Oh your poor doggy @Dozymoo42 I do hope she soon picks up and doesn’t need to stay in. 🤞

@JewelleryCat waving 👋

@TeaAndStrumpets nose rings 8:30 had me in stitches 😂 If you ever need a new username 😂

@MewithME that sounds like sensible planning missing the staff development day 😜 Hope you get to read in the garden. I’m currently doing just that though do seem to keep needing to get up for various things plus the dog is with me so needing to keep an eye on her & an ear out for any woofing and distract quickly so it’s not quite as relaxing as I’d like! Lovely feeling the sun though so I’m definitely not complaining.

JewelleryCat · 08/04/2026 13:58

@TodayIsatrickyone waving back 👋

martha79 · 08/04/2026 14:06

Hope the doggy feels better soon @Dozymoo42

Having a quiet work day, and popping out for short breaks in the sunshine (I'm not complaining, but I keep getting too hot and the tree pollen is not my friend, so not sitting for too long at a time).

My dad was meant to be coming for a visit from tomorrow but he's now got a horrible cough/ cold (I suspect he picked it up in the hospital) so just been sorting out changing train tickets and postponing that for a few weeks. I can't decide whether to cancel the leave I've taken for Monday and Tuesday, but am tending towards being off anyway.

What are you up to today if you have a chronic illness? Thread 7
Dozymoo42 · 08/04/2026 14:21

Thank you everyone she’s currently curled up in her bed with me in my office feeling very sorry for herself 😢 just hoping the extra fluids help 🤞

Swanhilde · 08/04/2026 15:43

Gorgeous dafs @martha79

Ended up taking DD for lunch after my massage, as she had an opticians appointment in town, which was lovely. I'll miss her when she goes back to uni on Monday ☺️

It's her 21st soon and I've just spent a ridiculous amount on her on the JellyCat website 😂

And I have done the weeding, well started it at least. Set an alarm for 30 mins and ended up doing 40. Am now sat in my lounger drinking tea in the sun ☀️

FuzzyPuffling · 08/04/2026 15:55

Waving at you all.
It's too hot here today. ( Moan moan moan!) I tried to sit in the garden but had to come in after 15 mins. Still, that's my vitamin D for the day and I've got the washing all fine and dry.

Swanhilde · 08/04/2026 16:09

Garden in a jar 💕

Glad I’m not the only one who sets an alarm and then ignores it @Swanhilde I set a 15 min alarm this morning when I was trying to pace the housework but carried on at least another 10 mins. 😀

DH and DD were out today so my sitting in the garden to rest also turned into watering the pots and then ‘just’ taking a few bits off yet another overgrown shrub! 🌳 which was probably a bit silly given I’d already had a busy ( for me) morning. I did feel okay this morning and visible agreed but got plans to pop out tomorrow afternoon so hope I haven’t overdone it. 🤞 Still it was nice to have a bit more energy than usual. Lying down now!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 08/04/2026 17:04

@Dozymoo42 hope you all have a better night tonight & little doggo is better in the morning.

Dozymoo42 · 08/04/2026 17:23

Thank you @CoffeeBeansGalore we are doing a shift each with her tonight then at least we get some sleep 😴
@TodayIsatrickyone it’s so hard to just stop doing something when your on a roll and not feeling too bad very easy to overdo it! Glad you got to enjoy some sun in the garden!

love the flowers @Swanhilde 💐

👋 hiya @FuzzyPuffling love it when it’s nice enough to peg out 🧺

just finished work and off for a nap before I fall down god bless blackout blinds 🥰

Garden in a jar 💕

That is so beautiful. I'm hoping to have enough flowers for a few vases this year but my garden is the size of a postage stamp so they may be small vases!

I just copied you and snipped a few bluebells to add to my vase of yellow chrysanthemums 😊

I'm banking on the weather not getting really cold again and have cleaned out my log burner, and smartened it up with stove black.
Guaranteed to snow now!

martha79 · 08/04/2026 20:14

Umm, the weather app on my phone was saying snow for Tuesday earlier, but it does tend to be a bit extreme with its predictions!

