Oh that's a bit rubbish - I was watching Hijack s1 e1 on prime but it's only the first episode which is free. Gah!

That's a bit underhanded! We're watching S 1 on Apple TV+ because we have it already.

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 09:10

Morning! How are we all today?

I am exhausted, completely wiped and my coat hangar pain is so bad.

Plumber coming out after lunch so Iโ€™ve got to today certain rooms before he comes. Gah.

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/01/2026 09:25

Morning all!

I had a bad night and now have earache but I think it's tight jaw related so will soldier on!

@FurForksSake I hate having people in the house. We had a new boiler last year and it was days of upheaval! Hope yours is trouble free.

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 09:29

I believe itโ€™s a stuck control valve. DH wouldnโ€™t whack anything with a mallet the wimp.

plumber is also looking at the control bar thing in two of our en-suites so thatโ€™s more spaces to clear!

Sorry to hear about jaw, pain like that is so wearing.

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/01/2026 09:36

Happy Birthday @TodayIsatrickyone I hope it's a nice one! The sun is coming out here so looks like a more cheerful day! ๐Ÿฐ ๐Ÿพ

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 09:41

Happy broth day @TodayIsatrickyone hope itโ€™s lovely!

TodayIsatrickyone · 20/01/2026 09:51

Ahh thank you so much @TeaAndStrumpets & @FurForksSake Still feeling rubbish physically but better emotionally today so Iโ€™ll take that. Staying put in bed for now as I seem to have the woozy head symptom whenever I move but itโ€™s been a nice start to the day wirh cards/ gifts. DH came back from the school run via a local bakery so I have coffee and an almond croissant.

Sorry about the jaw pain @TeaAndStrumpets hope it eases soon. I get it sometimes too, itโ€™s horrible!
Hope it goes smoothly with the plumber later @FurForksSake and he doesnโ€™t take forever! Not easy having workmen in when youโ€™re feeling crappy!

Kitterkitkat · 20/01/2026 10:01

@TodayIsatrickyone ooh a birthday? Enjoy your day!

Bit more sleep last night, I set off at 8.30am but turned back pretty quickly as the weather is so grim, rain and wind. I'll get some leggings on underneath my trousers and head off again.

I have loads to do but only an actual meeting at 1pm. Wish the damp would stop, you get everything wet.

I'm watching The Whistleblower and thinking how grim and destructive sex trafficking is.

TodayIsatrickyone · 20/01/2026 10:41

Thanks @Kitterkitkat hope the wet weather improves for you soon and you can get on top of what you need to do.

FuzzyPuffling · 20/01/2026 10:45

Happy birthday @TodayIsatrickyone . Big hurrah for braving a January birthday ๐ŸŽ‚ ๐Ÿฅณ ๐ŸŽ‰. Is there cake involved?

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/01/2026 11:41

@TodayIsatrickyone I've had a report of little grand daughter's birthday yesterday. It went: Morning, gaze in awe at birthday banner and balloons. Go to look at some little animals at a stately home. Play on toddler slides etc. Nod off in cafe. Afternoon: back home for presents, all thrilling and exciting. The BEST thing she enjoyed was all the envelopes and she played with them for ages. 6.30: worn out with all the fun, tucked up in bed! I think you could manage a more sophisticated version ๐Ÿ˜‰

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 11:56

@TeaAndStrumpets that sounds like my sort of birthday! I love the sound of the animals at the stately home. We have one round our way with meerkats and all sorts but also a lovely garden for the adults. I must drag the kids over!

TodayIsatrickyone · 20/01/2026 12:16

@FuzzyPuffling there will definitely be cake involved later when DD gets home.

@TeaAndStrumpets Aw it sounds like your little granddaughter had a fabulous birthday. I shall certainly be following her lead with the afternoon nap at least! The animals sound lovely.

My Diddy dog got very excited this morning when I was opening gifts and spent a little while playing with the paper!
Iโ€™ve made it from bed to the sofa and am watching the film โ€˜ The Salt Pathโ€™ which Ive been meaning to watch for awhile.

TodayIsatrickyone · 20/01/2026 12:16

Oh I love meerkats @FurForksSake

Yes NT membership is great for free parking, clean loos and a cafe. We used to plan all our long car journeys by them!

MewithME · 18/01/2026 13:14

@TeaAndStrumpets I used to like Grand Designs but can't look at other people's houses now because I feel like a failure with mine. I feel totally overwhelmed by it. I lost everything age 40 with the worst divorce. ( and brutal exh). I absolutely clawed my way through and got a new property and started trying to improve it. It all stalled when I got MEcfs. I have no idea how to live in a small house with MEcfs and do it up. It doesn't feel possible. It was hard enough doing it as a single parent, working FT when I was well.

I have just cleaned it a bit today so that's something at least! Smells better!

I'm with you on that.

I love my house. But it's so cluttered and messy. I find it hard just to keep on top of it.

My top tip for pacing is to do a little bit in the ads when watching tv. I can generally keep ticking things over then,.

ETA- that's pacing for when I am feeling relatively well. When I am in a crash I don't have the energy for anything.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 20/01/2026 13:34

I have also had to stop watching those 'Escape to the Country' shows which i used to love. They depress me so much. I cannot bear people to turn up at our house- just before Christmas is the worst. People popping with cards and suggesting they stay for a glass of bubbles. It freaks me out. Because I need to be prepared for people to arrive (and often have one area that is able to 'receive guests' ) and certainly can't deal with things unexpectedly.

People on MN often scoff at those who refuse to open doors to unexpected guests. For me it's traumatic.

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 13:41

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia I am very much a hide behind the sofa person. I check my ring before I open the door ๐Ÿคญ No one pop in on me, I literally canโ€™t cope.

Oioiqueen · 20/01/2026 15:40

@FurForksSake and @TeaAndStrumpets
Hope you have managed to get on top of the pain. Everything is so much worse when you are in the worst of it.

@TodayIsatrickyone Happy Birthday!

MewithME · 20/01/2026 16:19

Ohhh a birthday? Sorry my brain is burnt out by work today... @TodayIsatrickyone happy birthday if I've picked up that correctly. ๐Ÿง๐Ÿฅณ

Happy birthday @TodayIsatrickyone ๐ŸŽ‚

Today I have done nothing but rest. Totally whacked out. DH was trying to explain something to me earlier and I had to tell him that my head feels like it's just full of porridge.

Swanhilde · 20/01/2026 17:40

Back from work, shattered, in bed with a cuppa and 3 salted chocolate almonds. Will play havoc with my sleep but I just needed something nice ๐Ÿซ

Am being asked to do more and more in my job because I am capable, but I took this job so that I didn't have to be capable. (Nor am I being paid enough to be capable!). I need to be mindful of this as you all know thinking is as exhausting as walking ...

Still I'm just finishing the neckband on DS's GF's birthday jumper which is soothing. DH is cooking tea then it'll be another early night here ๐Ÿ’ค

Have a restful evening all ๐Ÿ’•

Kitterkitkat · 20/01/2026 17:47

I got back about 5.10pm and ate a large bowl of mashed potato.

This shall be followed by treacle tart and cream ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Still raining, wish it wasn't so wet most of the time

MewithME · 20/01/2026 17:51

Ohh I just accidentally napped....and now our dinner will be late. God I want someone to look after me sometimes!

Exhausted.
