Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Tenby in Wales. To be fair lots of the surrounding area ( including the small town we stayed in) was nice, and my opinion may be swayed by the fact that every time we tried to do something actually in Tenby it rained.

Similar to @Funnywonder , I was stuck in Dunkirk waiting for a ferry one Sunday (several decades ago). All the shops were closed, but there was still piped music in the main street where they were - it was really eerie. It was too early for the bars to open, every building seemed to be grey concrete. It's probably really nice when there are people about/ places open.

We took a road trip to Andorra and planned on staying there for a few days. We stumbled on the weirdest town in the mountains that looked like a setting for a horror film and left Andorra for Spain!

Iceland…very underwhelming unfortunately

I found Reykjavik a bit underwhelming, but I thought the landscapes of Iceland were spectacular!

Stockholm has the Vasa museum, that alone stops it being boring (I know I said maritime museums were boring earlier but the Vasa is breathtaking).

I remember going there thinking it's just a boat -big deal. It was absolutely wonderful.

MessyNDepressy · 25/01/2026 20:10

The Isle of Lewis. May partly be because I went with a very dull person but I didn’t even like the landscape. Loved Harris though!

Pretty much everywhere. We have friends in Brussels so we have been several times. If our friends weren’t such good company, we’d never bother going again.

You don't find the Grand Place pretty? You don't find the Museum of Fine Art interesting? None of the museums? Nothing? Really?
So strange.

Well, small towns like that are known for being pretty rather than exciting. You're there to enjoy the scenery.

Tunisia. 2 weeks all inclusive, nothing outside the hotel unless you like sight seeing in filthy cesspits. Some city in Vietnam which we accidentally visited at the exact time of a 2 day public holiday. Everything was closed and hardly anyone about. We found one cafe, had coke and cheese toasties, caught up on sleep at the hotel then left earlier than planned the next morning.
I like seeing people’s counter arguments on here, showing how we all like different things

I must be weird too as I loved both Stockholm and Berlin. Not boring at all.

Oh and I also loved Brussels,

Yep. Add Brussels to the other two. I loved it!

Judellie · 25/01/2026 20:18

We went to Mini Europe in Brussels, it was fab. Much better than the nearby Atomium - still at a bit of a loss as to what that was supposed to be about. I liked Brussels.
I didn't like Bruges, it was way too full of people, dogs, horses and, weirdly, cardboard, and more people were continuously pouring in. Got back on the train and went to Ostend, which was fab.

Pretty can be boring. Museum can be interesting but dead boring…

why is that so shocking to people?

I'm quite surprised to see so many people saying Munich. I've never been there, but several people I know who have been to every major city in Europe said it's their favourite. I'm really curious to go now to see if I like it.

mondaytosunday · 25/01/2026 20:23

@LizzyTangowow the Alhambra??? I’ve been about four or five times and am always blown away. But then I’m into tiles and the history and the Moors - we all love different things I guess.
I do think the Natural History Museum is
overrated @Chiefangel- been several times and find the temporary exhibits quite amateurish. But the architecture is stunning.
Disney World in Orlando is sinew here I’ll be happy to never return to (I only went because I was invited as a guest). Dated and commercial but the fireworks were fun.

OMG me too! Haha. Did you go on a school trip??

Haha! No I went with my two train mad stepsons. It was a bitterly cold day too so pretty miserable for me. They loved it though.

Cornwall - just so dull unless the weather is warm which it rarely is.
Amsterdam - I recently returned with my preteen DD god it was so boring very little to do once we had done the canals, museums and shopping. Never again…

No way is Amsterdam boring. Love it there. Been 3 times and the last time (last year) me and DH spent a week there. Not bored for 1 second
