Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Some of these are mad

how is Valencia, Rome, Florence, Iceland and the whole of Norway boring?

same goes for the whole of cornwall

madness.

MinnieMountain · 25/01/2026 15:53

@billiongulls at least you only said Peterborough is boring. The lido is lovely too.

Copenhagener · 25/01/2026 15:54

Surprised by some of these!

Madeira has fantastic hikes, beautiful Portuguese architecture, dramatic beaches, tasty wines, and excellent views. It’s becoming very popular with younger people who love the outdoors.

Berlin is one of my fave city breaks. So much history! I’ve been twice and can’t wait to go back again. Doing the underground tours about world war 2 and the GDR tunnels, Museum Island, Stalin Allee, all the filming locations from films like The Hunger Games, marks from the Battle of Berlin. Plus a fun spicy scene if you’re into that, world-famous clubbing, great speciality coffee and kebabs, international cuisine, affordable, fantastic day trips nearby, good public transport. I don’t get the dislike!

For me, I find Denmark quite boring. I’m British but live here, and there’s not much to actually see and do. Most places look highly similar, it’s small and flat, and it’s more about ‘vibes’ than culture or nature. I meet a lot of people who come here for city breaks and leave disappointed.

Also: Thessaloniki. I thought I’d love it, but left early to go elsewhere. Concrete jungle with nothing much to actually see, museums were quite dull, super dirty, and I actually found the food scene there worse than anywhere else I’d been in Greece.

Bicester Village.

Bicester Village is a portal into the very jaws of Hell.

I think of it as a suburb of Dubai in a fake 'English village' film set.

SwedishEdith · 25/01/2026 15:55

I enjoyed Milan but I was there for a reason and only for a few nights so could see and do everything that was worth doing. However, I've never seen it rated as exciting but as a dull commercial city.

Whenever there are threads like this, so many answers are preposterous đŸ˜„. Like righting off whole countries or cities because you had a bad experience in them. And someone said the Alhambra đŸ˜„

But, in the spirit of the thread, Newhaven on the south coast for the ferry was dreadfully depressing. There's a theme with ferry ports that they're geared up to transience and leaving. No-one goes to them to stay there.

Lorrymum · 25/01/2026 15:55

I love this thread! It's keeping me highly entertained on a cold, wet Sunday afternoon.
It seems that most of the world is boring to at least one person.

sleepyduvetcat · 25/01/2026 15:55

Warwick Castle

ClareVoiance · 25/01/2026 15:57

@ShawnaMacallister , @shuffleofftobuffalo apparently.
A pp said Slough, which wouldn't be my first choice for a holiday but it's very convenient for Windsor and London.

Navybluecoat · 25/01/2026 15:57

Whitby

It's gorgeous and a lot to see but we went for the weekend (early fri-late sun)

Once we'd done the beach,the steps,high street,harbour,cliff top and museum,we where done

Maybe we missed bits but by Saturday afternoon,we'd had enough

Plus all the restaurants only seemed to do fish and chips (dp hates fish and we struggled to find something he would eat)

We won't be in a rush to go back which is a shame as it is stunning

Vende France . We still laugh about it . Horrendously long journey there. Hideous campsite , unmanageable beach due to sandstorms , blackflies infestation, everything was closed all the time and the food was shite .

Stockport but I was with some very boring people.

I’m rarely actually bored but I could only do 4 days max on a beach hol before going stir crazy.

I don’t think Stockport is supposed to be interesting. The hat museum is good though. đŸ˜…

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 25/01/2026 16:01

Not exactly a holiday destination, but Seacroft, Leeds. I had the misfortune to be posted there with my job for a (mercifully) short time many years ago, and it was fucking grim. I’m Leeds born and bred, but I would gladly have seen a batallion of bulldozers arrive and flatten the place.

Warhammer World đŸ’€

Been there to take youngest

Its great, joined the queue and I was the most stylishly dressed man there

Oh & as we waited to go in a car parking next to us came to close, I tooted him and he shot off with a Police Car in pursuit - sadly not the Death Corp of Krieg

Edited

Exactly! Not sure if some posters think they are being clever or they themselves are so dull they find just about everywhere boring

Fleetwood. The most interesting attraction was a fishing tackle warehouse. I only went to see where the Blackpool tram ended up. Didn't stay long.

I was allowed on the engine controls for the last call at Fleetwood by the 1955 Manxman

In my book its ACE!!

That and the trip to Blackpool to het the train on a 1930's tram

The tank museum in Dorset. Never want to see another tank in my life. There were just too many tanks, I mean I know the clue is in the name, but there were just too many. I really hate tanks now.

Milton Keynes. The centre felt depressingly sterile with no real local identity.

Yep. Only been once but I got the same vibe. It feels manufactured.

worcesterpear · 25/01/2026 16:08

Morecambe. We walked for at least an hour along the front, kept thinking we would come to something eventually, but there was nothing there. Disclaimer, this was a few years ago so there might be more there now, also I'm sure there are a lot more boring places, I'm just going on holiday type destinations.

Carnac in France, drove about an hour to get there and it’s literally just a field full of fairly small stones!

I thought Carnac was mesmerizing

taking the kids this summer!

mindutopia · 25/01/2026 16:10

I can’t say I’ve had many boring holidays, but for example, I’ve been to Rome and have no desire to ever go back. I went other places in Italy on the same trip, but Rome was just blah and had a bit of a dark vibe for me. I’ve rarely been somewhere I’d have no desire to go back to, but certainly, that would be one place. I don’t particularly care for Dublin either.

That said, I actually have a bit of a habit of taking us off on day trips to really random towns and making scavenger hunts. Like to Westward Ho! And make the kids find odd things like, a homeless dog, a potholder with a whale on it, a crab pot, a vanlife van, strawberry ice cream. It’s oddly satisfying and it makes a boring place a bit less boring in a kitschy sort of way.

You must have missed walking round all of them, some of the stones are massive!!!
