Aargh!

I was intending to eat better this year, and bought the stuff to do so, but I'm struggling to actually bother.

Dinner is usually fine, but I'm struggling with breakfast and lunch.

I'm not on a diet or anything; I would just like to eat more variety as I seem to always end up having bread lately, and it gets boring. Plus I'm constantly feeling bloated and lethargic.

It's homemade sourdough, so it could be worse, but I'm also shattered all the time, and had hoped that eating more variety would help with any physical symptoms.

I thought writing it all down here might encourage me to make more effort.

If anyone else wants to join me, that would be great 😊

I didn't start well this morning, hence this thread:

So far all I've had today is a cup of tea with oat milk and 1 thin slice of sourdough bread with butter and peanut butter

Miserable food day today mostly due to being incredibly time poor. i usually make sure I have breakfast as it’s my favourite meal of the day but today didn’t have it 😫

didnt have lunch until about 13:30 and was starving! I didn’t have much time to eat so scoffed some leftover couscous I had made yesterday with butternut squash, feta, cucumber, beetroot, tomatoes and radish.

sadly dinner was more of the same couscous again, due to time and need to get something in me quickly.

hopefully tomorrow will be more exciting and I plan on definitely having breakfast!!

Aw well, suppose its not a big deal then to have 1 with breakfast then if theres no work commitments everyday. Some people have a mimosa or bucks fizz with breakfast and thats ok. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I dont use a recipe anymore so a bit hit and miss: I blitz a can of chickpeas with a tablespoon of tahini, and 1 or 2 cloves of grated garlic, glue of olive oil, and salt. I also add grated lemon zest and some lemon juice. I add a splash of water if too stiff, and taste to see if needs more salt etc

Glug not glue!

Crushed23 · 05/02/2026 21:28

I thought I’d write down what I ate yesterday as I found the portion size discussion on the other thread absolutely fascinating!

Wednesday:
-Breakfast: Protein porridge (oats, almond milk, 2 scoops of plant protein, cacao powder, ground almonds); oat latte

-Lunch: 1/2 ham and mozzarella ciabatta, 1/2 vegetable wrap, plate of fruit

-Snack: cupcake, handful of cashew nuts, oat flat white

No dinner due to cupcake and carb-y lunch.

Thursday:
Breakfast: Porridge with chia seeds and blueberries, oat latte

Lunch: chicken, sweet potato, mushrooms, goats cheese, rocket with dressing. Small bag of chocolate covered almonds.

Dinner: [not yet eaten as it’s 4:30pm here] maybe an omelette with spinach.

MoiraRoseVibes · 05/02/2026 21:32

Muesli with oat milk, chopped banana and pear and grated apple.
Coffee with oat milk, maca powder, coconut oil and chaga mushroom powder.
Chicken pot pie with potatoes and broccoli.
Little slice cake.
Lots of water.
Couple of cups ginger and lemon tea.
Cheese, crackers and cornichons, and a non-alcoholic Peroni, and a bag of ready-salted McCoys.
100g bag of Dairy Milk Giant Buttons with a cup of redbush tea and oat milk.
Happy with that lot!

BubblinTrouble · 05/02/2026 22:12

L: roast veg (aubergine, courgette, red onion, broccoli, tomato, olive oil), halloumi, black coffee
D: dhal and salad (rocket, cucumber, carrot, spring onion, pickled beetroot, blue cheese), tea.

Those who use oat milk... I've just started using it as I was finding milk made me feel sick, but it doesn't last as long as uht milk does so I'm finding it quite wasteful.

I'm currently looking at overherd oat milk powder and MYOM as less wasteful options. I only drink tea so it doesn't need to be overly creamy, I just don't want it too sweet.

Has anyone tried either of these? if so, opinions welcome 🙏🏼 on any other longer shelf life options, too.

Thanks.

What do you mean about it not lasting as long @HUNGRY4MORE
I use oat milk and it seems to last ages. Do you mean once opened or unopened?

maddiemookins16mum · 06/02/2026 16:22

Today I’ve had some Fruit and Fibre with milk and some Baby Bel cheese x 2 wrapped in a slice of ham each. I’m about to start dinner - (part of my diet is to eat nothing after 6pm and before 10am the next day). Tonight it’s grilled salmon, 3 x veg and some homemade lemon/garlic and parsley potato wedges.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 06/02/2026 19:10

Porridge
Hummus soup
Corned beef, chips and beans. Home made chocolate mousse. Packet of Terry's Chocolate Orange pieces, ready salted crisps (Asda Exceptional, they're very very nice)

I have crisps and chocolate on Fridays. I could live on crisps, this is my compromise.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 06/02/2026 20:00

Breakfast - toast with butter and marmite
snack - 4 biscuits
Lunch - cheese and pickle roll, crisps and a yogurt
snack- crème egg
Dinner- salmon fish cake, rice and rocket leaves.
pudding - a yogurt

Crushed23 · 06/02/2026 20:19

Okay TODAY

Breakfast: porridge with chia seeds and blueberries, made with almond milk; oat latte

Lunch: Tofu stir fry (tofu, spinach, green beans); leftover quinoa; apple

For dinner I’m thinking boiled eggs and smashed avocado.

Another ‘reset’ day after ciabatta-and-cupcake gate on Wednesday!
