@Orangesandlemons77 a two week wait is so hard to deal with. Try and distract yourself in the meantime. My favourite thing to do is repeat to myself "whatever I do now doesn't change the outcome". In other words eat all the cake, drink all the wine or keep yourself busy.

JewelleryCat · 30/01/2026 22:14

Did anyone manage to watch Astrid tonight?

MewithME · 30/01/2026 23:09

Hey @JewelleryCat ... I might have to give this Astrid a go. It's very popular with you all!

I've been dozing all evening. Couldn't stay awake!

Nn all. Sleep well x

Morning all!

I have been floored by PEM this week. Too much mental stress. My joints are all hurting, even fingers and toes, and the pain is just moving round my body. Hopefully it will go away soon. My neck is very stiff too, making me dizzy, but osteopath on Wednesday should unclench that for me. I am trying to de- stress but easier said than done. Hoping for a better week.

@JewelleryCat what a treat, hope you enjoyed it! I am saving all the episodes for a binge. I like having a few episodes built up. Same with Bridgerton, I'm waiting for everything to be available then we'll watch an episode a night for a while.

The weather looks a bit brighter today, hope nobody is flooded!

MewithME · 31/01/2026 09:15

Morning! I just woke up for the second time. It's going to be one of those napping days.

I must do a ton of laundry and make the downstairs a bit nicer with a bit of a tidy. The sofa cushions are still not zipped back onto the base properly after last week's madness from DS but I can't be bothered with that.

I will go get coffee when I have woken up enough.

I fear if I fall asleep again it'll be lunchtime if I awake again.

Looks to be a nice day. It'll give me ideas about fresh air if I'm not careful.

Have a PEM sinus headache but I'm not sure if it's my still blocked ear. The sudafed helped hugely but once I stopped taking it, the discomfort came back. However I was rolling slabs in pottery so I'm wondering if it's that causing PEM. It was hard work and of course I didn't give it a second thought .....

Quiet day here. Hoping to get DH out into the garden for some major pruning. Apple and bay trees are taking over and blocking the light so they need to brought down a bit. And my old grape vine suffers from terrible mildew so I'm going to cut it back to the base and see if that helps. Obvs it will be DH doing the heavy work, I will be directing from a chair ๐Ÿ˜

Have a restful Saturday everyone ๐Ÿ’•

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/01/2026 10:18

@Swanhilde this is why directors have special chairs! It's a crucial job.

Feeling more in control of things after I washed my hair and trimmed my toenails! Everything else can go hang.

Glad your sofa survived last week's drama @MewithME. It's a lovely sunny day so hope you have a nice weekend.

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2026 10:27

I feel like I've done a week's work already today!

A load of washing on the line, pruned a rose and honeysuckle, went to the supermarket and put it all away, made veg soup and swept the kitchen floor, including shaking the rug and cleaning the chairs. Yikes! This is what happens when DH goes out early.

Sitting down with a coffee now..

MewithME · 31/01/2026 10:31

You HAVE! Calm down @FuzzyPuffling ...๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm not out of bed yet!

Aw thanks @TeaAndStrumpets and you. Feeling quite cheerful all things considered.

Morning all. Had my first specialist PT session this morning with two other ladies. It honestly felt good doing something for me. Even though family life has to fit around my hospital appointments this was actually something that is solely about my health that I can control for an hour a week. It's funded by our local cancer charity and aims to get women with secondary diagnoses keeping mobile and the benefits that healthy living bring. Might regret it tomorrow, think there might be some underused muscles screaming at me.

MewithME · 31/01/2026 10:35

๐Ÿ˜† @FuzzyPuffling I wish my pending laundry mountain would do itself. Alas I shall have to tackle it.

I bought a new audiobook last night. It was recommended on a MN thread. Series called Rivers of London. Narrator has a fabulous voice. Thought I recognised it and I'm right... He's the bloke in the cafรฉ with Julia in Motherland when she's freelancing. (Sure he'd be chuffed to be recognised as this and not his RSC work ๐Ÿ˜).

Anyway, gonna stick that on as it'll help with the chores.

That's fantastic @Oioiqueen . Great to get out and see people. Especially ones who get it and that is just something for you as you say. Really nice x

Morning all,
Sorry to hear about the PEM @TeaAndStrumpets & @Swanhilde hope things settle very soon.

Enjoy your Saturday @MewithME I was also falling asleep for a second time but Diddy dog decided she wanted to get up and even though DH took her down, she ran back up to me so that was that! Itโ€™s nice Iโ€™m her favourite but a snooze would have been good.

@JewelleryCat Did you enjoy Astrid? I was so looking forward to it last night but only managed 20 mins and then was hit by such a wave of tiredness I had to give in and go to bed! I think I was shattered and the concentration on subtitles was a bit much so thatโ€™s my treat to look forward to today!

Wow @FuzzyPuffling Well done! Im worn out reading that.

