Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Trowbridge.

So pleased you didn't like Northern Spain. It's perfect for older people though.

We once had a lovely holiday to Northern Spain with young kids. Eurocamp Playa Joyel near Noja. Amazing beach and a wildlife park with the most exciting (and borderline dangerous) bird of prey display I’ve ever seen. We saw the Altamira cave paintings on that holiday too and DC enjoyed the museum there. They were toddler and primary age.

Puddledaf · 25/01/2026 17:51

Conwy Castle

ThatMintMember · 25/01/2026 17:51

De Panne in Belgium, literally just over the border from France. Was one of those day trips where you go through the euro tunnel on the coach but it wasn't worth visiting. Just a very ordinary place with some cafes, market stalls and a few shops

Gggh · 25/01/2026 17:56

The Legoland in southern Germany. In winter. Even our five year old realised it was not the best day out.

piscofrisco · 25/01/2026 17:57

The Salt Mines in Krakow

StripedPillowcase · 25/01/2026 17:57

Blaenau Ffestiniog.
On a wet Sunday.
It was closed.

Supergirl1958 · 25/01/2026 17:58

I once went to a rug factory/museum in turkey somewhere 🤷‍♀️

FranticFrankie · 25/01/2026 17:58

Wisbech- deadly dull. Cut our visit short
Though I love Greek holidays, had a trip from Lefkada to Meganisi- didn't know it was early closing 😮
Everywhere closed and it's a small island.

But- love Edinburgh, Madeira, Co Mayo, Centre Parcs, Rome.
And Berlin and Liverpool are on my list to go to.

TempestToo · 25/01/2026 18:00

Calella in Spain. It rained the entire week, April so out of season. With two teenagers and nothing to do and nowhere near to go. the same tat shop replicated every 3 shops. I’ve never been so glad to go home. Except for the other holiday a long time ago in the middle of nowhere also in Spain. I was pregnant and had just been dumped, my sister was in the middle of a divorce, no electricity or water for 5 days. Again no where to go or anything to do. We played cards for 5 days straight.

snowmichael · 25/01/2026 18:03

Juan le Pins in the South of France

Just far enough away from Nice to be a pain to get to, and absolutely nothing to do in the town itself

TestTubeTina · 25/01/2026 18:04

Bangor and Beaumaris, Wales. Beau it was not. Both grey and depressing, somewhat enlivened by the occasional teenager in a Fiesta making their own entertainment and blasting out rap in an otherwise deserted car park.

Oxford is also dull. The colleges are pretty but the city centre is a concrete hellscape. We managed a day before changing our plans so we could get the hell out.

TheCheeryPoet · 25/01/2026 18:04

Luxembourg. One day was enough

Alhambra
Clacton
Filey
Any football stadium
Swathes of SE London

> Alhambra
It really does take all types :)
One of the most beautiful castles in Europe, with a fascinating history, in my opinion, and slap-bang in the middle of the lovely quirky old city of Granada

Completely agree with you about all the others though

TestTubeTina · 25/01/2026 18:06

CoolShoeshine · 25/01/2026 16:40

About 90% of towns in the UK and Ireland are dull..same old New Look, Five Guys crap.
Orlando outside of the parks is surprising dull and depressing.
Agree with Oslo being dull but to be fair it isnt a tourist hot-spot.

Drove through the outskirts of Orlando on the way to St Augustine. There were a surprising amount of prostitutes hanging around, on the hunt for day trade.

SunshinePlease24 · 25/01/2026 18:07

Another vote for Brussels. My favourite part was the train to Brugge and don't get me started on that teeny tiny statue. The chips n mayo were good though. 😉

Whelmed · 25/01/2026 18:07

Haverfordwest

I can entertain myself virtually anywhere but Ilkeston presented a challenge.

😂😂😂 I know the area well. It’s a fair comment.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 25/01/2026 14:00

Budapest. Unless you want to get off your tits every night, there’s very little to do.

> very little to do
:O
Apart from two castles, a children-run railway, a beautiful cathedral, great parks, a load of museums including a chocolate museum, a really informative hop-on, hop-off bus tour, hundreds of small family run restaurants, boat trips, a glorious parliament building, and lots of theatres and galleries
Nope, not a thing to do

kerstina · 25/01/2026 18:11

TigerRag · 25/01/2026 13:34

Newport, Wales

Which one as there are two. Newport Pembrokeshire is quiet but absolutely idyllic

mydogisthebest · 25/01/2026 18:11

CookingFatCat · 25/01/2026 14:44

Brussels. You can do it in a day, after that nothing to do and nothing to see.

Me and DH spent 3 days in Brussels and did not find it boring at all. We want to go back this year

ComedyGuns · 25/01/2026 18:11

The Melbourne Grand Prix - far worse than enduring it on TV.

MinnieMountain · 25/01/2026 18:12

Why the heck did you go on holiday to Haverfordwest @Whelmed ?

Hephebe · 25/01/2026 18:14

christmassytimeagain · 25/01/2026 17:50

It’s my favourite museum ever. I have a membership and they have some wonderful exhibitions

I LOVE the V&A and it's blinking massive! My fave bits are the jewellery, costumes/theatre exhibits, that massive double-height hall with all the statues, and the furniture galleries on the top floor.

CatCoup · 25/01/2026 18:14

Paphos. So depressingly run down with the ' main drag' full of shuttered up bars, broken glass and vandalism. No beach at all, apart from a concrete strip straddling the harbour side. Restaurants were grimy and over priced. Even the famous historical ruins hadn't been properly maintained and were strewn with litter. Maybe it was thriving in the 1990s, but ten years ago it was just so drab and soul destroying. It had the air of desperation and struggle, like the tourists had all moved on and it was clinging on to its hey days. Hired a car for the rest of the holiday thank God and escaped to a beautiful village up in the mountains with authentic tavernas and beautiful scenery.
