Well. I’m waiting to hear if I need to go to a&e ☺️🤣☺️🫣

ECG was not apparently normal. Work are going to kill me if I don’t return on Friday after annual leave and I’m instead somehow dying.

Crap timing as mil is apparently now really approaching the end.

so fingers crossed pleased that they are happy for me to wait for cardiology and I don’t have to spend the next million hours waiting to be seen in a&e.

martha79 · 23/03/2026 15:16

Oh @FurForksSake - fingers very crossed!

catshatsandchats · 23/03/2026 15:23

Hi, I'm new here, although I've been reading the threads for a while.

I wanted to ask if anyone has a regular cleaner and how did you find someone you trust? I've enquired through the council but now have to wait for assessment.

Welcome to @rainraingoaways @bedfrog @TheChicSnail and anyone else new I’ve missed.
I always think a bad flare or going backwards after a better spell really is the hardest thing to deal with, so many emotions to work through.

Well I made it to the hairdressers this afternoon. Rested all morning, DH dropped me at the door and straight back home to rest again and I’m still worn out! Probably as I’ve known the hairdresser many years so we were chatting a lot but it was nice to catch up and my hair feels a lot lighter and better for a decent trim!

Hope your appointments go smoothly @TeaAndStrumpets and @FurForksSake

Thanks @TodayIsatrickyone . I had my hair done on Saturday too and it definitely lifted my spirits.

@FurForksSake sounds very stressful- fingers crossed 🤞

TheChicSnail · 23/03/2026 15:52

Ugg so fed up of having a cold - been about a month. Taking antihistamines and antibiotics but still have a streaming nose.

feeling exhausted now. Thankfully husband back from work soon and I can head to bed for the evening as have work early tomorrow.

TeaAndStrumpets · 23/03/2026 16:07

Hello @bedfrog and @catshatsandchats nice to see you.

Sorry no tips on cleaners because I think I'd be more stessed having a stranger in the house! But we have a Roomba and DH does cooking and cleaning. A good declutter has helped.

@FurForksSake goodness hope they sort you out pronto! 💐xx

I have a roomba too, but the bending to pick things up beforehand is hard work. It swallows everything if I don't pick them up.

martha79 · 23/03/2026 16:35

Hello new people!

No help with a cleaner either, sorry - I recently got a robot hoover too and I do everything else a little bit at a time.

Nearly done with work for the day and I can see me being in bed by about 6 😴

TeaAndStrumpets · 23/03/2026 16:36

@TodayIsatrickyone I must get my hair cut. DH did it rather too enthusiastically for me last time but it ended up quite nice. Now it could do with a trim and I'm a bit wary. It was easy when he was cutting a great length (past my bra strap) but not sure he could do just an inch!

I survived seeing the consultant, hopefully I can get in at the beginning of May. He mostly does NHS and was just offering the normal lenses they do, but I thought for all that money I'd like to choose! I imagine 99% of his patiients want to see for miles but my main aim is to be able to read without glasses, with varifocals for everything else. So I spoke up and said actually I don't want to see for miles! He was fine of course...no problem...but it would have been nice if he'd told me I had a choice. I think that's consultants for you! He was actually perfectly nice so I'm more confident now.

TodayIsatrickyone · 23/03/2026 16:47

Oh no @FurForksSake just what you don’t need but I hope you can be seen quickly and everything is okay. Try not to worry about work til you know what’s going on.

Hi @catshatsandchats I did have a cleaner for some time til she changed jobs. It was someone who already cleaned for a friend tbough so not much help with how you’d find someone. I guess if you went through an agency they carry out checks etc but do seem to charge a bit more.

Ahh that sounds quite positive @TeaAndStrumpets and hopefully he can help you manage hour aim of reading without glasses. That would be fabulous!
I have a very light pair of frames and forget I’m wearing them tbh but I took them off this morning and did the classic thing of putting them down and forgetting where. Finding them again without glasses was quite the challenge 😂 I’m due another eye test soon and can I see why after this morning!

TeaAndStrumpets · 23/03/2026 16:56

@TodayIsatrickyone I only have one pair so it is panic stations if I forget where they are! Coincidentally while I was waiting this morning I saw a thread on MN about over-frame sunglasses. What a brilliant idea! I found some on Amazon which should fit nicely over my specs both now and after my cataract ops.

