What heart rate monitors are you using? I used to wear a Garmin band back when I was a runner (sob)

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/01/2026 11:50

@TodayIsatrickyone Happy birthday for tomorrow! I hope you have a lovely time despite being stuck at home. Second the idea of some treats and a film night. I think my birthday is one of the few times I rent a movie from Prime!

My little granddaughter is one today - she is being taken to a city farm then to a cafe for tea and cake (mummy and daddy) and healthy snacks (her).

Not sure of the star sign. Is it the cusp? I'm Nov 19th and only just Scorpio.

Plenty of cheapies on Amazon, I think mine is ZacVrate if I'm reading it right. I don't think there's much to go wrong but mine thinks I'm dead if my fingers are cold!

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/01/2026 11:58

Oh it says Zacurate!

TodayIsatrickyone · 19/01/2026 12:11

Thanks @VikingNorthUtsire & @TeaAndStrumpets weโ€™ll definitely find some way to celebrate at home, DH is pretty good at shopping for nice treats and hopefully this sad mood will have lifted by then, it doesnโ€™t usually linger long.
Diddy dog seems to know Iโ€™m not right and is very cuddly today bless her. Have just managed an Epsom salt Bath so hopefully that might help pain wise at least.
I just have an ancient Fitbit I use to monitor HR & sleep, & like tea&strumpets, keeping an eye on my HR has been a game changer for pacing. I have to remember to check it though and mine doesnโ€™t alert me if I go high but many more reasonably priced ones around now.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/01/2026 12:17

I have spent yesterday and today clearing out old emails. It's amazing how they mount up. I've kept ones from my sister, usually headed "I'm Seething!" ๐Ÿ˜ฃ She should be on Mumsnet really, although is happily child-free.

chunkyBoo · 19/01/2026 12:35

Iโ€™ve decided I need to clear out my wardrobe - Iโ€™m giving myself this week to do it as I canโ€™t always manage much / and I want to do it properly

FuzzyPuffling · 19/01/2026 12:43

@TodayIsatrickyone I'm sorry about your birthday. January birthdays are always a bit shit ( mine is later this week, so i know the dollops of negativity you probably get anyway). Have a half birthday in July, or a Spring celebration or just plan something lovely when its not such a trial.

It will feel fantastic when you've finished! I've been doing that recently and it is very freeing. For me I get tired after 10 minutes standing so just a few things a day has worked.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/01/2026 12:54

I've been clearing out my in box and found hundreds of notifications from twitter and pinterest I didn't know were there! I'm not even on Twitter or whatever these days after DD2 got upset about my opinions, years ago!

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/01/2026 12:55

Hope she's not on Mumsnet!!

Ahh you're so right! Happy birthday for later this week! DHโ€™s birthday is June and I probably manage that better than my own. January has always been my hardest month tbf as DDs birthday followed by Xmas usually causes a flare so expectations of myself are generally low. Not sure why I decided I might manage to go out this year, just put undue pressure on myself really!

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/01/2026 15:10

DH is out so I'm supposed to be resting but it is rather boring so I've cut up a tatty flannel shirt for garage rags. As usual my neck and shoulders were protesting before I'd finished, despite me using my fancy sprung dressmaking shears.

It would have been so easy just to bin it, but old habits die hard!

FuzzyPuffling · 19/01/2026 15:17

I washed the glass doors in the kitchen. Including a good clean of the cat flap.

And managed to get a load of washing done and line dried.

Feeling virtuous!

You ARE virtuous, fuzzy!

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/01/2026 15:59

I went to get some meat out of the freezer for my tea. To my horror I found some leftover liver that had been impersonating something nicer. If only I had a cat!

Oioiqueen · 19/01/2026 16:31

@TeaAndStrumpets im always miffed though when you clear years worth and the amount of data you've used isn't any less. Like how I've deleted thousands of emails I must have made some space?

@FuzzyPuffling thats epic! Must treat yourself tonight with your feet up. I'm insanely jealous by how much you've got done

I have a win today. For weeks I've been getting my chest drained, today they turned me away as there wasn't enough for them to get. I went into the chemo ward afterwards happy to receive my chemo and thankful it seems to be working. I go back in another week for them to ultrasound and see if any more has accumulated. However after months of bad news constantly I'll take this little win and announce it to all.

Kitterkitkat · 19/01/2026 16:33

@Oioiqueen gosh that sounds nasty having to have it drained. But good you didn't this time round.

Kitterkitkat · 19/01/2026 16:35

Actually do you have to take pills for chemotherapy? I was surprised when a relative was given tablets for breast cancer, medicine progresses

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/01/2026 16:49

@Oioiqueen that is fabulous! Glad you are seeing some progress.

I'm hoping to see some space in 30 days when the trash bin empties itself, but that could be wishful thinking! It certainly makes searching by date a lot easier. I am just horrified by all the Amazon and eBay receipts, we must have spent a fortune over the years. Which reminds me - a lot of my purchases from ages ago on Amazon got credit for not using next day Prime delivery. It used to add up to the price of a Kindle book or film rental every so often. I wish they still did that.

Swanhilde · 19/01/2026 17:00

Home from work and in bed with peanuts and a cuppa ๐Ÿฅœ๐Ÿธโ˜•

Will start sewing up my knitting later. Fridge forage for tea, feel in the need of some fresh salad ๐Ÿฅ—

Have a peaceful evening all ๐Ÿ’•

Not sure how that martini crept in there ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿธ

You can but each cancer type has treatment lines that you follow. At some point I'll probably end up having them but I'm on an immunotherapy/iv chemo regime at the moment until there is progression and then I'll go onto whatever the second line is for my type of cancer. It's a PITA going 3 weeks in a row and then a week off but I'll take and be grateful for whatever extra time these drugs give me.

VikingNorthUtsire · 19/01/2026 10:17

Sorry to hear everyone is struggling, hope you manage to get some rest and/or generally feel better.

I am being spammed HARD by Visible - does anyone have a tracker/the app and how do you find it?

DH says he thinks obsessing over stats won't be good for my mental wellbeing (which is probably true but also feeds into my paranoia that he somewhere deep down thinks that I am making up my levels of fatigue ๐Ÿ˜ข). I think it would be really helpful to have an early warning that I'm overdoing it.

I don't have any kind of fatigue diagnosis at the moment. Going through the motions to try to get one (I have other conditions but this seems to be an issue all of its own)

Yes I have had visible for quite a while. Ask me anything...I'm tired right now so not sure I can think of somewhere coherent to say about it. I think it helped me learn about how to pace. It's useful and the team are people who have the condition and really understand it and us!

Oh that's a bit rubbish - I was watching Hijack s1 e1 on prime but it's only the first episode which is free. Gah!
