No but I’ve never known anyone who put decorations up for Easter.

QuiteUnbelievable · 09/03/2026 18:40

Yes I definitely will ,we live in a small house and dressing it for Easter Xmas and Halloween helps to swtich things up a little

binnibonnieboo · 09/03/2026 18:48

Have never once done this nor has anyone I know

tinyspiny · 09/03/2026 18:53

I’ve never put up Easter decorations , whatever age .

Theresalittlebitofwitchinyou · 09/03/2026 18:54

We paint eggs and wing them down hills but that’s as far as it goes really and is largely to amuse DH. Our house is covered in hares with eggs anyway which could be tied into Ostara and the Hare but is mainly because we have a pet hare and one of his (many) nicest photos is with a painted egg. (Another is wearing a snowball on his head when he was playing with snow for the first time so that counts in my Winter decorating too)

Calypsocuckoo · 09/03/2026 19:05

We have some decorations, a twig tree that we hang some egg decorations on, a few ceramic rabbits for a garden centre, some knitted chicks that you can put a creme egg in and a crochet basket that my late MIL made to display Easter chocolates, and a Easter egg wreath for the front door. We do this for the benefit of family who come to visit and stay over the Easter weekend, and I decorate the dining table for Easter dinner with a floral table cloth (hand embroidered by my MIL and handed down to me) and some Easter table mats ( years and years old from Laura Ashley), and a vase of flowers. We also do an Easter egg hunt in the garden with some little buckets for the children (and teenagers) to put their finds in.
we do this because we love to host, and I love house decor and decorating and celebrating with my family. I think it shows people they are welcome and we have made an effort for them. It also makes me happy. It’s not tat and waste, it isn’t plastic and lots of items have been handed down or gifted by family or visitors, and nothing gets thrown away, it helps make our traditions with the family, and I will hand down to my DC if they want to host.

After years of finding an "Easter branch" that we'd decorate with ribbons and hanging egg decorations, and would either over balance in the vase, or be climbed by the cat, we finally succumbed to a white wire tree a bit like this one: https://amzn.eu/d/0fBvnoVD

We decorate that for all holidays, Easter, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's.

We would do it whether DD was home or not, its just a little bit of light jollity, and we enjoy that.

Never heard anyone decorating for Easter

A palm cross and a holy week poster be grand.

Fishingboatbobbingnight · 09/03/2026 19:32

Easter is my absolute favourite celebration time. The main reason for this is that unlike Christmas, this one is really all about just spending time with family . No pressure to spend any money on any unnecessary tat. The idea of going to a shop to buy Easter decorations, to me, seems like a slippery slope towards the gruesome uber commercialism that has sucked the joy from Christmas.

in our home, we ‘secret Santa a big egg so everyone gets on each and hide small eggs all over the garden for grandchildren.

Then all sit down for a big fat Sunday lunch with the whole family. Which is for us - still the important bit. No weeks of planning, just super stress free.

Offherrockingchair · 09/03/2026 19:35

Always, but then we inherited the Easter tree tradition and the little wooden eggs from German relatives. DPs have done it for years, certainly since the 70s. We also always make a simnel cake.

Moonlightfrog · 09/03/2026 19:46

No, but then I have never put up Easter decorations and I don’t know anyone else who does 😬. For me Easter is just a pain in the bum. We don’t really celebrate it other than maybe eating a chocolate egg…..because I love chocolate.

mathanxiety · 09/03/2026 19:51

I have an adult DD living with me and I always do.

tutugogo · 09/03/2026 19:53

Really? I’ve never seen these in real life. What’s an Easter tree?

tutugogo · 09/03/2026 19:55

@ZenNudist. Actually yes I pin the palm cross on the door, that technically is a decoration and I put the poster up with the “he is risen” flap in the window.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 09/03/2026 20:08

We don't really bother except for the Egg Tree, Egg Stockings hung on the fireplace, Egg Pies, of course. And for dinner a huge roasted egg with all the trimmings. (eggs in blankets, eggs stuffing and egg sprouts etc.)

I love Easter. I much prefer it to Christmas for the same reason.

Ilovelurchers · 09/03/2026 21:59

I've never decorated for Easter but my brother and sister in law do and they don't have any kids! SIL is German, and apparently it's more of a thing there, though I only have her word for rhis? (They decorate for Halloween too - I think they are just really in to decorating for special occasions generally).

I like seeing their decorations, and often wish I was organised and house proud enough to do this myself.

thatsthatsaidthemayor · 09/03/2026 22:00

Kids have left. Just me. I do.

onelumporthree · 09/03/2026 22:20

I went into B&M at today. They are stacked out with Easter tat ornaments. Who buys this stuff?

MountainofWashing · 09/03/2026 22:31

This the first time I've heard of Easter decs? Is there an Easter version of bah humbug!.. never did the Easter bunny either
Still buy eggs though so not all bad.

Pernicketywishes · 09/03/2026 22:32

I tend to have a jug on the windowsill with pussy willows and some ceramic and wooden eggs hanging from.

We used to make Easter crafts when the kids were little, I’m sure they’ll be into some baking but not the crafts so much these days.

Anything to brighten up the place, and don’t shoot me but I’ll probably make a Spring/Easter wreath too. Always natural, often dried flowers etc which I’ll reuse.

Maddy70 · 09/03/2026 22:33

No but never did for younger children either tbh

catinateacup · 09/03/2026 22:39

We usually have a vase of twigs with some pastel eggs and decorations on for Easter, and maybe a couple of wire decorations with bunnies on hanging up somewhere. And some flowers and some Easter napkins for the table. DD is 13.

No more than that, but I notice that the last few years around where my parents live, people have been putting spring flower wreaths and Easter decorations on their front doors at Easter. Maybe it’s becoming a Thing?

YiddlySquat · 09/03/2026 22:46

People who celebrate Easter put up decorations?! I don’t think I’ve ever seen any Easter decorations in the shops, beyond egg hunt thingamies.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 09/03/2026 23:00

God, no. Firstly, I'm a traditionalist and am very satisfied with some nice spring flowers, like daffs, or even just bluebells out of the garden, MIL will send us an Easter card. When the kids were little they might have made little Easter baskets in school, or there may have been a fluffy chick toy (you could make a pompom chick) or a bunny or something. But that's it as far as decorations go. I remember loving blowing eggs when I was about 10 and hand painting them, doing it all myself and making a little display. I thought I was really arty and fancy ha ha

Secondly, keeping celebrations simple one of the nicest thing about Easter, in my view, I love not feeling like I have to go mad decorating the house like at Christmas. It's lovely relaxed family time without all the pressures of Christmas.

Secondly, the world most DEFINITELY does not need more plastic tat, when you can decorate in a much more environmentally friendly way. The plastic shit exists solely to make Home Bargains, the Range etc a ton of profit, then gets shoved into the cupboard and forgotten about.
