Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

I can remember going to Hunstanton as a teen with my parents and thought it was the most boring place ever with nothing to do. 50 years later I suspect if I went now I would like it a lot more!

Wisbech

We were considering moving there (it’s cheap). In the 2 hours we were there we had to stop a fight, stop a man beating up his partner.

These were SEPARATE incidents that meant we had to call the police twice (the fight needed an ambulance, the second ‘beating’ required DH and I to physically intervene)

On the way out of town a kid ran out in front of me requiring an emergency stop followed by the mum of the kid screaming at me that I was a cunt.

Maybe it’s better in the sunshine? 😂

FestiveDiscoBall · 25/01/2026 16:15

Biddulph Moor.

Moonlightdust · 25/01/2026 16:17

Visited many countries and cities in my life but Basel, Switzerland was utterly boring and depressing. Dire lack of shops/restaurants and basically just a tram city. Never seen so many tram tracks cross crossing all over.

Whitby

It's gorgeous and a lot to see but we went for the weekend (early fri-late sun)

Once we'd done the beach,the steps,high street,harbour,cliff top and museum,we where done

Maybe we missed bits but by Saturday afternoon,we'd had enough

Plus all the restaurants only seemed to do fish and chips (dp hates fish and we struggled to find something he would eat)

We won't be in a rush to go back which is a shame as it is stunning

We love it there and have been twice now. If you ever go again, a Thai restaurant is near the railway station, and we also found a small pub that did brilliant pizzas. There's a restaurant called The Edge we liked too.

Exactly! Not sure if some posters think they are being clever or they themselves are so dull they find just about everywhere boring

It's bonkers. Turkey, for example, is many things, but boring? I can understand that someone might have gone there once and had a boring holiday but only if they could not be arsed looking around. I cannot understand what those people would find interesting if they can declare an entire country boring. A country that contains the Hagia Sofia and Ephesus and Pamukkale.

I'm even slightly miffed on behalf of Gloucester - where I've never been - on account of it having a mediaeval cathedral renowned around the world for its stunning and innovative architecture. Very exciting if you like a bit of fan vaulting... And if you don't, you're missing out on a marvellous thing.

And as for the magnificent and mysterious standing stones of Carnac...

My maternal Grandfather was born there but fortunately the family left shortly after.

My brother has some interesting stories about that part of the world - it seems evolution missed it

Thinking about it while the beach is nice if Gorleston was grim then it would have improved a lot

Oh & Severn Beach anyone?

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 25/01/2026 16:18

My Nan’s.

Whatnameisif · 25/01/2026 16:20

Hmm. Well, I have been to many of the the places listed and had a great time, so even the places I've found boring I think, maybe I just didn't discover the interesting bits. Or I didn't visit at the right time in my life.

But at the time, I found Brussels boring. Also didn't particularly enjoy Cyprus, Melbourne, Bratislava or Milan.

Samanthajane5 · 25/01/2026 14:19

The main cities in Germany are definitely somwhere that I would not like to go back to. I would like to see some of the forest areas though

I went to Cologne years ago it seemed ok, not sure what it's like now

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 25/01/2026 16:21

Venice. Pigeons, Gondolas and crap ice cream .

aquashiv · 25/01/2026 16:22

Madeira.
February visit - "It is sunny and warm all year round ."
No it really isn't.
On the other hand Valencia is ace!

Lol, we went in February a few years ago and there was torrential rain for days! Still loved Madeira though.

LookingThroughGlass · 25/01/2026 16:23

Hartlepool was pretty dull - apologies to anyone who lives there. The marina was pleasant but there was nothing really to do except walk round it, and it seemed to have the worst 'town centre' of anywhere I've visited - most of it boarded up with just a small mall of generic shops. I went there on a coach tour and ended up at a retail park browsing in Boots and Currys to fill the time until we were collected.

Warwick Castle

Nooo! I love Warwick castle!

winnieanddaisy · 25/01/2026 16:23

It’s not what OP asked but can I just say the most fascinating city I have been to is Havana , Cuba . We had an excellent tour guide who even made the necropolis very interesting 😂.

CharlotteByrde · 25/01/2026 16:23

@aquashiv what exactly were you expecting from a loch?

Fodencat · 25/01/2026 16:23

PC World. Most boring shop on the planet.

Some monster action?

I have a very low boredom threshold for car museums, which unfortunately is not shared by DH. I know if he is suggesting a weekend break destination then there’ll be some kind of car museum involved. I think the worst one was the Shelby Museum in Vegas as there was no option of leaving DH to it and doing something else instead.

I can see why people find Stonehenge disappointing - I too remember the days when you could clamber around on the stones.

Oh gosh same with my DH! Cars and anything military

RheaRhanged · 25/01/2026 16:26

Cologne. Just found it really dull and miserable

awaynboilyurheid · 25/01/2026 16:29

Brands hatch watching noisy cars go round and round dear god no idea why F1 is considered worth viewing or sponsoring so boring, whose going to be fastest who gives a monkeys ?

Bobbyelvis4ever · 25/01/2026 16:29

So many fabulous trips, but places I’ll never return to include:

LA - filthy, smoggy, and altogether tedious. Saved by staying in Santa Monica

Brussels - hugely underwhelming

Liverpool - boring, sticky, and every single building / person / event having the most tenuous link to the Beatles.

Devon / Cornwall - both overpriced, full of bad restaurants, and people who hate tourists (I have some sympathy here, I live in a tourist destination, but dear God - just let it go occasionally). Sadly have to return to Devon often for family reasons.

@aquashiv what exactly were you expecting from a loch?

The sheer depth and size of Loch Ness in particular boggles me. To think that there is more water in that loch alone, than in all the lakes in England and Wales, is just mind-blowing to me.
