In court this week, think this is the last part of their legal stuff? Anyway, what has really struck me with this is how the Daily Mail have been complicit in her narrative and the abuse he gets. It’s came out in the court she has made 30k from them, selling her stories. I’m aware it’s an absolute rag, but paying someone with an DVRO and running their stories, in an attempt to paint their victim in a negative light is surely low, even by their standards?

Not true. It’s not difficult to be respectful to other posters and this is the benchmark of the rules of Mumsnet and if you don’t follow those rules then posts get deleted. Just because someone has a differing opinion does not mean they aren’t posting in good faith.

I would tend to err on the side of not engaging with anyone you feel is behaving in such a way - it is just a waste of time.

I don’t and I certainly wasn’t going to reply using the same language as they did. It’s not my style.

But you haven't given a differing opinion on the case under discussion in this thread. You have just made some tedious jibes at other posters.

What is your opinion on the court case and Alice's relationship with the Daily Mail?

My opinion of the court case is that it’s a civil
case and not a criminal one. There will have to be some form of settlement made between the two of them and most likely Alice will walk away with something (child support) but maybe not everything she wants. They should also have settled it in mediation. The judge will look at the evidence and decide from there. Either way Ioan does bear financial responsibilities to his daughters which I’m sure the judge will cover in his ruling. I’m not sure what the Californian law is on spousal support so have no idea what his his ruling would be on that.

What do you think of the issue raised in the OP? The issue of the Daily Mail paying for one sided stories?

ThiagoJones · 03/03/2026 12:50

You’re right of course that the financial aspect is a civil issue and that Ioan will continue to pay child support, as he always has. The DVRO breaches could well be a criminal issue, however.

ETA although I guess, not having read any of the court documents, you’ll be unaware of the numerous DVRO breaches so probably won’t have an opinion on those.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 03/03/2026 13:08

I’m sure someone mentioned this further up the thread but I can’t find it - is Ioan likely to pay monthly until certain ages, or might it simply be a one off payment now and nothing more?

Unclear what you mean by "healthy discussion" - hopefully you mean "respectfully conducted" and "informed"? It was not terribly "healthy" of you to neg people for reading court documents. After all, this is a discussion about a court case. To be able to have an informed discussion about a court case it is rather helpful to read the actual underlying court filings. Otherwise the discussion is based solely on what people imagine the documents and evidence might be (or what journalists have selectively reported the documents and evidence might be). Unclear why you would want to have a discussion about a court case without having the first clue what the case is actually about, and to find out what the case is about you have to read the case documents.

Erm.....because she can do and it is her right to do so.
Stop being Mumsnet police. 😀

I don’t have an opinion on that at all. I think the court case is the pertinent thing here. The judge won’t be swayed by what the Daily Mail has or hasn’t done.

No, but that’s what this thread was about so I assumed you had an opinion on it, as you were drawn to commenting on the thread.

I would have thought given the length of time they have split up that criminal charges would have been brought by now. The best thing for them both is to agree a settlement or have one ruled on their behalf and that’s it

Yes, and hope that she doesn’t continue to breach the DVRO (if it’s renewed) because obviously criminal charge can be brought in future if the breaches continue.

ThiagoJones · 03/03/2026 13:24

They can’t actually agree a settlement now, that ship has sailed. It will be down to the judge to rule on the finances.

Well of course they could if she did harass them given the order in place at the moment. But if she stopped or has stopped it wouldn’t be an issue

I actually think it’s a good thing the judge is ruling on this as there really isn’t anywhere left to go with it.

Yes, some of the breaches are very recent which suggests they may continue, but let’s all cross our fingers that she’s a changed woman!

Benjithedog · 03/03/2026 13:32

Nicknacky · 03/03/2026 13:21

So what’s your thoughts on her behaviour?

Why would my thoughts on her behaviour matter? If I go into what my opinion is on both of their behaviours I imagine I’ll get the disrespectful comments again so why bother. The point is the situation between them is finally coming to a head let the law take its course.

It’s a discussion forum so forgive me for trying to have a discussion with you. Strange you would comment in a thread but state you don’t want to discuss the main subject

Surely the main subject is the court case and its outcome which I have discussed at length.

Justdancevance · 03/03/2026 13:52

The Ring doorbell video from last summer shows how little Alice has changed.

Your comment is just another example of disrespectful discussion towards me for giving you an answer you don’t like. I think it’s been pretty clear I have no issue in having a polite conversation with other people on this thread so I’m afraid your comment doesn’t really land.

I honestly don't know why some people are on here. Particularly when they comment and then refuse point blank to elaborate on their comment.
That's fine and their choice but isn't it a waste of their own time? 😀
