A quiet and friendly corner of MN to share the very dull day to day happenings of our lives. No criticisms, political discussions or controversies here - unless it is along the lines of "scone" v "scahn" and jam or cream first. Then it's gloves off! 😁

How did this start? I have found v.2, but not the original:

Uman, yes you definitely need to increase your water intake. Set an alarm on your phone and drink, ie 4oz, every 90 mins.
How long did you teach for?

Miss, earthquakes definitely are surprising. A very large construction truck rumbling by is a good description.

Woke up around 8:30am. Feeling okay despite lack of sleep. Having a clean bathroom, floors and laundry done makes me feel ahead so far. Maybe I should start a new practice to get my cleaning done middle of the night? 😂

Maybe you need lucozade @Umanresources

Thanks @MissConductUS The Paxlovid has just arrived and DH is off to get it now. I am glad, I thought lucozade had worked as felt better but then I got much worse again and collapsed and was quite ill. So I really need it. Feeling bit better again.

I also do nighttime cleaning @Mumtobabyhavoc with DS taking muddy baths in the night, it's like a wild pig has come after rolling in mud and taken a bath.

Only thing is last time I had Paxlovid it made me feel sick but think it's worth trying. DD is back from university on Saturday and want to be back in land of living by then. I remember it was quite short lived when I had it.

I also need to drink more. I have a blocked burning throat so only drank 600mls so far today but I need to up that. Just hope it's not going to make me sick.

MrsSPenguins · 11/03/2026 18:31

Have taken first lot of Paxlovid.

Can you do a salt water gargle and throat spray to take the edge off the discomfort in addition to Tylenol/your version?
So glad you got that medication. 😅
Had to LOL at your wild pig comment.

I now have better than salt water. I have original lucozade. This morning DH being French got me orange lucozade, still nice but not the one from the 70s.

On/off cold feet all day
I kept thinking I should put socks on but I haven’t.
I’ve still got cold feet now.
I even went outside, no socks.

FartyAnimal · 11/03/2026 20:25

My pedometer was delivered by amazon. They didn't put it in our post and parcel box. Thank just left it on the floor inside the gate.

Please put on some socks! You can take them off again if you get too warm xx

Coming back from London on an earlier train. I've messaged my DH but the ticks haven't turned blue. Either he hasn't read it or he read the notification and he'll be waiting in the car to give me a lift home.

It's only a five os six minute walk but my ankle surgery has left me with pain and a limp, so a lift is always welcome.

MrsSPenguins · 12/03/2026 16:04

Hope you got a lift @MyrtleLion

I have had 2 lots of the Paxlovid now and still feel very grim but I think it's working as my COVID rash has largely gone. I can also eat a bit today whereas yesterday was only liquids and chicken crisps though do have bad stomach with it. I was glad our pet wild pig did not decide to take his hour long night muddy bath last night in our bathroom. DH is a bit worse today and resting which the cat was not happy with, cat is being super kind with me but whacked DH.

DH thinks he will be ok to get DD and her stuff back on Saturday. I hope she doesn't get it but he's had since Fri and she is only with us for the weekend, car journey not ideal but will be lovely to see her again before her first rowing camp.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 12/03/2026 21:43

Penguins, I'm glad there's some improvement. 💛 The virus is so unpredictable. 😔

After taking the car to the shop this morning I've made a pot of chicken soup with pasta and wontons which the dc have eaten heartily and warmed and buttered some lovely artisan pita to go with. I've had a nice fresh salad which I have been craving (toms, cukes, bell pep, spinach, feta) and a warmed bagel with salmon cream cheese. It really hit the spot after being sick. 😅
It' chilly, but has warmed up to 6c now. It's supposed to rain later.

Just cooking some chicken for my dog. She was sick last night after her dinner, so I'm playing it safe today. The food was her usual, and she doesn't have digestive problems, so I'm thinking she may have picked up something she shouldn't on our walk. Chicken today, and we'll see how she is tomorrow.

