I do but my dd loves seasonal decorations

Magicisuponus · 08/03/2026 22:20

No but I don’t think I did when they were little 🫣

Same. I have only seen Easter decorations as a "thing" on mumsnet TBH.

Whatwouldnanado · 08/03/2026 22:27

Of course it’s worth it! Have fun. We do a little Easter tree and a few other bits, pots of bulbs etc. My dd in early 20s will be home to make sure!
It cheers us up when the weather’s poor, nice way of looking forward to Spring.

I put up a few decorations. I do it because I like them and it's a bit of fun.

hididdlyho · 08/03/2026 22:29

If the decorations make you happy then that's a perfect reason to do it.

MrsAvocet · 08/03/2026 22:29

We don't decorate for Easter and never have done, but if you want to, why not? There's nothing wrong with it being "just" for you. You are allowed to do things that make you happy!

ButteryBreadPudding · 08/03/2026 22:32

Never heard anyone decorating for Easter

FionnulaTheCooler · 08/03/2026 22:32

Nah, can't be arsed. When DD was little she would sometimes make something at Brownies and we always made an Easter bonnet for their yearly bonnet parade but now she's older I don't decorate. We'll probably do some easter baking and I've got her a basket of treats for Easter Sunday.

AquaFurball · 08/03/2026 22:37

Decorate for you @Briewedge

Our large extended family have always decorated, even before I was born. It's one of the few times in the year that multiple smaller family groups celebrate together. I would be surprised if the next generation doesn't continue.

pinkpony88 · 08/03/2026 22:38

I have no children and put them up entirely for my benefit. (Although DH secretly loves the straw bunny) 😉

LittleRoom · 08/03/2026 22:39

Gosh I don't think I've ever seen Easter decs in a home.

Vivienne1000 · 08/03/2026 22:40

I put an egg garland on the door and decorate the dining table. Then lots of pastel fresh flowers….

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 08/03/2026 22:41

I do, they kids (teen and adult) still get joy from them and it’s nice having some of the same ones out that we got over 25 years ago.
Likewise the Easter bunny still leaves treats.

TheChosenTwo · 08/03/2026 22:42

I’ve never decorated for Easter and have one teen now, other 2 are adults.
i imagine shops like the Range are absolutely full of pastel coloured bunnies!

Neither have I, but if someone wants to decorate, then why not?

Is it a recent thing to do so? Easter was very special when I was a child in the 1960s, but we didn't have Easter decorations. Just an Easter egg hunt and a small token gift.

AllSlippersareBanned · 08/03/2026 22:44

I’ve only ever done spring flower arrangements for Easter, but this year, I’m thinking of upping the ante as our sons’ girlfriends are coming for the whole weekend.

I’m thinking about a door garland and Easter place settings.

ChoosingMyOwnRandomUsername · 08/03/2026 22:45

It was only this year we begrudgingly (inwardly...outwardly to ds3 we were delightful) decorated for halloween. Ds3 (8) begged to because alllll his friends do. I mean we always did pumpkins but when our elder two (18 and 16) were little, decorations weren't such a 'thing'.

So now we do Xmas (obvs), halloween...and we 'do' the bastard elf.

The Easter Bunny can get fucked if he thinks i'm buying a load more tat to decorate for Easter too.

Zov · 08/03/2026 22:54

I put Easter decorations/an Easter display up, in the window and have a nice Easter/Spring wreath on the door, and I put a few ornaments in the front garden. I have NO children at home - or grandchildren at all. I do it for me, and the kids in my road love it, like they love my Halloween decorations and Autumn display and Christmas lights display. I do it for the enjoyment of it, and because it looks pretty, (and DH likes it as well,) and the fact that the kids in the road like it is a bonus.

Around a dozen or so other people in my village who are around my age - late 50s - and some who are even older than me - also put stuff up, and they don't have kids at home either. Some have no grandchildren. We just do it because we enjoy it. Smile

I have LOADS of Spring flowers too. Grin

I live in a village, quite rural, and with an almost non existent crime rate, and this is just something that people do out here. Never happened in the suburb I lived in on the edge of a large town. The stuff outside would have been nicked within 3 days of putting it out! (Lived in this village for over a decade, and nothing has ever been stolen. I love it here!)

whereisitnow · 09/03/2026 04:43

No and I don’t know anyone who does.

MsSmartShoes · 09/03/2026 05:13

i don’t have any Easter decorations. I will have a vase of daffodils for the next few weeks though.

piscofrisco · 09/03/2026 05:58

Yes I do. Always have and probably always will. My kids are 18 and 20. They love it!

MinnieMountain · 09/03/2026 06:22

MIL has a branch that she decorates with seasonal things and she'll have things on her front windowsill.

Not my bag, but if it makes you happy, why not?

bringthewashingin · 09/03/2026 06:25

I have a couple of Easter decorations and I always have Spring flowers in vases in the house…we don’t even have children!!
