Tis no surprise. His bigly thing is to get rid of the ECHR, part of the international Good Friday agreement. Which is linked to the Common Agreement Area and why Ireland isn't, despite being a member of the EU, a member of the Schengen Area.

I had to wait until I was 58 to understand the difference between Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. And even now it would take a blowtorch and pliers to make me try to explain it in public.

It's the Island of Ireland now. Sinn Fein rules in Northern Ireland, but don't sit in Parliament because of reasons historical.

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. And even now it would take a blowtorch and pliers to make me try to explain it in public.

So the difference is as thin as a the width of a thin paper, the thinnest paper you ever did see.

BIossomtoes · 22/03/2026 19:36

I bet Burnham’s incandescent.

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2026 19:39

It must be like Groundhog Day for the poor families.

placemats · 22/03/2026 21:48

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2026 18:09

It has very sad face, very sad, 'journalist' face Chris Mason written all over it.

Judith Moritz? Don't make me laugh. She's not an investigative journalist. She just reports news.

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2026 22:16

Yes she is. Has been for years.

RelativisticJet · 23/03/2026 05:17

Utterly reprehensible - I look forward to the Government condemning this in the strongest terms, and to announce what they intend to do to protect the Jewish community in the UK.

Four ambulances belonging to a Jewish ambulance service have been set on fire outside a London synagogue in an anti-Semitic attack.

The ambulances, which are part of Hatzola Northwest’s fleet, a volunteer Jewish emergency medical service, were fire bombed early on Monday at Golders Green, northwest London.

Police confirmed it was investigating the incident, which was being treated as an “anti-Semitic hate crime”.

Footage circulating on social media showed multiple ambulances engulfed in flames as loud explosions sounded in the area.

Saucery · 23/03/2026 06:18

It’s Eleanor Moritz who ‘just’ reports the news, which is perhaps a little confusing for some people? Judith Moritz has been investigative for a long while.
Even if it weren’t, ‘sadface’ for the Hillsborough families……fuck me, that’s coming across as callous.
The Home Secretary refusing to meet them is astoundingly arrogant.

Piggywaspushed · 23/03/2026 06:40

Thanks saucery. Yes, I'm not sure what that's all about placemats . You are going to get us accused of being Labour bots who defend the government no matter what. The Hillsborough fallout has been going on so long now and was reaching a good and important solution, brokered in large part by Labour politicians - and Mahmood is in danger of undoing this important relationship with the families and the club.

And re the events in Golders Green, of course the government will condemn this.

Well, the PP just called the Home Secretary as ‘astoundingly arrogant’, so let’s see.

Saucery · 23/03/2026 07:15

No, I didn’t say she was astoundingly arrogant, I said refusing to meet the Hillsborough families was astoundingly arrogant. The first describes a general personality trait, the second describes her actions (or lack of them) in this particular instance.

PickAChew · 23/03/2026 07:29

Wes Streeting, the health secretary, has described this as a sickening attack.

RelativisticJet · 23/03/2026 07:30

Fair enough, but how many instance of ‘astoundingly arrogant’ behaviour does she need to exhibit, before she can more broadly be labelled as such?

PandoraSocks · 23/03/2026 07:35

We all know that pp is hostile towards this thread and its posters and is a regular on the LiW threads.

So why did they come rushing to this particular thread in the early morning to make a post about this horrific anti-semitic attack? Is it some sort of attempt to stir things up or point score against the government? Either way, it seems to me to be deeply unpleasant and rather disturbing behaviour.

It’s best ignored.

RelativisticJet · 23/03/2026 07:38

No hostility to this thread or its posters from me - why would you post such a thing?

I am very hostile to the anti-semite arsonists who attacked the Golder’s Green synagogue, however.

PandoraSocks · 23/03/2026 07:39

BIossomtoes · 23/03/2026 07:36

Yes. I shouldn't have reacted. I will go back to ignoring!

RelativisticJet · 23/03/2026 07:45

You do you.

I shall meanwhile continue to call out anti-semitism, whenever and wherever I see it.

LizzieW1969 · 23/03/2026 07:50

Starmer has just condemned the anti-Semitic arson attack as well, as did Wes Streeting.

So would anyone with an ounce of decency and humanity.

Odfod.

Trying to accuse people on this thread of being anti semitic because of what?

That's a new low.

DuncinToffee · 23/03/2026 07:54

I saw the video posted by Paul Brand on bluesky. Horrific.

Hope arrests will be made soon

It does make you wonder why lurkers pop up to share this bit of news

How the heck is cutting and pasting news onto a thread on which posters have never ever been anti-semitic "calling out anti-semitism"?