It's so warm this evening though - went for a walk round the block and it felt like a summer evening.

Swanhilde · 09/04/2026 09:32

Terrible night's sleep, feel like I've been hit by a bus. Must have overdone the weeding yesterday 😕

No plans for this morning so am staying in bed and resting. Drs after lunch for the latest chapter in the ear saga 🤞

Have a peaceful day all 💕

martha79 · 09/04/2026 09:53

Good luck with the ear @Swanhilde!

Another night of ridiculous dreams here - this time I was apparently moving house, with the help of my friend who was in a weird vintage car (and she was also briefly popping to the Glastonbury festival in the afternoon, just for a few hours), but also somehow at the same time working in a pharmacy, and struggling to find all my belongings as they were on the shelves amongst the bandages and medicines. I think I need a replacement brain...

Otherwise, tired but not feeling too awful today. A quiet day at work and then I'm off until Wednesday.

You did do a lot yesterday! Hope GP can help with the ear.

I'm conceding I'll need hearing aids soon, but managing for a bit longer as there are so many expenses at the moment.

I've been going round the house making it safe for after my op. I believe bending over is bad, so I've made sure anything I need is accessible. I hadn't realised how often I bend down and push in or pull out a plug. Our sockets are ancient and quite low down. Also bought a grabber, they look useful.

DH has a friend round - they are removing an ancient car trailer from down the garden...an elegant garden feature where the best brambles are! Friend is also happy to take our old climbing frame away, he's going to use it to help reach the roof when he's washing his campervan!

Nice day for it.

MewithME · 09/04/2026 10:11

@martha79 dreams are so weird aren't they? I have wild ones now and again. I seem to be in a phase of not often remembering them. Not sure if that means my sleep quality isn't good.

I woke a few times last night.

Feel v weak today. I have friends calling in later which I really can't say no to as they're passing through and haven't seen them for a long time. It'll be nice to see them but I am not feeling thrilled about coping with noise or entertaining at home with primary age children (they're good kids and it's me not them but I have low tolerance for young children and their gadgets and energy 🙈). Was actually thinking it'd be easier to go outdoors to meet up than cope with people here. House is a tip too.

Sorry you're not feeling great @Swanhilde Hope the ear gets sorted!

OP posts:
TeaAndStrumpets · 09/04/2026 10:25

@MewithME there is a fine balance between wanting to see people and the effort of tidying for them. I was at the dental hygienist the other week and (he is always very chatty) he asked me what I was doing the rest of the day. I said we were having visitors at short notice so I was rushing home to clean the toilet. Then I thought maybe that was over-sharing!

bedfrog · 09/04/2026 10:38

Morning everyone! Feeling a bit improved after having some time off work, but I definitely overdid it in the garden yesterday and woke up very stiff.

I also made the mistake of posting on another threat on MN - people are so argumentative, I think I'll stick to this thread only in the future.

Today I need to pot up some seedlings and go to the garden centre for some bits but I'm not sure I'll have the energy... so I'll be watching some crap ITV drama on my laptop in bed instead I think 😅
@martha79 I also have the weirdest dreams, they're always really morbid too for some reason (I'm not really a morbid person!) - last night's dream was me embalming someone in a funeral parlour. Really weird. I wonder if it's just the disability, because we watch more TV than the average healthy person, or something to do with the combination of medications we take when we're disabled?! it should be researched.

Hope your appt goes ok @Swanhilde
Good luck for your op @TeaAndStrumpets
You need one of those 'Please leave by 9' posters @MewithME 🙊

JewelleryCat · 09/04/2026 10:51

@bedfrog yes stick to nice threads because other parts of MN can be very argumentative

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/04/2026 10:52

@bedfrog you obviously have a splendid imagination and could make a living writing gruesome books!

There is some good stuff on ITVx though, we are watching old Rumpole episodes at the moment!

I have to bite my tongue, as it were, so often on MN threads. Some people wilfully misunderstand the OP but many have poor comprehension skills and just derail the thread with their misapprehensions. I was tempted to add a light hearted anecdote to the lube thread but as usual realised it wasn't going to add anything so I just amused myself in my head 😉
