Fingers crossed for you today @TeaAndStrumpets

I love the Merlin app - if I'm awake for the dawn chorus I like finding out what's singing.

Took some extra magnesium last night and slept a bit better - still weird dreams but not so dramatic. It's bright but cold here and I'm in a spring cleaning mood without the energy to match today, but have just put all the cushion covers in to wash.

TodayIsatrickyone · 10/04/2026 11:48

Morning all 👋

Thinking of you @TeaAndStrumpets

Definitely chillier today. Though may wrap up and sit out shortly. Currently just watching the birds on the bird feeders I can see from the sofa! My daily little bit of nature/ mindfulness! A quiet day here after getting out yesterday and overdoing the pruning the other day. Neck and shoulders still objecting to that sudden burst of activity!

A funny story re the merlin app, I was using it when sitting by the river a few weeks ago and DH was walking nearby with the dog. I shouted him over in great excitement as it showed a Curlew! He was a bit puzzled as we don’t get them in our area, when he whistled the dog back to him and we realised Merlin had been picking up his whistle and registering it as a curlew! 😂 DH found it very amusing!

Have a restful day all 😊

The Merlin app is amazing isn’t it @TodayIsatrickyone. I just use it in my garden but it’s amazing how many birds it can pick up sometimes

I've only recently reinstalled it. I had it a long time ago and itw as so huge it filled my phone memory. It's brilliant now. I used it at my Mum's and she got all weird about it.... saying it was wrong and one of the birds didn't sound like that 🙈

Anyway, I like it ! Disputes about accuracy aside!

And when I say weird...I mean, quite cross 😂

I am sat in the garden in my outdoors oodie. It's definitely chilly but sunshine is glorious. I'm wiped out today. Waiting for DS to go to his Dad's. I have at least 24 hours of not having to think about anything then. Thank god. My head is mashed. I do find 10 days plus of solo parenting really tiring.

TodayIsatrickyone · 10/04/2026 15:27

Better not start whistling near your mum whilst using the app @MewithME shed be furious! 😜 It’s a best fit I guess and maybe not always accurate but I enjoy it too and do get ridiculously excited if I get a rare one! I was also thrilled to see a woodpecker on the bird feeder earlier.

I imagine it must be exhausting solo parenting @MewithME thank goodness you’ve a short break from having to think about someone else!
Hope you can rest lots.

MewithME · 10/04/2026 16:30

Thanks @TodayIsatrickyone . I've dropped him off and now back in bed watching nonsense with no intention of moving for hours. I feel really weak.

Hope all went ok for @TeaAndStrumpets and everyone else is all right.

This week went fast. Work again on Monday.

Anyway... priorities... What's everyone watching just now? It's overwhelming how many options there are these days. I forget sometimes what I'm watching and on which streaming service 🙈

Sat outside this afternoon and actually got quite warm. One extremely talkative goldfinch identified by Merlin although I didn't manage to spot it.

JewelleryCat · 10/04/2026 17:44

@MewithME I’m liking the repeats of Heartbeat on ITV3 on a weekday evening

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/04/2026 17:44

Thanks for the good wishes!

Had a 4 hour wait at the clinic. In a room with 2 other ladies. I was the last one to go to theatre. Handy en suite for all the nervous wees! Went OK as far as I know. Nothing dropped off or out.

Still blurry so giving up screens for a day or so. Bye for now xxx

TodayIsatrickyone · 10/04/2026 18:07

See you when you’re less blurry @TeaAndStrumpets Lovely of you to update us 😊

We’re currently watching ‘Capture’ which is pretty good. ‘Race across the world’ is always one I enjoy too, both BBC Iplayer.
We all loved ‘last one laughing’ recently on prime if you want something funny!

FurForksSake · 10/04/2026 18:11

I’m watching the Pitt, but it’s not very relaxing! Ds2 and I have been watching old films, princess bride, ink heart, stardust.. lots of things. And then also the knives out films. And then we found a film called flavia on sky which was utterly wonderful.

im exhausted and in pain from working. I’m not taking my vitamins or eating properly. I have to work out how I make being back at work work. Monday I’ve got an ultrasound so finishing early and Wednesday I have off for mil funeral. In between it’s just coping.

MewithME · 10/04/2026 20:45

I've started back on the John Hamm thing on Apple...friends and neighbours I think it's called. It's easy to watch though I think I'll be on my trusty audiobook soon. Can't keep awake today.

I seem to have turned notifications for this thread and was wondering why it was so quiet.

Im watching Mr Mercedes- pretty gruesome

MewithME · 10/04/2026 21:49

@TheChicSnail I really wanted to like that but just found it too gratuitous. Bedtime for me. Sleep well all. Nn. 🥱

TheChicSnail · 10/04/2026 22:16

Gosh I know what you mean. I’m mortified that my parents have watched this.

sleep well xx

CoffeeBeansGalore · 11/04/2026 06:30

Morning all.
Things we've watched in the last year:
Pennyworth.
If you like police/crime dramas then Unforgotten is good.
River (same actress as Unforgotten).
Witness
Life on Mars & Ashes to Ashes were enjoyable & worth revisiting.
Coldwater - slow start but then gets good after first episode.
I worked my way through Benidorm last year. Didn't see it when it was first out. Easy watching.

We saw A Fish Called Wanda again the other day. Other films -
Hidden Figures - based in a true story about women who worked for NASA.
Keeping Mum - British black comedy with Maggie Smith.

I'm now trying to find another series for us to watch.

JewelleryCat · 11/04/2026 08:52

Ashes to Ashes I loved but didn’t get on with Life on Mars. Hidden Figures is a good film though

MewithME · 11/04/2026 09:50

Morning all. I've woken very late as I woke in the night and started thinking about work so I had to out an audiobook on to stop it!

Anyway, I have my day of freedom today so I am just going to rest and do nothing else for once. Usually when I say that, I will still do chores but I mean it today!

Going to fetch a coffee and come back to bed !

Thanks for the watching suggestions. I started with the twenty twenty six thing but it's exhausting! I love Maggie Smith @CoffeeBeansGalore . I rewatched Gosford Park last week...such an amazing film. On iPlayer if anyone hasn't seen it.

Day 3 of my crash. Still exhausted, banging headache, sore legs ... Going to stay in bed but I do need a shower at some point 😔

Hopefully will feel better tomorrow as we have a family birthday Sunday lunch to go to and I don't want to miss that 🤞

Have a restful day all 💕

FurForksSake · 11/04/2026 10:13

Have we all watched the other bennet sister? That was fab.

Yes, I’ve been watching it. Haven’t binged because sometimes it’s nice to watch weekly so will be watching tomorrow

FurForksSake · 11/04/2026 10:19

I was being good with it and then binged. I might rewatch soon.

im currently watching the cleaning lady, which is quite interesting but not too taxing.

TodayIsatrickyone · 11/04/2026 10:31

Morning all, quiet day here. May pop to mums for an hour later if I’m up to it as haven't been for a while but not much else.

DD has started watching ‘Greys anatomy’ this week and despite having seen it, I’m invested again! We watched a couple last night. It’s quite funny as she’s pretty squeamish so hates the surgery element but is hooked by the story lines! I’m more concerned there are about 20 series of it and she’s got exams looming! She has done some revision this holiday most days tbf but nothing like the 9 hours a day one teacher suggested! 😮

Sorry today is no better @Swanhilde hope things settle and you can make the family lunch.

Enjoy a chilled day everyone
