A quiet and friendly corner of MN to share the very dull day to day happenings of our lives. No criticisms, political discussions or controversies here - unless it is along the lines of "scone" v "scahn" and jam or cream first. Then it's gloves off! 😁

How did this start? I have found v.2, but not the original:

Dentist for the third time today.

My temporary crown is now lifting away. The fit isn't until the 19 May and I can't wait and see if it comes out completely because it's the bank holiday.

I was at the dentist yesterday, too. I had a temporary crown fitted, but the permanent one should be ready by May 12th.

Mine won't be ready till the 19th and it was prepped last week. She redid the whole thing today to stop it breaking again.

I had a wonderful day up in London today .
I have so many photos, that I think I need to explain what I did first so it makes sense !
I am going to 'photo drop /bomb them'

I started off at Victoria and then walked to the Royal mews by Buckingham Palace.
It is where I get keep all the carriages , horses and cars and things for Royal State stuff.

Then walked around Buckingham Palace.

Then had a little sit down and a mini picnic in St James Park ...
(then had an embarrassing moment of trying to get up of the floor with nothing to hold on to ! ..seemed like a good choice if seating at the time !🤣)

Walked down to Westminster using big symbols in the sky as my navigation ..(following the Wheel and Big Ben ...theni will get to where I know I am !!)

Evensong at Westminster Abbey.
Lit some candles .
For my Dad (RIP )
And mam who is having a difficult time at the moment.

And just a load of other photos !!

Enjoy x

Actually...

Don't think I can post all in one go !

Oddments of photos to follow !! 🤣🤣

bizzey · 30/04/2026 23:48

And ..pooooffff !!

They have all gone !!

Start again !

bizzey · 30/04/2026 23:49

Here we go ...

bizzey · 30/04/2026 23:56

Lovely pics Bizzey. 😍
Sorry about needing crowns Myrtle & Sue. 🦷 I needed one the year after Havoc was born. It was an awful trial to get the colour matched and I'm still not happy with it.

I'm awake at 1:52am. 😟

@sproutsandparsnips ..I will have to Hunt into the archives of my photos to find my Rome Photos .
I took the boys there in a January 9 ..almost 10 years ago .
The Beast from the East was visiting !

It was a cold I had never expected or experienced before .
And neither had the hotel staff !

The fountains were all frozen .

bizzey · 02/05/2026 00:02

Ok. Gorgeous day here at 21c, a bit of a breeze and some fluffy clouds. Spent about 90 mins with the kids and a ball and am exhausted now. 😵‍💫
Ran the old flat screen to recycling - yeah!
Dropped by a charity I like to donate to and they were closed - boo! So, box of toddler clothes back home. Really, I could've dropped the box at recycling, too, as there are at least 6 charity bins there, but they sort and sell, the one I like is quite specific and clients are by referral and don't pay. Baby-Go-Round
Once home gave baby a bath as thought dirt was great for pockets and hair when we were out. 🤦‍♀️ Then made a dinner of poached eggs with a sprinkle of pink salt (remember when that was faaancy?) with smoked salmon (generous amount!) on sprouted grain avo toast. Also thought it was the perfect day to pop a cold one to go with my meal - a cold lychee Perrier, that is. 😇

What lovely weather you had in London, bizzey.
I envy you your trip to Rome, sprouts.
Great photos all around.

Had a hectic week at work as we are down one colleague who had a baby six weeks early. Both mother and baby are doing very well.

DD made another sourdough loaf earlier, and put a batch of muffins in the oven ten minutes ago.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/05/2026 05:50

I bet the aroma is amazing with all that baking at yours Math. 😋

Glad you had nice weather @DandyDandylion

Love the Rome pictures @sproutsandparsnips

Lovely London pictures @bizzey

Your DD sounds great at baking @mathanxiety and glad the early baby and Mum are doing well.

Your weather sounds great @Mumtobabyhavoc Hope you Mum is getting better.