Back from work and in bed with a cuppa and the last of the courgette cake ☕

I am paying the price for my very social, but totally worth it, weekend. I'm exhausted and my legs are so weak it feels like I'm walking through treacle 🐢

No pain thankfully but I'm going to fire up my heat pad later just in case. DD is home from uni so that's lovely 😍

Have a restful evening all 💕

FurForksSake · 23/03/2026 17:31

@MewithME I know 🫣

GP hasn’t called so they I assume are happy for me to wait until i can see the cardiologist. But I’m guessing the cardiologist will be a bit more interested when they thought it was just POTS ☺️🤣

Yes I only have one pair too so I really was panicking! I do have a pair of just reading glasses which I could manage with at a push but I know misplaced those last week. I really need to do a good search though as they're better if I’m just reading or doing piano!
Great idea to get the over glasses sunglasses! also have some sunglasses that are magnetic and clip to my glasses ( if I can find them that is 😜)

BerfyTigot · 23/03/2026 22:01

@catshatsandchats I have a cleaner who i got through a local agency. I decided to just take a chance because I was desperate for help around the house.

The benefit of an agency is that if you don't like the cleaner who comes, you can ask the agency to send someone else without having to fire them yourself.

The cleaner who comes is great though so I've been lucky.

catshatsandchats · 23/03/2026 22:02

Thanks @BerfyTigotthat makes sense, I hadn't thought of that.

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/03/2026 08:02

Morning all!

Quite nice weather here, it's dry at least.

After my exciting trip to the ophthalmologist yesterday, today it's dental check up and hygienist. I get random pain in my teeth which I'm sure is stress/jaw related, so it's always good to get the all clear.

@FurForksSake hope you are OK.

martha79 · 24/03/2026 08:44

Good luck with the dentist @TeaAndStrumpets

Continuing work conference things for me today - I've got too many notifications coming at me and too much adrenaline, but at least I'm at home and nobody can see if I'm lying down or sticking ice packs on myself (good old weird vagus nerve calming).

Thanks it's all been vaguely medical the last week or so but I've got a few days break before I have to choose a bathroom design argh. I've tried to do it on line but it runs away from me and I end up with weird dimensions. There is a lady at the builder's merchant who can do it all on her computer so we've got an appointment to see her.

I am interested in the vagus nerve stuff. All i really know to affect it is cold water or humming so presumably ice packs do a similar thing? I get so many ridiculous symptoms from stress. The latest is excess salivation which I've had before. It will go when I've calmed down (ha!)

Hope everyone has a peaceful day.

Yes ice packs are a similar idea to cold water (it's the "mammalian dive reflex" apparently - what our bodies do when we jump into a cold lake!). Neck, chest and stomach seem to work best. Breathing exercises are also meant to help - breathing out for longer than you breathe in - and there are some other 'moves' with your eyes/ head but I've not really found they help. Oh and gargling, which I guess is similar to the humming.

Thanks for that - I suppose it's on a par with taking cold showers. Maybe with energy bills going up we should all be considering it! My uncle, alongside others. used to jump in the local dock for a swim every New Years Day.........Brrrr.

I am back from the hygienist. I always feel quite shaky afterwards. He's very thorough and it's always a bloodbath! Daren't not go though.

TodayIsatrickyone · 24/03/2026 12:15

Glad the dentist/ hygienist is done with @TeaAndStrumpets Lots of rest now. I always find the hygienist takes it out of me a bit too!

Hope you can get through your conference stuff @martha79 and the ice packs etc help.

Sofa day here. Remembering why I don’t plan stuff for consecutive days as I’m struggling today after being out 2 days on a row even though both outings were only a couple of hours.

Received a request for 24 hr BP monitoring next week from cardiologist! I emailed to explain I’d just had that done via GP but they don’t want me to cancel til they’ve had the results. I’ve now emailed my surgery as I can’t face being on hold for an hour to get through but I really don’t fancy having it done again so soon! Surely someone will be able to send him the results or that’s another 2 trips to the hospital and a night of no sleep! 🤞

TodayIsatrickyone · 24/03/2026 12:16

@FurForksSake hope you're okay x

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/03/2026 13:12

@TodayIsatrickyone that's a pain. I remember years and years ago there was an attempt to modernise all the NHS systems and it was a total fiasco and cost a fortune. No joined up systems whatsoever. It shouldn't be like this. When I went for a six monthly check up I told the nurse I'd had loads of blood tests at the hospital a few days previously but she said they can't access the results! Crazy.

Yes I was planning on resting for two days from now but just had an email from some friends who are dropping in this afternoon. I will love seeing them but it's going to be a struggle staying awake!