@Oioiqueen that sounds like you enjoyed the session and great to have something just for you. Hope youโ€™re not too sore tomorrow!

Slept very well and feel a bit more with it today but will likely end up catching up on things around the house too. I may put wellies on and get out for a quick dog walk to see if we can find a dry bit of field. Still looks to be a lot of water where we usually dog walk but river levels back to normal so some parts might be okay by now.

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/01/2026 11:04

@Oioiqueen that sounds really good. It's a mixed blessing discovering underused muscles as I know! But really good going forward. So nice to meet people, too.

Yes @FuzzyPuffling slow down! You must feel good though.

@TodayIsatrickyone it sounds very hopeful that the water is going down. Phew!

@MewithME the first few Rivers of London books were very enjoyable, it's always nice to find a new author.

@Swanhilde it sounds like Eustachian tubes? I got awful ear popping last time we had covid, DH and I had a week or so where one of us went deaf for a bit which was funny at times. Maybe the air pressure this week?

Unlike SOME people I'm sitting here in complete idleness!

FurForksSake · 31/01/2026 11:07

Specialised PT sounds lovely, Iโ€™m glad the charity are funding things like that, so important.

dh and ds1 are at scout camp. Dh called me last night with a sobbing ds1 asking me to collect. Ds2 was asleep. I said no. I spoke to ds1 and calmed and reassured him and told him he needed to stick it out. I feel really mean and didnโ€™t sleep well. And then I set the washing machine to start at 5.30 and it woke me up and kept me awake and then I fell asleep and woke up too late to take ds2 to his Saturday morning music classes. Oops. Heโ€™s been poorly this week so I let him sleep. I did 17 minutes on my exercise bike.

Iโ€™ve suddenly go fungal toes, no idea why!

Today will be about doing laundry that dh usually does and kfc for dinner with ds2.

JewelleryCat · 31/01/2026 11:16

I fell asleep straight after Astrid, woke up and watched Morse, fell asleep and then fully woke up at 10.30am! Iโ€™ve not done that for a long time, I must have needed it

TodayIsatrickyone · 31/01/2026 11:29

@FurForksSake try not to feel too bad. Itโ€™s likely a bout of homesickness that will pass and your DH is there if heโ€™s really unsettled. I remember my DS signing up for scout camp and then changing his mind once he was packed and in the car and he also sobbed all the way there. We also said he had to give it a go and I felt guilty all weekend but we picked him up at the end of the weekend muddy, tired and smelling of woodsmoke having had a whale of a time! Heโ€™s an adult now with fond memories of scout camps!

Ohhh Saturday afternoon Morse with a beer and the crossword used to be my chill out thing pre motherhood. Makes me sound like a pensioner in my 30s Grin

FurForksSake · 31/01/2026 11:58

Oh bless him, Iโ€™m glad itโ€™s not just my kid. My DH is in charge of the entire scout group (squirrels upwards, so hundreds of kids) but is primarily a cub or beaver leader. I actually donโ€™t know how he got roped in to going to scout camp. I had to drive over (itโ€™s really close, ten minutes or so) last night with dhโ€™s waterproofs and dsโ€™s book. Dh was miserable himself as it was pitch black a d raining. So I think they were all cold and wet and hating life. Today itโ€™s sunny but chilly and theyโ€™ll be busy.

Iโ€™ll go get him tonight if it goes tits up. However, I seem to have pulled a muscle in my left. Chest and canโ€™t bend forward, itโ€™s agony! I must have done it on my exercise bike. Iโ€™m not breathless at all, so I donโ€™t think itโ€™s my heart. My boob hurts and my chest wall ๐Ÿคฃ

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/01/2026 12:05

@FurForksSake yes been there done that with a tearful ten year old! When she was 18 she drove a mini full of friends and a tent over 200 miles to Glastonbury! They do go through clingy phases.

Sorry about your fungal toes. Maybe it's the damp weather! I swear by tea tree oil.

@JewelleryCat we watched all of Morse a few months ago. Also Foyle's War. A bit of nostalgia! What I like about Astrid is having two females solving crimes. It's always men!

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/01/2026 12:18

@FurForksSake ouch! I get costochondritis and find a hot water bottle is soothing.

Swanhilde · 31/01/2026 12:27

@TeaAndStrumpets I think you are right about my Eustachian tubes - Dr Google says they can take weeks to drain ๐Ÿ˜• My ear doesn't hurt so I'm happy it's not infected, just annoyed at feeling like my head's in a goldfish bowl ๐Ÿ˜‚

Couple of hours in the garden (with โ˜• breaks) and the apple tree is sorted. Plan to do the vine and weigela tomorrow weather permitting. And the bay will have to wait as the green bin will be full, but that's no problem ๐ŸŒฟ

Back in bed now and will definitely have a nap. Baked potatoes, beans and cheese for tea ๐Ÿ˜‹

Then I shall join you! Iโ€™m not great at crosswords but do like a word search and Iโ€™m also in my 30s but can feel like a pensioner some days lol
