North face coat, 240quid. Would you spend it on your dd13?

I’ve already purchased ☺️ she needed one with a hood and didn’t wanted it to be cropped either so we whittled in store and ended up with the one that cost 240.

It may or may not be a current term. DS is at uni and used to use it when he was younger.

North Face is very popular at the London secondary school where I work, and has been for maybe three years or so.

One of my children had a North Face coat when he was 14, I think it cost just under £200, so yes, I’d buy it.

I’ve just spent about £370 on 2 pairs of jeans for my teen daughter and £240 on 2 hoodies, one for my adult son and one for my nephew as a birthday gift.

If it’s affordable to you and you’re happy to buy it, there is no problem.

I’ve spent more on a 4-year-old so yes, I’d spend £240 on a coat. Not North Face but I would another.

YesssSpringHasSprung · 22/03/2026 16:00

No. Look on vinted.

mindutopia · 22/03/2026 17:24

No 😂 mine would destroy it or lose it in the first month.

That said, it would be a push to spend that on a coat for myself. I saw a lovely Barbour one this year that was £220. It was nice, but I walked away without it.

BernadetteJune · 22/03/2026 17:32

NO!

Tbf she is very good with her belongings so that didn’t even enter my head.

Depends on how they care for it, not lose it. We had given DC puffer coat not North Face and lasted 4 years and lots of wear and still going.

ShetlandishMum · 22/03/2026 19:24

No.

Heatedrival · 22/03/2026 19:26

OP I got my DD a North Face puffer in Year 8 and now it Year 13 she still wears it. I got a medium and she still fits it really well.

CrikeyMajikey · 22/03/2026 20:05

No, I’d buy one on eBay.

Girasoli · 22/03/2026 20:53

Lots of girls don't get much taller after 13/14. There's a good chance she'll be able to wear it for years.

canisquaeso · 23/03/2026 07:29

No.

I was really looked after my things and did have some expensive items, but a NF coat seems like such a run of the mill item to drop unnecessary money on. She may not, but she may outgrow it quickly too.

Notmyreality · 23/03/2026 07:30

KnickerlessFlannel · 21/03/2026 20:04

Depends.if she deserves it, would.look after it, needs it, can I afford it? If yes to those things then yes.

Stupidity.

yes it fits me at age 40 and I’m a size 10 and 5ft 3 …she won’t be much taller than me if at all.

Not a chance. I did buy a north face coat for my daughter, but on vinted for £30. It's been great.

CherryNice · 23/03/2026 07:44

I’ve bought North Face Coats for my teens but not for £230.
I’m not sure I’d buy one now as I feel they’re going out of fashion. Hardly anyone wears them in my kids social circle anymore.

Spaghettea · 23/03/2026 07:46

No. They'll grow out of it, lose it, it'll get nicked.

Nosejobnelly · 23/03/2026 07:53

notacooldad · 21/03/2026 21:20

I wouldn’t. All the kids who wear North Face round here are also sporting balaclavas and riding BMXs.

thats interesting, no balaclavas round where I live.
No teens on electric bikes, wearing TNF and never seeing a mountain?

Don’t forget the phone snatchers!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/03/2026 08:01

Seems insane for a coat but if can afford it then he’s as assume will keep its value and can try and sell it after

Rubyupbeat · 23/03/2026 08:10

I think if you can afford it and they are a good kid, then go for it. I definitely would.

Rubyupbeat · 23/03/2026 08:11

Ooh second thoughts, not if they are goose feathers.

Shows how it differs to much by area, my daughters are at an academically selective girls independent school and they all have black North Face puffers!
