A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Sorry for the B2B posting, but look at this corker.

Asked whether he was concerned that his legacy would be his bad judgment in appointing Mandelson and Doyle, Starmer said: “My legacy is changing my party and winning a general election.”

He did not mention anything his government had done to improve the country since taking power, and for Starmer the prospect of a half-term break from Westminster could not come quickly enough.

No surprises there; the achievements for which he will go down (buried) in history will be tax rises, crashing the economy and feeding schoolchildren soggy toast.

You are right.

What did we do to deserve this clown?

I heard that exchange too. Mandelson will be his legacy, whether he likes it or not.
I suppose Starmer needs to keep reminding his MPs that he won an election. A donkey in a red rosette could have achieved the same result, but hey ho.

No doubt he will spend the ten day recess planning his next reset. The new year reset went so well didn't it. 🙄 How many resets now, 5? 6?

Let's hope he doesn't start banging on about 'boots on the ground' again for a poll boost while he's in Munich.

Here’s another easy catch for you to fluff, Starmer.

Keir Starmer appears rattled amid Commons criticism of Doyle peerage.
FT.

Interesting. Good that his demeanour is being picked up on.

Agree Mandelson will follow him, especially since we’re only in the foothills of this with document release to come.

strawberrybubblegum · 11/02/2026 16:40

The real test is winning a 2nd election (or even 3rd - Thatcher) when the public are voting for what you have done well, not what the other guys did badly.

zurigo · 11/02/2026 16:42

DiySteve · 11/02/2026 11:13

But I thought Starmer was ‘working class’ again? I mean, he says he is - he removed his tie and rolled up his sleeves.

I mean, his father was a tool-maker, don’t you know.

He certainly made a tool when he made Keir.

But aren’t tools supposed to have some utility?

The only people Labour seem to serve are those that rely on the state. If you are self-sufficient, they'll tax you to the hilt.

Yeah, it's a great irony isn't it? They wang on about being 'for working people', but actually the ones they benefit are the workless. If you sit at home relying on benefits and churning out babies you're laughing. Benefits - up, taxes - up, joblessness - up, illegal immigration - up, cost of living - up, jobs and businesses - down. Way to go Labour! For working people eh? Pffft

They are. He made a dud.

Speaking of tools, I can perfectly understand ‘working/non-working’ people downing tools.

Tang ping.

The House of Lords has lost no time in refuting Starmer's claims about Doyle. (Delicious!)

That Ed Davey bit, just watched it. Wth?! Starmer looks like he’s going to punch someone - for repeating his own words back to him. Bloody hell. Liability.

I'm honestly surprised no-one has commented on his latent anger; once you see it, you can't unsee it. He's a cauldron of suppressed boiling rage.

Ikr when Davey says I touched a nerve. Look how calm Ed is and he just continues with a normal tone.

Starmer looks off the scale angry. Jesus man. Stop yelling at everyone and go.

EmeraldRoulette · 11/02/2026 17:16

I've got a cold <whines> I really hope it shifts cause I've got a big week next week! (Historically my colds have a habit of turning nasty, I do my best to avoid catching one in the first place, but it's not always possible)

Didn't get much done today, although I was in denial until lunchtime.

So after reading about it here, I had a look at a full recording of PMQs on YouTube

I actually don't think Kemi did that well today? But, again I'm not sure what the etiquette is, I did wonder if she would produce something a bit more leftfield rather than focus on the obvious.

is Starmer trying to put on an act? So his shouting and overreaction might be a miscalculation and not a natural response?

And what am I missing - didn't Ed Davey walk into that comment about Hillsborough?

Quentin Lette says “Starmer QC turned into Sid Vicious”.

Says it was like a scene from Eastenders.

The locked jaw too. Not sure why he thinks he can get away with it.

I remember his him making a fist when talking to twaddle Jane.

Male arrogance and latent anger.

His party seems more than happy with it. Although, perhaps they're all just playing the game while Ange gets her ducks in a row?

DiySteve · 11/02/2026 17:30

Starmer honestly looks like he’s a bloke at breaking point.

Shame about the recess.

Hannah Spencer of the Greens, hoist by her own petard, from a MUMSNET post, no less!

In the Telegraph....

In a post on Mumsnet in 2021, Hannah Spencer described the high street in Levenshulme, one of the main towns in the constituency, as being full of “money-laundering takeaways”.

And the whole post went like this...

I second @################## with their thoughts on Levenshulme. I've bought and sold there (don't live there anymore) and I would be really really careful about how much you spend as it certainly is a LOT of hype. The estate agents (Edward Mellor etc) have done a huge trade in the hyping! It has been 'up and coming' for at least five years but barely anything has changed. In fact a lot of the good stuff has sadly actually gone.

It is a huge shame because there is a community spirit and it did have a lot of potential, it is just hugely blighted by a mile long row of (supposedly) money laundering takeaways which mean independent businesses can't get a look in. It is centred around one of the busiest roads in Manchester which makes walking around not great. I thought I would regret leaving it but I'm so glad I moved, you can get so much more for your money elsewhere.

Yep. He lost it.
Davey's question was fully justified, and thats how our PM reacts when challenged.
