Gosh that all sounds so frustrating for you @TeaAndStrumpets and rather stressful. I do hope the council pull their finger out with the PP soon at least and your new buyer can confirm.

Thanks! Really do want to move on. Sick of tidying and cleaning!

TeaAndStrumpets · 21/01/2026 16:41

Osteopath had a good go at various bits, one hip is very tight still so I'm back in a couple of weeks. We chat about all sorts while I'm being treated. I said I need some soothing tv and he instantly suggested Gone Fishing!

TodayIsatrickyone · 21/01/2026 16:44

@TeaAndStrumpets ha ha looks like Iโ€™m not the only one who loves that program! Itโ€™s very soothing tv!

Will watch it tonight!!

Swanhilde · 21/01/2026 17:07

Home from work and done for the week ๐Ÿฅณ

Honestly I've felt like I was in my old job today, not my new supposedly less stressful one!

Still I'm now in bed with tea and buttered toast - only managed to grab a latte for lunch. Cheesy leek and potato pie and baked beans for tea, followed by the Traitors. And then another early night and a lie tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜Š

Have a soothing evening all ๐Ÿ’•

VikingNorthUtsire · 21/01/2026 20:34

Trying not to snigger at you all getting your heart rates up watching Idris ๐Ÿ˜‚ just imagining monitors and tracking apps across the country telling people to slow down, and they are just watching a handsome guy on TV

I'm low. I feel like this crappy illness is affecting my marriage. I hate it.

I know that low body = low mood, and the grey, dark wet weather really isn't helping.

FurForksSake · 21/01/2026 20:36

@VikingNorthUtsire sorry to hear that. The weather is utterly miserable and I canโ€™t wait for spring. Solidarity.

TeaAndStrumpets · 21/01/2026 20:50

@VikingNorthUtsire it is hard. I mostly feel guilt that DH is doing all the domestic stuff and will occasionally have a little cry about not being much use. He just doesn't feel the same at all. He tells me in fact he couldn't manage without me so to stop being so silly. We do keep each other's spirits up, so that is a gift.

Hope you feel a bit better soon.

MewithME · 21/01/2026 20:56

Evening all. Absolute full on day. Finished late. Got a chippy tea. Now lying in bed watching traitors. Having awful palpitations.

My arm is hurting holding my phone up to type this now....PEM tomorrow here I come ๐Ÿ™„

I just feel rather low. A mixture of reasons but doing anything much is hard going at the moment.
I struggle to make friends here ( been here.3 years). Acquaintances, yes, but its all such hard work! Im.very grateful for my lovely DH and my friends who live a distance away.
One friend sent me a rose bush for my birthday. Lovely surprise ( it's called "Lovely Lady") but I wish she didn't live 250 miles away!

MewithME · 21/01/2026 21:32

Aww @FuzzyPuffling . It can be lonely with chronic illness. I miss my friends and barely see my family. I resent using all my energy for work .. especially when there's loads of people I dislike at work!

That feeling will pass. It's gloomy January and crappy weather and mid week... Rest...claw some energy back...and try and have a nice chat with your bessies when you are up to it. Flowers
My Arm hurts again now ๐Ÿ˜†

What a state!

@FuzzyPuffling i hope you feel a bit brighter today. It must be very hard uprooting yourself to a new area and getting to feel at home. It's hard making new friends at any age - there are probably people around you who will be friends eventually.

I agree this stupid illness is a friendship killer, but I value the people who do keep in touch far more for it. Your rosebush friend sounds wonderful!

Being older we have lost quite a few friends to cancer and heart problems so that is awful but they aren't replaceable of course. I am quite antisocial and like a quiet life, so a few acquaintances is fine for me. DH on the other hand has so many friends with his hobby/obsession he is forever on the phone, people call in etc. We are all so different.

TodayIsatrickyone · 22/01/2026 10:27

Hope today feels a bit easier @FuzzyPuffling How fabulous that you got a rose bush, thatโ€™s a lovely birthday gift and I hope it lifts your spirits.
I hear you re feeling down as Iโ€™ve felt similar this week but itโ€™s definitely a hard month for various reasons.

I have a very small friendship circle too and several of those friends arenโ€™t local either so I know that can be hard just chatting via messages or FaceTime. I do feel lonely at times but I value the friends who do keep in touch so much and try and appreciate them. I did meet a lovely lady who has ME years ago in an online support group and sheโ€™s now one of my closest friends and we chat daily so thatโ€™s been something positive to come out of having a chronic illness I guess!

Another quiet day planned here as still struggling symptom wise this week but I have showered and am resting so just going to put some washing in and see if I can potter for 10 mins without feeling woozy!

Hope everyone can get through their days the best they can.

Swanhilde · 22/01/2026 11:00

Quiet morning here of rest and tea โ˜•

Ceramics class after lunch and then we're nipping over to DS's this evening to see his GF and deliver her birthday presents ๐ŸŽˆ

Have a peaceful day all ๐Ÿ’•

TeaAndStrumpets · 22/01/2026 11:39

That sounds lovely @Swanhilde you must be very creative!

Swanhilde · 22/01/2026 11:59

I guess since I've been forced to slow down (stop) I've had to lean into my creative side rather than my active one to keep me happy. I'm not one for reading or films/tv, I need to be moving even if it's just my hands.

Knitting and pottery will keep me going til the weather cheers up and I can go out in the garden again and potter there. And I really want DH to dig out my lino cutting tools as I would like to get back into that too. I have ideas buzzing around my head that I want to try.

So yes, I guess that one positive from my illness is it's rekindled my love of being creative that I lost when the kids were little and I didn't have time โค๏ธ
