There is so much wrong with that

Indeed.

PandoraSocks · 07/03/2026 10:10

Badenoch presumably approved that?

DuncinToffee · 07/03/2026 10:16

She has been saying welfare cuts to pay for defence so it fits,

🙄

That begs the question of why they didn’t do that when they were in power and that money was available. The amnesia about their 14 years in power is quite incredible.

Evenstar · 07/03/2026 10:20

As it was on their Facebook page (which I don’t follow🤢) and she was mentioned in the caption I expect she approves

Yes, I saw it on the Conservative's x feed which tagged her in. Who is she hoping to appeal to with it? It makes her look very spiteful and cruel.

Notonthestairs · 07/03/2026 10:44

The Conservatives introduced the two child cap and did not in fact use the money to invest in defence.
once again they are relying on the populace having a very short term memory (which may be right).

DuncinToffee · 07/03/2026 10:51

Maybe they are thinking that poor people are more likely to join the armed forces?

Plus they haven't learnt from their mistakes whilst in Government and are merely doubling down.

Just listening to Badenoch now on Sky at her spring conference.

she talks as if our current situation isn’t caused by the Tory’s.

She actually used the phrase “mortgage rates are going up”

nook e denies they are fluctuation a few points but who was in charge when they trebled?

Apparently Starmer is swanning around the world on the international political stage instead of at home. But yet at the same time he should apparently be sending our troops to war internationally.

Grrrrrr - she winds me up. I have no issue with opposition holding government to account. In fact I encourage it.

But all she does is talk in her annoying voice about the economy her party created.

itsgettingweird · 07/03/2026 11:37

And he’s she said they would reintroduce the 2 child benefit cap and increase defence spending.

placemats · 07/03/2026 11:45

Bandwagon Tories be saying YEEHAH and this is our way back from obscurity.

I suspect they have no comprehension of how long that road is. Although losing their deposit last week should be a bit of a clue.

After all those scaremongering threads about conscription and boots on the ground in Ukraine, they now want to go to war?

Just had a young acquaintance on the phone (29 years old) blagging some free tech advice 😀.

As luck would have it, my doorbell went and it was a gentleman punting Reform leaflets and wanted to talk.

Because I am young at heart I have developed the younger generations habit of walking and talking, so my polite but firm comment that I had no intention of supporting fascism and if the gentleman could rely that message back to his traitorous boss I would be much obliged.

As I closed the door I reallised I hadn't muted the call, and my young chum had heard it all.

"Was that a Reform canvasser ?"
"Yes ?"
"Why didn't you tell them to fuck off ?" (they have worked with me).

after some unprofessional bemoaning the state of politics they said

"I saw a facebook post from that Kemi person yesterday. In a tank. Saying they'd cut welfare to go to war. Who the fuck wants a war ? No one I know."

Tech advice delivered, I had to get something out of my eye. The youth of today eh ?

I've just ordered a new front door today and am very happy 😊

It's a lot of money but it's so gorgeous 🥰

Anyway carry on.

Love that conversation @SerendipityJane

Exactly. All the posters saying Starmer should send his DC first etc. They are all singing a different tune now.

Much projection there by bozo.

The right wing obsession with sovereignty crumbles in the face of Trump. It's like a weird pick me dance.
Turns out we dont want to decide our own foreign policy after all.

The pussy grabber has insulted our armed forces, insulted NATO, insulted Zelensky, threatened Denmark and Greenland, repeatedly trusted Putin, imposed tariffs, removed Maduro and then left the regime in place and now decided to go to war with Iran.

According to the right wing we should be grateful of the chance to follow in their wake.

We cant afford infrastructure projects or disabled kids transport to schools.
Burt we can afford to spend how ever many millions of dollars a day in order to see that Trump gets his Delcy Rodriguez of choice in Iran.
