@TeaAndStrumpets Iโ€™ve been watching repeats of Foyles War on ITV3 weekday afternoons. Iโ€™ve been enjoying them ๐Ÿ™‚

Stressybetty · 31/01/2026 13:26

Wow everyone has lots going on.
Just got up and fed dogs, had tea and shortbread.
Put rest of leaky MIL washing on, she was up at 6am Friday and well into last night so hopefully today will be easier.
Still need to sweep lounge and last nights washing up.
Period aches and pains so will try to take it easy this weekend.
Should really continue on ground floor which involves sweeping and mopping utility room floor and bottom cupboard fronts and continuing onto the hall floor. Might also de-dog hair the stairs to 1st floor which would be sitting down and very rewarding.
Newcastle match tonight.
Is it Astrid et Raphael the french one? 5 seasons! Might give it a go as seems to be on Channel 4.

JewelleryCat · 31/01/2026 13:50

Yes @Stressybetty the original French one. Itโ€™s called Astrid: Murder in Paris over here and if you havenโ€™t seen it, Patience is the British remake. Thatโ€™s just finished its second season

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/01/2026 13:55

@Stressybetty you are working so hard! I suppose the trouble with dog hair on the stairs is you have to get in there quite meticulously with the hoover tools. Anyone who invented a robo vac for stairs would make a fortune!

Yes it's a Walter Presents on Channel 4. Worth every penny not to have adverts. Same for ITVx they have such a huge back catalogue. I realised the other day they've got Lost In Austen which I remember really enjoying.

Then I shall join you! Iโ€™m not great at crosswords but do like a word search and Iโ€™m also in my 30s but can feel like a pensioner some days lol

Ha...I'm in my fifties now and still rubbish at crosswords but still like Morse. Can't watch reruns of the follow on series with Lawrence Fox though!

I've worn myself out. I've changed my sheets. Tidied the living room and put a wash on. Hung another up, and done some vacuuming.

I had ambitions to go somewhere but my head. Is thumpy now. Time for rest.

Might watch the new Agatha Christie film on Netflix.

JewelleryCat · 31/01/2026 14:00

@MewithME I do still like watching Lewis but it is a shame what Lawrence Fox has turned into

@TeaAndStrumpets Lost in Austen sounds interesting. I do like Jane Austen so is it worth watching?

Soeaking more about tv lol, anyone been watching David Baddiel Cat Man?

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/01/2026 14:06

@JewelleryCat it was on years and years ago but the plot was a modern day woman gets transported into Jane Austen's world. I remember it as fluffy but entertaining.

I am a pensioner, but having had auto immune conditions since my 30s I don't feel much different!

MewithME · 31/01/2026 14:34

Channel 4 without ads on catch-up is brilliant. It's now got all the U stuff too. Watched the new Bergerac last weekend which was nice. I've been to Jersey and it's beautiful. Nice scenery and it's bobbed along nicely.

It's very well priced compared to some streaming but I do spend a fortune on channels. I should be better at stopping them. Disney is the worst. Auto renews annually and I never remember when. But then DS does like some stuff on there. I never watch it.

For this afternoon, I've changed my mind. I've managed to make lasagna (or is it lasagne?) . Do that's cooking and I've just put the Count of Monte Christo on.

MewithME · 31/01/2026 14:35

@JewelleryCat I'm afraid I'm not a bi g fan of David Baddiel or cats so that's not one for me ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Does anyone here like colouring, either physically with a book or a colouring app?

Orangesandlemons77 · 31/01/2026 16:16

MIL came round and was annoying me with her comments that I looked well and it being good to get your steps in and asking how many times I have been out in the last week etc

So I went back to bed and tried leaving DH to deal with her. She doesn't get it and I understand she's fed up I'm not taking her out and entertaining her as much.

Anyway going to have a bath now as they've all gone out

Yes I do and have a few colouring books

Yes, I have just acquired a new one and I have an app called Happy Colour which I do as well

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2026 16:44

I got a lovely wildflower colouring book for my birthday. Must get going on it!

Stressybetty · 31/01/2026 17:03

@JewelleryCat I used to use an app called Zen Colour all the time but it got taken down. Have found another but not enjoying it as much as I was. I'll have a look at Happy Colour too. I used to do a great jigsaw app and paid one off for no ads but it got updated and it completely ruined it.
@TeaAndStrumpets I use a hair scraper rake tool thing as otherwise it blocks the hoover nozzle. Got 2 different hand held ones and one on a long pole plus rubber hand brush and rubber broom. It helps dislodge mud etc too. Then hoover after.
We have sometimes used itv and channel 4 ad free, depends what's on. Will give first episode a go of Astrid.

JewelleryCat · 31/01/2026 17:29

How come it got taken down @Stressybetty? That doesnโ€™t sound good. Do try Happy Colour if you want, I get on with it reasonably well. Thereโ€™s ton of pictures and different categories and thereโ€™s also a daily picture to colour too

@FuzzyPuffling a wildflower colouring book sounds amazing!

Stressybetty · 31/01/2026 17:34

@JewelleryCat something to do with the ads, it was disabled by Google! Can still be installed on some devices I think but has a warning!
Have just found Colour Flow too which looks pretty similar to Zen Colour.

JewelleryCat · 31/01/2026 17:39

That doesnโ€™t sound great that it comes with a warning! Itโ€™s good you found something similar though @Stressybetty

FuzzyPuffling · 31/01/2026 18:07

I'm looking forward to shading some foxgloves!

BodysBroken · 31/01/2026 19:50

I've been feeling rotten today but we have a gig booked for tonight, it's one of DH's favourite bands and was my Christmas present to him, so I was determined not to miss it. DH hates driving into London but I said if he didn't I wouldn't be able to go, there's just no way I can manage public transport this evening..Thankfully the venue was able to allocate us a parking space last minute. We're in the car, nearly there.

My mum is at ours babysitting so I had a game of Scrabble with her and DS earlier. Other than I've been in bed nearly all day conserving my energy for tonight. DD has been at her friend's and DH did a long dog walk and then a thorough clean of the bathrooms - rescaling the shower heads, getting in all the nooks and crannies, the full works.

FurForksSake · 31/01/2026 19:53

@BodysBroken who are you seeing? I hope itโ€™s fun and tomorrow will feel ok.

I very, very nearly blacked out earlier. Closest itโ€™s been for a while. Ringing ears, red hot, everything black, canโ€™t feel my body. All I did was stand up. I really should see someone about it. But Iโ€™m still waiting for the gp appointment for my gynaecology stuff.

Oh gosh. Definitely see someone about that. How have you been feeling since?

We saw White Lies at The Roundhouse in Camden. They were absolutely brilliant, really blew me away. We were parked in a secure compound right next to the tour bus and escorted straight in to excellent seats.

Yes me I like physically colouring, my DH bought me new pens and colouring book for Christmas and I've been doing a lot of it this past month!

Realisation14 · 01/02/2026 07:58

Gosh you all have had a busy week, much like myself. We had a storm here on Tuesday and the school closed so we got to hunker down for the day and listen to the wind and rain - it was lovely!

My dang eye is twitching again and it drives me absolutely mad.
