What have you eaten, or what will you eat today?

Aargh!

I was intending to eat better this year, and bought the stuff to do so, but I'm struggling to actually bother.

Dinner is usually fine, but I'm struggling with breakfast and lunch.

I'm not on a diet or anything; I would just like to eat more variety as I seem to always end up having bread lately, and it gets boring. Plus I'm constantly feeling bloated and lethargic.

It's homemade sourdough, so it could be worse, but I'm also shattered all the time, and had hoped that eating more variety would help with any physical symptoms.

I thought writing it all down here might encourage me to make more effort.

If anyone else wants to join me, that would be great 😊

I didn't start well this morning, hence this thread:

So far all I've had today is a cup of tea with oat milk and 1 thin slice of sourdough bread with butter and peanut butter

Branflakes

2 vegan sausages, baked beans, large grilled mushroom and a tomato, chopped up avocado, slice of seeded toast at a cafe

3 Bean and courgette chilli with some steamed veg and a slice of chicken breast

Small bowl of porridge with some nuts and seeds

I’m on a healthy eating push, less cheese and red meat.

zingally · 27/02/2026 17:17

I've been ill for the past 10 days, and have noticed a decline in my appetite.

Breakfast: 2 weetabix, with a tablespoon of mixed grains/seeds on top.
Lunch: A bag of crisps and a small bag of maryland cookies.
Home early from work, and had a cheese string and 3 bourbons.

Dinners have been my main struggle the last 10 days. Just either not been hungry, or just not fancying anything. Have ended up with things like a couple of boiled eggs, or a couple of crumpets. Not like me at all!

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/02/2026 17:26

Fruit and fibre for breakfast with whole milk and a cuppa with 2 sugars (cannot break that habit!!)
lunch was a pitta pocket thing with rocket, feta and a bit of mayo. Apple. Pint or two of orange squash.
block of cheese and few jellybeans while running
dinner will be pulled fable mushroom curry
us a couple of ciders!

exercise wise I’ve run 11 miles hence the cider 😂. We aren’t actually vegetarian, just the way the day has fallen!

A piece of sour dough with 2 poached eggs and bacon. A couple of crisps (stolen from children).

it's not been a healthy day! I won't eat again though.

During the life of this thread, I have started following the Glucose Goddess's advice to reduce glucose spikes by introducing it later in meals. I have therefore moved my breakfast porridge, cereal or pastries etc (and my breakfast rum and coke) to after things like tofu sushi, egg on toast, peanut butter and Marmite sandwich. In other meals, I generally had the right order anyway, though ‘eat round the plate starting with veg’ is also a thing.

Tisfortired · 28/02/2026 10:11

Today

Breakfast - cornflakes with a sprinkle of sugar
Lunch - 2 slices of seeded bread and 2 boiled eggs
Tea - ramen with noodles, dumplings and plenty of veg

Saturday night is our family ‘stay up late’ night and we always get a few treats in - there is a bag of sweet and salty popcorn and a creme egg calling my name!

BrickBiscuit · 02/03/2026 10:29

Breakfast - leftover leek and cheese bake, lemon meringue pie, rum and coke.
Lunch - pastries and hot chocolate.
Tea - stir-fry, boiled potatoes, ready-made panna cotta.

HUNGRY4MORE · 05/03/2026 13:32

I've had a lovely lunch today. Photo attached. 2 rice cakes with soft cheese (one philly type cheese, the other is a soft cheese roulade with chives running through it and rolled it them) and topped with cucumber, red onion and cress.

Forgot how much I like this type of lunch... Now the warmer weather is coming, my mood should improve, too.

Breakfast was 2 sl. sourdough with a slice of cheese and ham.

Dinner tonight is marinated pork ribs with corn on the cob and homemade wedges/chips.

What have you eaten, or what will you eat today?

Lunch today is a sandwich with leftover cashew and carrot roast and some apple chutney on it.
Dinner is Chinese takeaway and I am excited.

GameOfJones · 14/04/2026 12:57

Breakfast - Cappuccino and a ginger shot. I hate eating in the mornings so usually stick to liquids for breakfast!

Lunch - grated carrot and raisin salad, mozzarella, roast parsnip, mixed seeds with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and croutons.

Dinner - spinach, mushrooms and scrambled egg on sourdough.

BrickBiscuit · 14/04/2026 14:46

Breakfast - half a reduced-price quiche and salad, glass of port.
Lunch - the other half. Tea and coffee.
Dinner - we'll see. Probably the family's leftovers (ie what's left after they serve up - I'm not cooking). And some half-price Lindt easter egg, just bought. I tried a spare main-brand easter egg over easter and had to bin it. Chocolate-flavoured fat. Disgusting. To think we were brought up on unadulterated actual proper chocolate, before the corporate race to the bottom set in, without realising it.

Greenwriter76 · 14/04/2026 14:50

Lazy day food wise today as most days I try to cook from scratch:
B: Honey nut cornflakes
L: Beanburgers and chips from freezer with sweet chilli sauce and a rocket / cherry tomato side salad, followed by some Easter egg!

WorstPaceScenario · 14/04/2026 14:50

I'm a 'little and often' person so eat four or five very small meals, but today I've done a lot of grazing on random crap, which is unusual.

I've had:
Half a protein bar left in my car from yesterday
A salt and pepper cracker
A caramel rice cake
7 or 8 raspberries
A Freddo
A little pouch of fruit and nut mix
Parsnip soup with a plain rice cake

I do have some tuina mayo and pepper to have as my 3pm snack, but I think I might just leave it. I'm off out with my husband for dinner (Indian) straight from work , where I'll either have a starter, or order a main and take 2/3 of it home for DH's lunch tomorrow

HUNGRY4MORE · 15/04/2026 01:17

@BrickBiscuityou write like having only one alcoholic drink a day is restraint? I’m afraid having alcohol every day and for breakfast is not normal

Not unusual amongst men who work night shifts. Often they will pop into the pub after shift and then head home to bed.