Was about 18C here today and a nice day and DH and I went to do 3 hours of gardening. We cut up the pallet and put in sacks, put excess turf in sacks, changed the silkies coop, cleared some leaves and twigs and had 3 silkies accompanying us, one who walked over my hand / gardening glove. Had pancakes for dinner which was nice. DH got 2 boxes of eggs by accident but it turned out well. We had cullen skink in the week which was really nice and a bit different. Bank Holiday weekend here so DH off work on Monday. Weather for rest of weekend is a bit variable.

Umanresources · 02/05/2026 22:23

@Mumtobabyhavoc I had the same for my breakfast this morning, apart from the avocado. It was delightful. I think it’s my favourite breakfast, although I do like smoked bacon as well. I did have a cappuccino as well. For dinner we had chicken and salad again, with a few very large oven chips. I wanted DD to stack them like they do on Masterchef, but she very curtly told me to do it myself 🤣

@MrsSPenguinz cullen skink sounds so good. I’ve never made it, just had it when eating out. Sounds like it was a very productive time in the garden.

@mathanxiety busy time at work, but reading about your baking is making my mouth water.

@sproutsandparsnips the photos of Rome are fabulous. I’ve never been, but I have photos of Roman buildings in Monmothshire in Wales. That’s the closest I got! I was very impressed with the size of it.

I’ve had a lovely day spent drawing some beach huts and hopefully tomorrow I’ll paint it.

Fantastic photos @bizzey and @sproutsandparsnips !

cullen skink looks delicious! I’d never heard of it before but looks so good 😋

my walking buddy is away this week. I’m meeting another friend and walking later today in the big city park instead of my usual morning walk. Quite looking forward to going to a park rather than just up and down the streets like I usually do. Gonna be hot though, we’re predicted to reach 25^c, but it feels hotter.

MrsSPenguinz · 03/05/2026 09:18

Enjoy your walk @EllaDisenchanted

I had Cullen skink on trip to isle of Skye and it was lovely and very creamy there and I saw someone mention on MN and thought wonder how difficult it is to make. We used this recipe but found it did need altering a bit as many of the comments said. So we used single cream instead of the milk and went for the chives option rather than parsley. The recipe says it serves 4 but it's more like 2 if it's a main served with nice bread and butter. As a small starter with bread and butter might just stretch to 4. There's some comments about what to add if you want more flavour.

Simmer haddock, potatoes, milk, onion and parsley to make this comforting soup. Serve with crusty bread for a filling lunch or supper

We used to have finnan haddie regularly. It was cooked in milk and was delicious. That’s taken me right back to my childhood. Thank you @MrsSPenguinz , I need to try that now, but I’ll heed your hint about chives and cream! That’s an hour spent looking where to buy finnan haddie! Ocado seems to be the best bet so far.

I read an article the other day about people “posting” children from one part of the country to another, in the past. They had postage stamps attached to their clothes and a delivery man would take them on a train and hand them over to family. Can’t see why my grandsons can’t be mailed, via air mail of course, to me in summer. Possibly save a fortune that way 🤣🤣

I hope your walk was enjoyable @EllaDisenchanted . I wish I could remember what it felt like just to be able to get up and go. I always feel as though I should be able to walk straight away, but it takes me so long to get going and I need painkillers and a walking frame before I trundle along at the speed of Dr Nefario in Despicable Me!

@Mumtobabyhavoc Hope your mum is doing ok.

mathanxiety · 03/05/2026 22:27

The baby was born (early) to a colleague of mine :-)

I got caught in a completely unexpected downpour today on the way home from work. I saw was the blue sky above and ahead of me, and never noticed the storm creeping up behind me until there was the mother and father of a thunderclap, followed immediately by drenching rain. I started running, but figured it was a lot of effort for no reason as I wouldn't end up less soaked. I had a hot shower as soon as I got home.
