeans · 23/03/2026 12:24

It's not at all like re-wearing knickers, considering what can get on to those. And feet tend to get a lot more sweaty than the boob area. I don't think it's comparable at all.

I do often wonder how many laundry loads some MNers do per day/week, what with this and the obsession with changing PJs daily.

I've taken off dark coloured bras with a white "tide-mark" of sweatiness (I'm assuming the whiteness is salts of some kind), if I've been physically working hard. Some people get sweaty skin even on the bust, not just feet! I suppose we all assess our personal levels of grubbiness at the end of the day and make a decision based on that. Like I said, sometimes I'll wear a bra a second day if it's not remotely sweaty, but would definitely change it if it seemed "unfresh". Same with pyjamas; two nights if not sweaty but never more. I only do laundry once a week.

SwedishEdith · 23/03/2026 16:20

About 4 and change every 3 or 4 days. I don't find bras uncomfortable and I don't sweat under my breats. But I'll wear tops for a few days as well if I've done nothing more energetic than shower, wfh home, eat my dinner and watch tv.

NovemberMorn · 23/03/2026 16:33

WendyHoused · 23/03/2026 14:47

I only have one right now. The underwire poked through the other one and I haven't got around to replacing it.

I probably wear it for a week, but also only about 20 hours because I only put it on when I'm leaving the house, and I'm rarely out for long (I don't work anymore.)

Ghastly things, I hate them.

"Ghastly things, I hate them."

Me too, they are the first thing I discard when I get in.
I am big busted, and even after 3 or 4 wears my bra doesn't smell sweaty....I also seldom use deodorant, that's another thing I hate.

Maybe some people wash clothes just for the sake of it.

Verv · 23/03/2026 17:27

Have around 10, all underwired. Change daily in summer and every couple of days in colder weather.
Do a big handwash of them once a week.

Echobelly · 23/03/2026 17:29

I've got about 9.bras, most of them are just lycra crop top ones after I realised during lockdown I really don't need undewiring at my boob size. I wash those after every wear. I have two strapless padded bras, mostly for summer, that are washed after every few wears.

lol I only own three bras I can wear outside the house with support. Have a few training/ non wired but these are for lazy days and baggy T-shirts. I change them every 2-3 days and take them straight off when I get home

bumptybum · 24/03/2026 17:57

I do think people saying they are like any underwear are being a little disingenuous.

pants obviously are around orifices that leak fluids. Typically breasts don’t.

But OP I think you are pretty much on track. Summer I definitely wish daily as like many women, I sweat under my breasts (and they aren’t even big)

Ljcrow · 24/03/2026 17:58

Brightbluestone · 23/03/2026 11:51

I can’t believe most people change their bras every day! The only time I’ll not wear a bra again without washing it is the ones I wear to the gym. Regular days I go at least a week without washing my bra. I have about 4 I actually wear regularly. Am I gross? 🤢

Same here! I wash all other underwear and all tops daily but not bras. Maybe because I dont feel like they get much sweat on them and also because washing them makes them less comfy 🤷‍♀️ I have about 4 I wear on rotation then a "going out" one. 😄

Bufftailed · 24/03/2026 18:02

3 plus sports bras. I wear them 2-3 days. Should buy more but my size dictates v expensive ones

Yeah, agree physical exertion makes a difference. I have a sedentary job and probably don't exercise or even move about as much as I should during the week, tbh, but if I have been working up a sweat I will probably put my bra in the laundry basket that evening.

I have 2 bras and change it every 5-7 days (probably), but I'm blessed with the no BO gene (although it also codes for dry ear wax which has turned into an invisible form of torture in perimenopause).

Edited

I am EXACTLY the same.

Edinvillian · 24/03/2026 18:06

I have about 7 but have just bought another 5 in the next sale. I wash every second day unless I’ve been exercising or it’s been a hot day.

Letsskidaddle · 24/03/2026 18:23

About 50! Black, navy, pale pink, white and nude and some ‘best’ which is dressier or patterned or silky/lacey. These don’t get out as much these days! Then there’s multiways in black, white and nude.

Bras are changed daily - they all have x3 or 4 pairs of matching knickers in different shapes (eg Brazilian, high leg, seamless, thong etc). It’d ruin my day to wear unmatched underwear (which I know is ridiculous) but it’s one of my favourite things to buy and always has been.

Edited to add - I’m a bog standard 34C so can pretty much guarantee anything from anywhere will fit, and they’re not expensive usually.
