I've just made the mistake of posting in a blue badge thread but I can ignore it if it goes wrong 😁

I confess I do post under different usernames a t times because I've been here for a long time and there's a lot of information that is easy to identify me. If I get identified from this thread, I'm not worried as it's a safe and harmless one. 🙂

Work stuff goes elsewhere.

But now and again, if I feel the need, I post on my alter ego name where I am more forthright! It's quite cathartic 😂 I am never mean though. I'm still me.

@bedfrog they won't stay that long. They're fine really. It's a me issue not a then issue.

@bedfrog you obviously have a splendid imagination and could make a living writing gruesome books!

There is some good stuff on ITVx though, we are watching old Rumpole episodes at the moment!

I have to bite my tongue, as it were, so often on MN threads. Some people wilfully misunderstand the OP but many have poor comprehension skills and just derail the thread with their misapprehensions. I was tempted to add a light hearted anecdote to the lube thread but as usual realised it wasn't going to add anything so I just amused myself in my head 😉

I saw the title and avoided that one 🤣

Sounds like a pleasant refuge!

It can be, very gentle like here and with people who understand 🙂

Your intuition was correct!

martha79 · 09/04/2026 11:02

Oh I love Rumpole @TeaAndStrumpets! I've been watching a lot of Doc Marten, I wonder if that's what caused the pharmacy bit of the dream 😂

@bedfrog It's fascinating - it's amazing that most of us do this thing with our brains at night and we don't really understand it. I've always had weird dreams but every so often I have a phase like now where they're extra weird and vivid.

I don't post much elsewhere on MN, am not up for heated debate really (and apparently I'm a terrible person for shopping at Next, according to one thread I tried to join in with 😆).

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/04/2026 11:09

I think I've only name changed a couple of times, once after being hounded by someone who objected to me having a different opinion to her. I did say I'd been bullied by nuns for years so her preaching at me was bouncing off. She was a real self righteous prick and I avoided threads she was on. A few years later she got a very public come uppance so that was a good moment.

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/04/2026 11:16

Erm what's the problem with Next @martha79 ?

Mind you, I always knew you were a wrong 'un. 😄

😂Terrible quality and horrible-looking clothes apparently. Next is the one of the few places where the petite clothes actually fit me though, and I love my suits from there (even if I'm not getting to wear them right now) so I don't care!

Oh I haven't been clothes shopping in person for years but remember petites being very difficult. I've done well in the Seasalt sale before now but I'm sure it's not on trend according to Style and Beauty!

bedfrog · 09/04/2026 11:50

Thanks @JewelleryCat I will check it out!

@TeaAndStrumpets I do the same thing, I will think about what I'd say and sometimes tell DH because I know he usually agrees with me. I might give Rumpole a go, never seen it before! I have been watching Home Fires on youtube as well which is nice and gentle with fab outfits. Sorry to hear about someone hounding you, it's so unnecessary. Someone's recently private messaged me telling me what exercise to do after I said on another thread I can't exercise due to disability. I get so so tired of people thinking they know better about my own body than I do.

@MewithME haha I love you have an alter ego, how glamorous!! I do tend to avoid threads about disability too because they always seem to devolve into benefits bashing. I just want a gentle life now without arguments and drama. I'm not sure I mind being identified really either, anything I post on here anyone who knows me well enough will already know about. It is nice to have a relatively anonymous space to talk in though.

@martha79 Next of all places?! Even DH likes that shop (high praise). People are mad! I might also give Doc Martin a go - I remember watching it way back and think I need to give it another go.

MewithME · 09/04/2026 12:16

@bedfrog the first and probably last time I have been called 'glamorous' 😂. I feel I need a chaise lounge and a cigarette holder and to recline in lady like fashion now.

Oioiqueen · 09/04/2026 13:20

@bedfrog wow on that dream. Mine aren't normally too vivid until I was weaning myself off Amitriptyline, they were something else and terrifying.

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/04/2026 16:10

I think I'm ready for my cataract op now, I've gathered medication list and receipt for payment and stuffed them in one jacket pocket, plus a pair of sunglasses and a peppermint teabag for emergencies in the other. Phone into a third pocket tomorrow as I leave the house. Sadly no extra pocket for a marmalade sandwich.

I have been struggling with eczema around my eyes for ages and usually dab paw paw ointment to soothe them. I've left off for a few days and now they look bad (to me) I'm worried they won't operate but we'll see, it's been observed at my initial appointment after all. I tend to catastrophise.

Most important of all I've had a good tweeze round my chin in case I can't see what I'm doing afterwards!!

JewelleryCat · 09/04/2026 16:18

Good luck for the op @TeaAndStrumpets

martha79 · 09/04/2026 16:29

Well prepared @TeaAndStrumpets - good luck!

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/04/2026 16:47

Thanks all!

MewithME · 09/04/2026 16:59

Hope all goes well @TeaAndStrumpets ! Good thinking on the chin hair. I have one that appears and is like a flipping thorn. So gross and weirdly fascinating 😂

Good luck lovely hope all goes well and you are soon recovered 💐

TodayIsatrickyone · 09/04/2026 18:35

Lots of luck for tomorrow @TeaAndStrumpets hope all goes smoothly and you can get home quickly to recover. You’ll be so relieved to get it over and done with. Hope you can sleep tonight.

Just catching up with the thread. I woke feeling like I’d overdone it yesterday along with a headache which was annoying as we’d booked a session at a dog park this afternoon. Rested all morning and felt brighter so managed to go with DH and DD.
So glad I did as it was in a forest setting so lovely and relaxing. We had the run of the whole enclosure and lots for Diddy dog to explore. She’s quite reactive so it was well worth paying for the access and freedom to just let her off lead without constantly watching out for other dogs. Couple of benches too so it was manageable for me. DH was in his element with the Merlin bird app too as lots of of birds around! So a lovely hour out and a worn out dog to boot!

JewelleryCat · 09/04/2026 18:49

The Merlin app is amazing isn’t it @TodayIsatrickyone. I just use it in my garden but it’s amazing how many birds it can pick up sometimes

Oioiqueen · 09/04/2026 21:38

Never heard of this app but we are rural and I've seen a few interesting birds so be good to know what they are above the pigeons, sparrows and blackbirds.

@TeaAndStrumpets good luck tomorrow, you sound very prepared.

Has anyone ever had chronic sinistitis? Felt awful after a cold and had orange snot. It went away but every time I have chemo it seems to come back. DH had the same thing minus the chemo (he is also immunosuppressed) and was given antibiotics which seems to have curbed his for now. I can only think it's possibly bacterial and everytime my WBC drop after chemo it over powers me. It seemed to go away during my one week break last week and now I have green snot and a tickly annoying cough again 48 hours post chemo. I definitely don't have another cold as we've avoided people the last fortnight.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 09/04/2026 21:52

Good luck @TeaAndStrumpets . Hope you can see well enough to come back & update soon 🤞.

Swanhilde · 10/04/2026 10:37

Thinking of you @TeaAndStrumpets 🤞

I overslept this morning, so no allotment today 😕

However the sun is trying to come out, so I may go and sit in my own garden later. It looks chilly though, so in the meantime I'm resting in bed with tea ☕

Have a chilled day all 💕
