A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

40 odd people let go at my firm this week - and not a sniff of a shred of responsibility from labour. Instead we’ll get crowing when they cut the interest rate in March because err, they’ve beaten inflation through job losses.

EasternStandard · 17/02/2026 08:58

I wonder if any of the staunch pro Labour who post how well they’re doing are realising what the job situation is that they voted for.

Any pennies dropping yet. Any of them have young adult dc even looking for work.

The pennies will only drop when Labour's lunatic policies directly affect them and/or theirs.

The reinstated local elections will probably be an accurate indicator of disillusioned former Labour voters.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you're safe, for now at least.
You're right, Labour won't take responsibility for anything. Unemployment was 4.1 when they took office, now 5.2. Its never their fault.

Pat McFadden this morning said there was "more to do" to get people into work. WTF.
How about not putting people out of work with damaging policies? That would be a good start.

I've concluded that they're just lying at this point to save face on MN. You'd have to be unbelievably stupid to not see what's happening with jobs atm.

This is your annual reminder that today is pancake day. 🥞 🍋

I usually discover that I have no eggs at approx 4pm, so thought I'd shout out. 😂

Yep although Labour too will try to spin a line. There’s really nothing left to say other than they got it completely wrong, and are clueless on why.

We have visitors today with dc so yep on the pancakes, ready to roll 😀

I have all the ingredients, together with bananas and industrial quantities of maple syrup in order to keep Himself happy. (Just lemon and sugar for me.😋)

They would rather stay awake at night, fretting, than admit they were wrong.

So very sorry to hear this.

May I ask what sector?

Whereistheejectbutton · 17/02/2026 10:39

Logistics - usually a buoyant growth sector…not lately!

Well, irrespective of whether B2C or B2B, it’s difficult to see how Labour’s ‘growth’ policies have helped anyone.

The damage they will have done if they see out a full parliament, will leave deep scars.

Whereistheejectbutton · 17/02/2026 10:44

We’re both - I’m ok so far but they’re going through dept by dept, I’m sure many firms doing the same.

’more to do’ - based on the results so far, pleased don’t do more of that labour!

Sorry to hear this. Labour have started this job loss situation and it so easily spreads, so concerning.

EasternStandard · 17/02/2026 11:16

And scary for anyone with young adult dc.

Youth unemployment has jumped to an 11-year high after Labour increased the cost of hiring staff.

The Tories accused the Government of “creating a jobless generation” as official data showed 16.1pc of 16 to 24-year-olds seeking work have not yet found a job.

The figure is firmly above the Covid lockdown peak of 15.3pc seen in the summer of 2020, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Beijing stopped reporting their youth unemployment data when it hit 20%.

Wonder when Starmer will pull the pin….

The fact that it's worse than during the pandemic is pretty fucking damning, isn't it?

I could've sworn they were going to be the party of business! 🤷‍♀️

Leader of Norfolk County Council calls Steve Reed two-faced, a bully and a bastard at their Council meeting earlier today - this in regard to elections, devolution and reorganisation. Available on YouTube - watch from 35 minutes in. Takes around 5 minutes.

TheNuthatch · 18/02/2026 09:45

Thanks for this. Blimey, if they all resign!

Another bleeding obvious U-turn ahead:

Do you think that any of these cabinet ministers have been introduced to the real world, because these knock-on consequences are so apparent to every body else that it defies belief that this incompetence isn't intention.

Oof! She doesn't hold back does she. So they were threatened, nice. She should be in parliament, and Reed should be out of a job.
