In court this week, think this is the last part of their legal stuff? Anyway, what has really struck me with this is how the Daily Mail have been complicit in her narrative and the abuse he gets. It’s came out in the court she has made 30k from them, selling her stories. I’m aware it’s an absolute rag, but paying someone with an DVRO and running their stories, in an attempt to paint their victim in a negative light is surely low, even by their standards?

I searched Lexis and West and couldn’t find any cases where this judge had made any such orders. That’s not to say he hasn’t of course, depending on the crapness of my research 😄

Those aren't necessarily the kinds of orders that would make it onto westlaw unfortunately, or not in an easily searchable way (it depends on what you account coverage is too). You could cross reference the applicable legal rule with orders. It may be better to search for sanctions motions generally and then see if you can find any references that way (as in cases where litigants reference a judge making an order on their own motion as an example of something that was a really stupid thing to do). You may need to helicopter out a bit to find any such orders. It's kind of like looking for granted motions for reconsideration - they are like unicorns but they do happen. And when they do happen the order tends to not give a heck of a lot of reasoning or detail - so to find them you need to search for the underlying motions. Of course, when it's done sua sponte there is no motion to look for :) So if needs be then simply look for DVRO and Sanctions and see if you can whittle it down from there. You might also try something similar like a custody order. Sanctions issues regularly crop up in discovery, so you could also try that route more generally.

Most litigants would never get themselves into that kind of a stupid mess because most people would never take a photo of the person they are accused of harassing while they are in a courtroom - let alone the court that issued the DVRO in the first place! And most DVRO breaches would be handled in the first instance by the criminal justice system. This case is procedurally all over the place. Any violation of a DVRO should have been handled far more quickly than it has been, particularly given the fact that, in theory a breach is a breach is a breach - there is no need for it to be a BIG breach for it to be deemed contempt of court etc.

Oops, we've gone off on a procedural tangent :) I am actually interested to see what happens here. The fact the court didn't hold AE immediately in contempt for taking photos is a surprise - that's the kind of thing courts absolutely hate (see for example the Judge being angry about ringing cellphones).

So Andrea burkharts round up of yesterdays day in court was interesting. The detective who was speaking as a witness confirmed that vile Twitter accounts used to abuse and hound Bianca and ioan were traced to Alice’s phone number and the home address via IP identification.

The second witness who used to be the lady who ran Ioans fan club who Alice managed to convince that ioan was an awful abuser talked about how Alice admitted she was going to drag this out for as long as possible, lie about ioan using sex workers, drugs and was bouncing his cheques for the bills to ruin his credit score, Alice also gave out his address and told people to send bags of dog shit to his house.

All of this in email proof verified by professionals.

Wow she’s vile. What an absolute nut case.

She seems to forget you only get one life and one chance of happiness. 60-90 years then you’re dust. Why on earth would you spend all that energy and time on someone who you clearly don’t like. So bitter and twisted.

Mind blowing.

First bit of good news to come out of the courtroom… her Domestic Violence Restraining Order has been extended for another 5 years!

ThiagoJones · 04/03/2026 19:14

And the judge ruled that she breached the existing restraining order on multiple occasions.

StressedLP1 · 04/03/2026 19:40

Wow. How does that impact her claim for spousal support?

Not sure yet, and they’re running out of time to decide on that so sadly it looks like it’s going to be dragged out even longer.
No one should have to pay their abuser.

Unknown - it looks like the violations the judge focused on were old-school, physical proximity events. He doesn’t seem as aware of the impact of online harassment on a targeted person, or think much of it as a qualification for DV. But I guess he could understand that the online campaign damaged Ioan’s earning ability and connect that to spousal? Maybe?

MrsLizzieDarcy · 04/03/2026 20:22

It was really sad to read that Ioan was looking down through most of his time in court. Male or female, no one should have to sit in a court space with someone they have a DVRO against. Ever.

And listen to her attorney basically DARVO him and imply her abuse of him was all his own fault. It must have been a hard week for him.

