Morning all. @Orangesandlemons77 the somatic exercises sounds like a good plan.

im watching fellow travelers on paramount plus after a recommendation on another thread. Itโ€™s really good, very sad story about gay men in the sixties etc.

TeaAndStrumpets · 23/01/2026 09:23

Those exercises sound very helpful @Orangesandlemons77 , it's been horribly stressful for all of you. ๐Ÿ’

Swanhilde · 23/01/2026 09:38

Off to the allotment to count birds for the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. The link's below if anyone fancies doing it too. A nice relaxing hour with nature. Think I might do our garden too on Sunday ๐Ÿฆ

I'm saying I will do these things but so far just in bed, apart from taking DS meds etc. We'll see, maybe that is enough for today. Looks grey and horrible out there again, when will this pass I wonder?

Have some nice calming piano music on in the background.

FuzzyPuffling · 23/01/2026 13:21

I'm here, just pottering along and waving to you all.

TeaAndStrumpets · 23/01/2026 13:31

Hi @FuzzyPuffling waving back!

I've got the most stupid wrist injury, I got RSI from overusing my mobile phone when we were without internet. This has calmed down until this week I have now set it off again by wearing tight leggings to the osteopath. It's agony when I haul them up! I bet Jane Fonda doesn't have this problem. No they are Amazon not Lululemon!

TodayIsatrickyone · 23/01/2026 13:53

Hi waves to everyone, just catching up with you all. Hope you can all have calm days.

A little better here today so made the most of it and walked the dog with DH whilst it wasnโ€™t raining for once. We live near a field & river which has burst its banks in some spots with all the recent rain. Today was very soggy and splashy which for a sausage dog with little legs was fun! She got so muddy she needed a bath when we got home. All fine til an hour later, DH let her in the garden but wasnโ€™t keeping an eye on her as he was busy hoovering and I was resting so she dug a huge hole and got filthy again so muddy footprints everywhere!

TeaAndStrumpets · 23/01/2026 14:32

@TodayIsatrickyone oh what a blissful day for your little dog!

FuzzyPuffling · 23/01/2026 14:51

@TodayIsatrickyone I had to " love" your muddy dog post as we don't have a laugh response any more!

FurForksSake · 23/01/2026 14:54

Not sure what this thing will do when I go back to work. I spend half my life trapped under her.

What are you up to today if you have a chronic illness? Thread 5

Im glad it made you chuckle ๐Ÿ˜‚ DH wasnโ€™t quite as amused but he did at least already have the hoover out I guess! ๐Ÿ˜‚

@TeaAndStrumpets Sheโ€™s certainly found her feet with us now! The size of the hole in the flowerbed is quite considerable ๐Ÿ˜‚

TodayIsatrickyone · 23/01/2026 15:04

Oh my word @FurForksSake Shes adorable! Youโ€™re obviously not allowed to move!

@MewithME do you think it's an allergy? Potato is nightshade family, like tomatoes.

No. Not in a true sense of a food allergy but sometimes wonder about mcas. I just think it's an MEcfs thing. Digesting food takes energy. I read something recently about it too but can't remember what it said. Mecfs information overload. FB just spams me these days. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Oh that's a nice idea if it isn't raining. Quite tempted to stick my outdoor oodie on and do that myself if I'm not too wrecked tomorrow though I remember we did it in lockdown for DSs primary school and we only saw two fat pigeons. We named them Derek and Hilda and DS teacher was amused ๐Ÿ˜

@TeaAndStrumpets I think you need to sue the broadband provider... If this was America! Poor thing.

MewithME do you like sweet potatoes? They microwave quickly and a bit less carbs than potatoes (well kind of) you can get chips also. I sometimes have them with the aforementioned lentils packets things.

And yes the cobbling together something for me and the teen DC resonates here too, pasta or something usually. Gets tedious doesn't it. Sometimes I just have one of those Huel things grim as they are. Not too bad cold and feel at least it is supposed to be nutritionally balanced although probably a UPF.

