Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Rotterdam
St. Lucia, beautiful but unless you're into water sports totally boring.

Edited

You didn't go hiking in the rainforest with a guide explaining the wildlife? Cool off in a waterfall or visit the sulphur springs? No catamaran sunset cruise? Went to the weekly jump-up? Tour of the chocolate plantation?

Glastonbury in the pissing rain.

One street, an exorbitantly priced cafe, a Boots and soggy, scowling locals. Highlight of the week was the bus in the rain to the nearest discount shopping area - mainly because it also meant we were on the way home.

You obviously didn't go to the Tor, the Abbey, the Chalice Well.....which are sort of the point of Glastonbury. Many places are dull if you don't venture beyond the High Street.

ChattyCatty25 · 25/01/2026 17:31

Southampton. Absolutely nothing to see or do, and a strange hostile undercurrent.

lazymum99 · 25/01/2026 17:31

Luxembourg

An ex once took me to a Porsche Owners Club event. Christ on a bike, dozens of mind numbingly dull men discussing braking systems and turbos. 😂

I feel your pain, I made the mistake of going with DH once..luckily there was a pub nearby so me and the kiddos went there and DH joined us when he could drag himself away...

Northern Spain with young children. Very rural but not much to do for little ones.

So pleased you didn't like Northern Spain. It's perfect for older people though.

Pineapples123 · 25/01/2026 17:33

salou in Spain- like a spanish Great Yarmouth. Wasn’t a fan of turkey either

Funny how one person's perception of boring is another person's 'lovely'

We've been to Berlin & Frankfurt, had some fantastic meals in restaurants with servers wearing authentic German costume. The shops were brilliant too.

KaDeWe in Berlin is similar to Harrods, you could spend hours there.
Frankfurt centre with its cobbled stones was amazing, we had a gorgeous meal and felt so welcomed.

We've had cocktails in Germany in an an evening (as an older couple) and always felt safe.

On a separate note of my personal boring/underwhelmed places it has got to be Dubrovnik. I'm sure many have had wonderful experiences there, I travelled 2 hours by bus to get there. I even went in a quieter time like September to be greeted by hoards of people in the square, an amount of people I've never encountered before. We are talking about 20 different tour guides hosting up to 50 people each. We couldn't move around the square because of the sheer volume of people. The cafe's & restaurants were full so we got on the next bus to get home.

I have heard the problem is the day ships bringing in day visitors and they are doing something to rectify this. Let's hope...

We went on an expensive AI family holiday to Mauritius. Never been so bored in my life. That's when we realised we preferred road trip type holidays.

Gloucester. Just grim. Luckily I live near enough to get home in just over an hour
Oban. It's OK for a quick stop while we wait for the ferry to Mull, but we once got holed up there for 2 days while our car was fixed after a breakdown. We had "done " it in an afternoon.

Agree. Once went there on a day trip with friends.

The canal museum was fine. But struggling for something to do we ended up in the Folk Museum which is one of the weirdest places ever.

Brussels.

Brussels is not boring. Where exactly did you go in Brussels?

Gloucester's got a historic cathedral and lots of interesting pubs.

I went to Geneva for a couple of days for work. I had the most expensive pizza I've ever eaten and we were all back at the hotel bar at 9pm because it was so quiet elsewhere. This was 20 years ago - I'm sure it's a bit more exciting these days.
The lake was nice though.

Copenhagen was disappointing

“And they'll get back from Copenhagen and they will say: that statue's quite disappointing.”

Favouritefruits · 25/01/2026 17:37

Cape Verde! Nothing to do or see, we went 13 years ago when there was only 1 flight a week to Manchester, we wanted to come home early but obviously we couldn’t!

isthisevenreallife · 25/01/2026 17:40

Florida (apart from the theme parks)

Papyrophile · 25/01/2026 17:42

I've never travelled anywhere as dull as some places MNetters have been, Novelty gives most places a gloss of interest. Disneyworld in S California was not a favourite though.

Luxembourg City on a Sunday was similarly quiet.

Good to know about Stockholm. I loved Copenhagen but I am wary of the Nordic countries as I like heat on my holidays.

I think Stockholm is a great city to visit. Fab mix of old and pretty, plus new and funky. And a lovely setting on the water. Not boring at all. But it obviously isn't usually warm!

I live in NI and remember being massively underwhelmed the first time I saw the Giant’s Causeway. It was just so … small🤣 But I have been back numerous times over the years, often accompanying various relatives visiting from overseas and I have grown to love it. Especially on dull, dreary days when there’s hardly anyone around. It has become one of my favourite places.

We visited my uncle - who lives in Co Antrim - many years ago now, and we travelled a lot of the Northern coast while we were there. It has so much spectacular scenery, but we were very disappointed with the Giant's Causeway, as it looked so much smaller in real life.

However, we also visited the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, which was great, even though I only got two steps on to it and had to turn around quickly before I froze on the spot with terror! I was so cross with myself (I was 33 years old at that time) that 2 days later we went to a pub first, and I had a whole one - a pint of Guinness - then we went back to the bridge and I managed to get over to the big rock, and back again without freezing or fainting!. I believe that the rope bridge has been replaced with something a bit more sturdy (and possibly safer) since my little adventure?

So, I loved the bridge, and I also loved seeing cows on a beach not too far from there, I have never seen them on a beach anywhere else! Anyway, I'm glad that you have grown to love the Causeway now Funnywonder, I have always liked the legend attatched to it 😊 ☘️

GinaandGin · 25/01/2026 17:48

I am from northern ireland and I find the giants causeway so so boring. Plus the national trust rip you off by charging folk to go in to the visitors centre

Victoria and Albert museum, convinced myself I myself had had it wrong and went back, was told it’s huge, didn’t find it huge and neither did I find it that interesting apart from the jewels.

It’s my favourite museum ever. I have a membership and they have some wonderful exhibitions
