Have you gone DVD free?

DH wants to...but we have loads of old e.g. BBC dramas on dvd which I do like to watch every now and again. I can't find them to buy online. One I found on Apple TV but when I clicked on it to see how much it cost, it took me to Amazon prime. Which we don't subscribe to. Is there a way of buying a film (not renting it like you do with kindle purchases) or tv series without having to subscribe to all the different steaming services? We already have Netflix.

Absolutely not. I use iplayer and the other free channel equivalent on my tablet but mostly we watch dvd's. We don't have netflix, prime etc. Our internet is fairly unreliable so we don't like to rely on it.

We dug out a dvd of a film over Christmas because I couldn't stick paying amazon bloody £3.49 on top of the usual just to rent it when it sitting in the cupboard. Ds2 wanted to watch it.

We still have a dvd player gathering dust and it was refreshing to use actually. The picture quality was great and I didn't feel like spitting feathers at large corporations.

I think we'll keep what we have for a few more years and use it a bit more.

No, I still buy DVD/Blu-Ray for films I really like. You get extra features with them, and your access to them will never be suddenly removed.

I bought the latest Final Destination film on DVD, as it was cheaper than "renting" it on Prime.

I hate the fact you bloody pay for prime and then you have to pay again to rent a film ???

DH insists on keeping his collection. I'm not bothered, but when we watch something on dvd the quality is far better than streaming, so I can see why he wants to keep them.

We have dvds and videos - I can't be arsed to pay again for something I've already paid for (& won't randomly move from a streamer I pay for to one I don't). Plus I can lend them to friends and watch them without ads. I also believe in paying for content I really like (films or music) so the content creators get proper renumaration for their work. (Spotify pays 0.29p per stream according to Private Eye.)

They don't take up that much space on the bookshelves and look almost as nice as books.
