How many cars have you had?

I was just thinking about my cars (past and present) and thought I’d ask.

First car was a purple Fiesta (diesel) which was a hand me down first from my dad who gave it to my brother, who gave it to me. I traded it in (just as it hit 120k on the clock) and got £500 px for my nearly new Peugeot.

I had 2 more Peugeot 208s after that (loved them both) before trading in for an old style rounded Juke and then later (after 21 years of driving), finally being able to afford a new one (another Juke).

Starting to think I’ll need a new car again so I’m leaning back toward a Peugeot.

If you’re a driver, how many cars have you had?

14 I think.

That have been mine.
That's not counting when dh and I have had 2 cars between us, which we swapped about, depending on who was driving where, carrying what, and transporting who). Probably adding another 5 if you count those.

But I passed my test over 40 years ago, so have had plenty of time.

Non .. but I've had 26 motorbikes ( nothing now).

I'm 47 and only had 4 cars but didn't learn to drive til 26, only had the corsa for a year but didn't use it so didn't bother with another car until I was 31/32 when i had a baby.

Too many! The numbers of cars DH and I have got through...... Although my current, and favourite, Mini, I have had for 10 years.

DH has had loads.... TR6, TR7, Ford Fiesta, Fiat 16v, a Renault, a Saab, a VW, a Mercedes, a couple of BMW's, and a handful of Jags.

As I said...... Too many. Money puts most of them! But very enjoyable.

7 in 38 years. DH has had 5 in 28 years.

Think I'm on about 23 ish
Currently have a truck, a a jag, a buggy, a clio a skoda and a mazda!
They're the working ones, so have approx a dozen in various states of disrepair!

This is over a 45 year period so I can't really remember every single car.

10 vehicles…, I think (of which I currently still own 3, including a camper).

Had the use of a (huge/safe/slow) Volvo when learning to drive, but never owned a car then, so not counted in the above.

First 6 were all company cars, in the late 90’s / early 2000’s, in London (so not really needed, but a nice perk). Two of those were Fiestas on short 6 month leases, and another one a short-term loan car (a horrible Nissan saloon) which I had while the only car I have ever specified from new — an Audi A3 — was being built. Apart from the Audi, my favourite in that time was a Peugeot 306XSi.

Then had almost 10 years of not owning a car at all while working overseas, in another city where car ownership would have been an extravagance.

In the last 15 years, I have owned four, of which three still remain in my ownership, all of which have been bought used, and bought outright (not a fan of leases/PCP).

I’ve never had a new car. Would have loved a Saab 900 when I was younger.

Kids have come and gone, learned to drive their own little old cars. Currently in a Smartforfour and love it but am about to go self employed and will need a small van soon!!!

I liked them all except the Xantia which had nothing wrong with it, but was just uninspiring somehow. Despite their dire reputation my Metro was actually a very good little car. I should probably change my car soon. Now my kids are all at University and I am no longer lugging a car full of teenage boys and their sports kits round all the time I should really downsize. I'll probably get an EV next, possibly a Skoda Enyaq.

Just bought my 7th car, and been driving for 19 years.
First two cars were both Peugeot 206. Then I had two Toyota Aygo. When I had my child and a fairly big dog I got a Peugeot 2008. Then I inherited a Vauxhall Agila, so used that for a year. My current car is a Honda HRV.

Only 4 - I'm 47 and didn't learn to drive until I was in my 30s though!
My first car was a Ford KA - then I had two Mazda MX5s which I absolutely loved although they just don't work on the two days a year we have snow!
I've had a Mini for the last 6 years. I absolutely love it and am planning to keep it until it won't work any more. I'd love another MX5 when the Mini finally dies!

first car was a bright orange Clio, I loved it, but it almost killed me when something snapped on the chassis and it flew off a roundabout into a tree.
never lost the love though and upgraded to a newer Clio after that one.
got a polo after that and then my current car an Astra which could definitely do with being traded on and upgraded but it's been such a good reliable car that I'm reluctant to get rid and might just keep it running till it dies.

DM had a Saab 900 Turbo (not new) when I was a teen. It was definitely her favourite car!

So 19 altogether in 30 years of driving! Sounds a lot, but several were knackered old bangers that didn’t last long!

My sister’s friend’s dad drove one too. I fell in love with them then. One of the first things my now husband bought me was a Saab Keyring which I had on the keys of my little Clio for years 🤣.
By the time I could have afforded one they weren’t being made anymore. Still see a few around and love spotting them in old movies and tv shows. I’m not even a huge car fan but for some reason I just loved/ love them.