Or a bit of toast or noodles. Sometimes as a treat we have one of those posh ready meals Fish pie or the like with chips and peas.

MewithME · 23/01/2026 19:14

I would have no issue eating better if I didn't have to cook for DS. When I'm exhausted, I have to still make DS his food so if I don't have energy to make something different for me, I have to have what he had. Like tonight. It was rank ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

I feel like a bad parent but he's happy. He did have some veg at least.

Morning all! I woke up at 7am after an 8 hour sleep. I was shattered after a bad night previously so I could barely stay awake. No palpitations thank goodness. You'd think I'd be full of energy but apparently not! My oxygen is low and the slightest exertion is pushing up my heart rate. It takes so long to get back to normal after PEM, I am always surprised! Silly of me after all these years.

Unfortunately have viewings at lunchtime, can't stop them until our potential buyer makes a definite offer, which they won't until our planning is approved. Now a month overdue bloody council.

We are driving over to DD1's to stay out of the way,. I need to see her magic scrubbing device! It has completely removed a heavy limescale build up from her marble shower tiles - she is amazed. She has tennis elbow from her various cleaning jobs and this device is pain free. I do love a gadget!

MewithME · 24/01/2026 09:36

Morning @TeaAndStrumpets and everyone .Glad you had a good sleep. It will have helped even if you don't feel it. I'm on the 4am wake ups but I did go back quickly at least. Woke again at 7am..then dozed with an audiobook.

I persisted with the last one which wasn't my cup of tea ..had cringey sexy bits in it ๐Ÿ˜‚ Back to a trustworthy crime one now.

It's windy but no rain as yet so will attempt some sort of outing for DS sake. My body is not too happy...I'm buzzy and in pain so I need to be careful but maybe some lunch or something is doable.

I just put some naughty pain au chocolate in oven as a treat. Back in bed with coffee while it cooks.

Morning @MewithME a good book can be so soothing! I have been reading a long series of books (Jodi Taylor St Mary's Chronicles) and knew I'd got the last few unread on my Kindle. So I read one this week, got to the end, looked at the next in series , thought hmm sounds familiar, then realised I'd already read the one I'd just finished! I had thought to myself, I'm sure she's repeating herself plotwise....In my defence they were first read during covid!

I agree, too much sex! It's just cringe, like the author has written a perfectly good book then the publisher requests 10 pages of smut to be added every few chapters.

MewithME · 24/01/2026 10:47

Oh my god. Just had shouts of disaster from my son. He's spilt a huge glass of juice all over the sofa. He then had a meltdown. I've just had to mop floors, strip cushion covers off, have an even higher pile of laundry which is already huge, and after all that physical effort of scrubbing, I am now shaking. I have completely had enough.

Ex husband and shit Dad is still sunning himself on an island with his latest girlfriend while THIS is my fucking life he pushed on me. That is a terrible thing to say but I have totally had enough.

I can't physically zip the covers back on properly and haven't even got anyone to ask for help.

DS can't even get his own breakfast without utter chaos. I've had it. And I still have to somehow get the sofa base cushion dry ..hair dryer? I should probably scrub it again with something to clean it better. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

OP posts:
TeaAndStrumpets · 24/01/2026 10:58

@MewithME do you have a fan? Prop it on a coffee table or something and point at the sofa. Quick wipe over the base wouldn't hurt. Take the sofa covers to the dry cleaners unless you know they won't shrink in the wash.

MewithME · 24/01/2026 11:09

Thanks @TeaAndStrumpets . I do have a fan. That's a good shout.

It's only an IKEA sofa. I think I've washed the covers before ok.

I'm calming down a bit. I feel slightly ridiculous but it's just awful when something like this happens. It's a hassle for everyone but with MEcfs, it's blowing your energy budget. Fed up of the knife edge of dealing with activity. All we've got to try and manage this illness is pacing. Then something stupid happens and you can't control it.