Hearing that Alice's "supporters" had sent death threats to his 3 month old baby was just disgusting 😡

ThiagoJones · 04/03/2026 21:26

I don’t know how a single person could listen to everything that’s happened in court over the past few weeks and still have any remaining sympathy for her. She’s an abuser. She hasn’t changed and she won’t change.

Dunglowing · 04/03/2026 21:45

Who’s worse Amber Herd or AE?

That is absolutely horrific. And for her to learn that people are doing that and to do absolutely nothing to tell them that such behaviour is disgusting really is awful. The testimony given about her trying to incite her fans into "harassing by proxy" was really vile: that takes a particularly unpleasant character to cause others to spread lies and threats and gossip as an attempt to do an end run around a Domestic Violence Restraining Order. I certainly hope the Judge gives significant weight to that testimony when deciding what to do in terms of continue spousal support. No abuse victim should ever have to give a single penny to the person who has abused them.

Who’s worse Amber Herd or AE?

They can both get in the bin. I would err on the side of saying AE just because her ex does not appear to have done anying remotely unpleasant - certainly nothing that has been given in evidence in this case.

ThiagoJones · 04/03/2026 21:49

Dunglowing · 04/03/2026 21:45

Who’s worse Amber Herd or AE?

I don’t think it’s a competition really. However I think Johnny Depp also did some horrific things, whereas all Ioan has done is leave an unhappy marriage.

Dunglowing · 04/03/2026 22:01

I would agree with both your points re Ioan / Johnny - but also add that AE’s behaviour will have severely emotionally impacted 3 young children directly which will likely skew their development and MH.

Notatallanamechange · 04/03/2026 22:39

I don’t expect any reasonable reporting in the daily mail.

I appreciate Andrea B’s updates from the trial, but I could do without her rants about “feminism” being the root of all Alice-coddling evil. She seems to be fundamentally misunderstanding the “believe women” slogan to mean “unquestioningly believe women and favor them over men” - common, but wrong.

“Believe women” actually means “don’t refuse to take a police report and brush the whole thing off”. Literally women were being ignored in police stations, told that married couples all argue, just go back and make up with your husband he’s probably sorry. Or the boyfriend would show up and explain his bleeding girlfriend had misunderstood, that she’d already been falling down the stairs and he lunged to catch her, and then all the guys would chuckle about hallucinating women and then he’d get her home and show her how much worse it would be if she ever went to the police again. THAT is why you “believe women” - you hear their side and investigate and decide factually. Just as you would a man. Because that’s what feminism is: equal rights for men and women.

Anyhow. I get AB’s frustration that Alice’s lawyer is mashing the Poor Defenceless Woman button as hard as she can, and I wouldn’t even argue it’s not misandry - but I know it ain’t feminism.

Just bugged me and had to get it out of my system.

Gremlinsateit · 05/03/2026 00:58

Lol, all these years I was feeling sympathetic about the obvious serious mental health issues being faced by that nice actress from 101 Dalmatians, and TIL that Alice Evans =/= Joely Richardson 🤦‍♀️

LizzieSiddal · 05/03/2026 06:57

As someone suggested upthread, the DM will probably now turn on AE. Mind you they may do a “I was an addict and am now very ashamed” puff piece.

Whichever , I actually hate that “newspaper”, it’s so full of lies, hate and bile.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 05/03/2026 08:48

I think it was me who mentioned the DM potentially turning on Alice. All I based it on is that they gave Lauryn Goodman a platform for ages to harass Kyle Walkers wife and family and then suddenly turned against her.

Logically it stands to reason that they'll do the same with Alice or they will be seen to be endorsing an abuser. But it's the Mail, so...

AnotherChangeDay · 05/03/2026 09:48

The DM will do their usual rubbish piece of

"I supported AE, but now I have to apologise to IG as I see the REAL her..."

by whichever reporter supported her

StressedLP1 · 05/03/2026 09:49

Blimey - that is quite the turn around.