MrsSPenguins · 13/03/2026 21:47

Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc that looks lovely.

Still feeling pretty ropey here but eating is coming back and DH after sleeping a lot said he felt much better and definitely well enough to get DD and her stuff tomorrow.

My laptop charger failed and DH got me a new cable and it works but slower.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/03/2026 02:56

I hope you're getting some good sleep Penguins. 💐

Celebrated Havoc's half birthday today.
Taking car back to shop tomorrow. There's an issue with starting at times.

Glad you're starting to feel a bit better, havoc and Penguins.

Had a lovely meal.out with DS and his fiancée last evening. He has accepted a job offer in the area, and will be starting at the end of the summer/ beginning of autumn. His residency ends in July, and he'll be glad in many ways to move on with his life, and back to the land of easily available basic ingredients of meals, like garlic.

Thank you Havoc. Happy Mother’s Day to you all as well. I got my lovely card from my DD, which brought a tear to my eye. I got a new literacy game, which we’ve played already. We are having Greek takeaway tonight. They have the best chicken and lamb kebabs ever. So with vegetables, rice and Greek salad, we are happy. Tonight there might be tiramisu as well! It’s been a perfect day so far.

My DSD gave me a card and some Lindt sea salt dark chocolate. She is no contact with her mother (for very good reasons) and it's always lovely to be recognised.

MrsSPenguins · 15/03/2026 18:43

Love the Elmo cake @Mumtobabyhavoc and thank you.

Glad you had a nice meal out @mathanxiety

Glad you had nice Mothers Days @Umanresources and @MyrtleLion

Happy Mothers Day to anyone who celebrates today.

DH got DD back from university yesterday though she is off again 4am on Monday to first rowing camp. DH who is 3 days ahead of me with COVID felt ok for first time yesterday. I have been quite ill today. 1 day of anti virals left. Hopefully near the end.

DH made a roast dinner which was lovely, first normal meal I have eaten since start of COVID. But was worse after it so maybe too soon though may be sugar. The Paxlovid give a bitter taste and chemical taste to water so having sweet things. At least last one Mon am. Itching like crazy and lots of pains. Am trying to sleep. I was borderline for lower dose of Paxlovid due to kidney results and might have been better on lower dose.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 15/03/2026 19:19

Penguins, lots of sympathy your way. 💐
Might an antihistamine be worth a try just to see? You are really suffering with this. 😩
Myrtle, I love that Lindt bar. My other face is the one with chilli.
Gorgeous card, Uman. 🩷

Lazy morning here after a late night. Washed, vacuumed and wiped out car last night then stopped at Siegel's for a bag of bagels and a cookie for the kids. It was fun for them to be out so late. We watched a movie when we got home and slept in until 10am.

OP posts:
MyrtleLion · 15/03/2026 23:10

I can't do chilli but she knows I love the sea salt.

mathanxiety · 16/03/2026 01:08

I'm sitting watching the Oscars while a massive storm is shaking the building. I haven't seen any of the movies this year. We are going to have a 40 degree F difference between today's and tomorrow's high temperatures.

Penguins I hope you'll soon start feeling better.

Happy Mothers Day to all celebrating. We get ours in May.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/03/2026 01:38

Watching here, too Math. 🤩

OP posts:
MrsSPenguins · 16/03/2026 06:26

Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc How lovely to have snow.

Thanks @mathanxiety Hope the storm has passed.

Its 6.23am here and so far today we've had news that we are getting a full refund of the flights so just seat bookings to come back which weren't that much. DD has been taken to the train station and is off to her first Easter rowing camp this Easter. Last anti-viral is taken. Feeling bit better. Going to get back to sleep now.

Our building hired a bouncy castle on Friday/Sunday and put it in the car park so the kids could get out safely for a bit, so I took my youngest yesterday.
Today my grandmother, who is staying at my parents, has offered to do some art with the older kids.
I have an urge to make tuna casserole. I don’t know if I have the energy, but I really really fancy it.
